Karen and Paul, please tell me if these examples are OK or violations:

Many of us show pictures of brushes or combs as examples of grooming tools. My recent thread included a picture of a corner brush. Is that picture a No No? (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38688)

Paul often shares links to web newspaper stories. Is
THIS (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39247) example OK because the newspaper is credited and/or because the story states it can be emailed to others?

Thanks:)

I was thinking about questions like that too. In printed works you are allowed to quote other printed works. So if you quote text from a book or a picture of an exhibition in a magazine article about the book or the exhibition this is ok -according to German copyright which is similar to French and in general continental Europe copyright. (Of course quoting the whole book would not be ok...)
So a quotation should be ok online too -if you mention the owner of the copyright.

But copyright law is complicated stuff.

Copyright law is difficult. The stories/links Paul posts are fine - they link to, or credit, the original source. Just like in school, if you quote something, you have to footnote it or give sources.

In your case, I think it's also fine - you purchased the product, so what you do with it is your business.

I am not a lawyer, and never hope to be one, we just try our best!
