WooHoo! I think I've unlocked the mystery as to how to get Boomer to take a bath without ripping me to shreds! It all started with a walk through the aisles at the grocery store. I passed by the baby things and stared longingly at each little miniature spoon and such, until I came to the baby food. I remembered someone mentioning giving their kitty a little bit of baby food as a snack... (yes, thoughts of PT even invade my imaginary baby shopping :roll eyes: )So I picked up a jar of beef and a jar of chicken. Upon arriving at my home I was so excited about the baby food that I immediately opened both jars and dipped a finger into each to offer to my sweet spoiled little guy. He loved it, even going so far as to attempt to gnaw on my finger (ouch). Then my eyes strayed to the rest of my discarded groceries and I remembered that I had also bought him a new bottle of shampoo! I was giddy with glee about my cleverness!! So I grabbed the chicken jar and set it on the floor while I set out towels and began to fill the tub. Boomer loved it and I had to take it away a few tiems because he was trying to eat the glass:rolleyes: So anyway, it worked! I bathed Boomer with one hand and held out a finger full of baby food at all times with the other. It worked wonders, it wasn't until I stopped feeding him baby food so that I could dry him off that he seemed to realize he was wet:D  I'm so happy that it worked! He seems to have figured out that I tricked him though, and currently wants NOTHING to do with what's left of the baby food, but I'm sure he'll come around once he's done licking himself dry:D

LOL

I am not sure if we can fool Pichu like this. During his second bath, he put his fangs on my sister's hand and said - Take me out of the water or I bite it through!

WOW! That was a cool idea!! I hope it works everytime! Maybe boomer will figure out that a bath means treats and will go into it a little more willingly. If he likes the baby food that much then I wouldn't give him any more until bath time. That will always make it an extra special treat!! We need pics of his face in the jar!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/biggrin.gif

Some cat owners at the petshow I went to told me they use baby food only at catshows to associate it as a special treat so this sounds like a good idea!! I did get a jar and my finicky eaters loved it! Lap it right off a baby spoon!! My technique for bathing is only to do the back half. I fill the tub with warm water. Grab a cat and get him in a headlock between my knees and do the buttbath - grab a towel and it is over in minutes. I figure nothing else needs washing really:D Maybe I will bring out the baby food when it is over so they will associate the butt bath with a neat treat afterwards!! Good idea Missy!! :D

Still ROFLMAO!!! I know you don't believe me with all these long haired cats BUTT it is a rare thing to have happen to us. Usually I just pick them up and aim their butt at their father whom I have armed with a warm washcloth! He freaks out and gags moans and groans BUTT he gets the job done!!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/biggrin.gif They let me hold them better than they will him so he gets stuck with the BUTT UGLY job!!:D :D http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/biggrin.gif

Thank God , I only had to bath one Cat , the Gentle and Placid Mr . Fluffy , now a Cat Angel. The Poor Cat was dirty behind the tail , and I filled the wash tub , with warm water , and put him in ,tail first. He didnt fight , and felt better , when his backside was clean.

Well, according to catmandu there might just be something to putting them in the water butt first! I have not had to do this yet BUTT I will remember to try it that way if the time comes!
I still can't wait for Kitty Headlock Butt Bathing pictures from Sirrahbed!:D :D http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/biggrin.gif

I'm glad you figured a way to give Boomer a bath, sneaky! :D

I've actually had to give Tubby a bath recently. The first bath in his entire 17 1/2 years! I was always afraid to give him a bath before - not that he needed it, so I was quite leery, but things went amazingly well. As long as his feet didn't get wet, I don't think he really noticed he was wet until it was far too late. ;) Then he only moaned a few times and it was time for the towel and a good blow dry. :D The whole thing was so anti-climactic (sp?) that I didn't see the need for pics. ;) :D

Good job, and I too suggest saving the baby food for baths so he associates the baths with something that yummy. :)
