*gasp* pant, pant *tries to catch breath* Did I beat her? I double dog dared Slick to a race for the bar a few minutes ago ..... ha HA! I win!!! Oh drat, that means I have to start cleaning up I guess. Phooey.

slick

**run run** **pant pant**

Ah Ha!!! You took a shortcut....that's not fair. I see Catland and the gang got a good headstart on the cleaning last week so I'll go tidy up the BR's and mop the floor and bar again.

What the special this morning Laurie???

lbaker
12-10-2003, 10:15 AM
hmmmm, lemme think about it. I was at a meeting in Houston a few years back and had a Sunday brunch where they served eggs benedict but made with crab meat instead of Canadian bacon. I make great poached eggs. Maybe you could supply the Canadian bacon and I'll supply the Chesapeake Bay crab meat and we can offer a choice. Might be a bit heavy for you West Coasters this early so I think I'll fix up some mixed berries and fruit for starters. Oh wait. Did you mean special as in food or drink :o  Suppose I just mix up some Bloodies while we decide.

catland
12-10-2003, 10:18 AM
*pant* *gasp* - no one told me this was a race today.

no reason why we can't toss some dungeness crab into the mix... and some tillamook cheese. OK, I've done my part.

Now we just need someone to come up with a DOTD and we'll be set. In the meantime we can get started on this pitcher of bloodie's. Slick, did you get all of your stuff out of lost & found from last week?

Vio&Juni
12-10-2003, 10:30 AM
He-he-he, I'm thirsty too :)

I would love a summer drink, winter is not my favorite season, so whatever drink is DOTD, if it's a summer drink, fill in my glass.

One of my friends' wife was diagnosed with colon cancer yesterday, I am still in shock - she's only 39. I'll drink for her to get well.

slick
12-10-2003, 10:39 AM
Special as in "drink" :D :D but I'll take food as well. I'll just run to the butcher and get some real lean Canadian bacon...be right back. In the meantime save a Bloody for me.

Good Morning Catland: I see it didn't take you long to figure out the bar was open. (It's all my fault.....). Crab and cheese sounds good.

YOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO....RICHARD....WHERE ARE YOU........????? Put that axe down and get over here and have a BM. Are you still on vacation???

V&J: so sorry to hear about your friend's wife. Maybe you could start a thread in General section and get all the PT prayers started for a recovery. 39 is too young to be plagued with such a disgusting disease.

lbaker

Logan, I can just picture us sitting at an outside cafe in Charleston having crab eggs benedict while sipping a mimosa at Sunday brunch. V&J, that mimosa sounds rather summery, how about joining us? Also, Slick may be right about posting about your friend in General. Never underestimate the power of PTalkPrayers, just ask my D-inLaw Jenny. Speaking of Slick... boy, she will go to any lengths to get out of BR cleaning duty - bacon shopping indeed (maybe for Kevin Bacon  )

Mmmm....those eggs benedict sound wonderful! Please, please please pass some this way! (can you tell I'm starving, and it's only 11:25 am here, 'nother 1/2 hour until lunch.)

I'm going to suggest Teguila be added to the DOTD this week. Read on to see why. :D

Tequilla Christmas Cookies

Christmas Cookie Ingredients:

1 cup water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup sugar
1tsp salt
1 cup brown sugar
lemon juice
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups dried fruit
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequilla

Directions:
Sample the Cuervo to check quality Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again, to be sure it is of the highest quality, pour 1 level cup and drink. Turn on the electric mixer.....Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add 1 tsp of sugar......Beat again. At this point its best to make sure the Cuervo is still OK , try another cup....just in case

Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 leggs and add to the boel and chuck in the cup of dried fruit. Pick the frigging fruit off the floor...Mix on the turner. If the fried fruit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsistticity.

Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Who giveshz a sheet. Check the Jose Cuervo. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somsfink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Finally throw the bowl through the window, finish the Jose Cuervo and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.

Cherry Mistmas!!

Laurie, when you're ready to join me in Charleston, say the word! I love any excuse to visit that beautiful city (about 3 1/2 hours from here). :)

I'm going to "tell" on my husband a bit here, but this past weekend, my brother was married, and my mother (bless her heart), suggested that her 3 grandchildren spend the night at her house and she wanted the adults in a hotel, so she and my dad paid for rooms for Scott and me, and my sister and her husband. Scott snuck in a bottle of champagne for us, but by the time we had a chance to drink it on Friday night, we were so sleepy!!!! :o He got orange juice on Saturday morning and made Mimosas. I thought that was the sweetest thing!!! :) Of course, I love him dearly anyway, but anytime he does something special like that, I love him even more!!!! :)

Mimosas and Eggs Benedict with crab sound marvelous to me!!! :)

As long as you're here Richard can you make the next pitcher of Bloodies? My hands are a mess from picking crabs. Look at this attachment thing. I've seen some similiar ones but especially like this one. (hope it works, I'm not very good at this stuff)

Hello everyone! Just tell me what to do and I'll help clean up.

T & P - that is soooo funny! I laughed out loud sitting here at my desk. In fact I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. People are looking at me strangely.

I think I'll have an eggnog, too. But add just a touch of brandy to mine. If I going to be festive - I'll be really festive.

catland

T&P - that's great. Good ol' Jose. he was a friend of mine.

WELCOME BACK RICHARD - hope the place isn't in too much disarray. We've got the papers for the puppy - don't worry about lost and found or what happened to the ceiling fan and the knickers.

Time to start a fire in the fireplace?

Hi Richard: "back into the swing of things" **snort** :D :D All that axe swinging has gotten to you.

Logan: what a lucky lady you are. Some of us are still waiting......I'd be asking the same question as Laurie..:D

Laurie: I just love that link. Thanks. As far as the BR's are concerned, this Porcelain Princess won't stand for anything less than spotless....I thought I did a good job :p

Amoore: Good morning - at least it is for me. Where's your husband?? Was last week's dancing too much for him??:D

Robinh: Solution is to close the office door. I've had to do that plenty of times when reading Richard's posts.

Hi MOFF: here's your hot chocolate.

Speaking of brownies.....did anyone happen to see Frazier last night? Niles was going to rebel for a night. He had it all lined up where Roz would supply him with a "brownie" - you know, one of those yummy "funny" brownies we had here a few weeks ago? Well, somehow their Dad ended up eating the brownie, not knowing it was a "funny" brownie, and he ended up acting really goofy :D Niles, in the meantime, thought he had eaten the "funny" brownie and was acting weird, and the two of them together was hilarious. :D :D

Anyway, if you didn't see it, it's definitely one to watch for in the reruns. :D

So, who mentioned brownies? I'll have one, and a bit of eggnog too please. :D

Maybe Gini and the puppy had too much eggnog and are crashed under a table somewhere???

In the meantime, a vegeburger with the lot please! :)

Oh, and a drink in the biggest glass you've got. There is a meeting right now about moving my department interstate - great news for Christmas, bah humbug ... :(

Tray: one grilled B & C with onions and fries coming up. Why don't you take a seat over by the fireplace. That's where all the action is.

MM: veggie with the works. Must take an awfully big truck to move a department??

We never did establish a DOTD so how about a BM? The pitcher is still half full and I'm afraid I'm not much of a bartender.

Just my luck. I make it back to the bar when everyone's gone. I've missed all the good food - not that the brownies weren't good, but woman cannot live by chocolate alone. (OMG I didn't say that, did I?) :(

Have a good day tomorrow. I'll be in class all day, so I won't check in until tomorrow night.

Thank God someone found me! Now who is the wise guy that rolled the potted poinsettia into the Lost and Found?

I was minding my own business and kinda slumbering under the influence of a poinsettia drink. I wake up and here I am - in the dark corner of the Lost and Found. And I have green tea towels all over me - who did that? Hmm, funny place to put those towels - a matching set huh?

And Catland that funny smell coming from the Lost and Found IS NOT ME!!

Look you guys, I am NOT drinking something called a BM! Can't you just hear people say "did you have a BM today?"

Ohh, and the eggs benedict with crab meat is all gone? Boy does that sound good about now. I am really hungry.

Slick, Slick, where are you? Do you have enough fixings left to make me one of your sandwiches? Those sound really good too.

To drink - gosh, Richard, you make the best drinks. Remember your slushie from July? Could you make one of those? It is perfect because after you have one - you can still say SLUSHIE
and it sounds so normal.

when you go off and do volunteer work for two days straight - it makes you feel good - but it isn't nearly as much fun as spending time at Thursdays - trust me!

Gini & Slick were up so late they may be sleeping in this morning but I'm up & about and can open the bar (haven't lost my keys yet). I happen to LIKE a bloody made with clamato and my special also has horseradish & a toss of worstershire. You can keep the nasty olive & PICKLED OKRA??? ewwww. Yes Gini, crab meat is done (boy, picking enough crabs for this crowd did a number on my hands, that Old Bay seasoning STINGS). Ms Meow, how about if you & I throw some shrimp on the barbie? Still some embers in the fire place... I'll go bring some wood in.

Eye openers? Well, we can either go with mimosas or some coffee drinks. Nothing like caffeine and alchohol to really confuse your system.;)

GINI - I was wondering if that was you snoring back in L&F but Slick said what I was on a need to know basis and that I didn't need to know.

SLICK - love those signs - too funny. There's a restaurant near here that has a "no smoking" sign, in braille, on the wall near the front door. I don't exactly know how a blind person would discover it unless they just wanted to lean up against the wall.

For some reason you guys have reminded me of a true story that happened to me so many years ago, I shudder to think how long.

A friend's family owned a bar and one of their hostesses became ill and they were seriously short handed - and on a Saturday night. They asked me to help them.

I was afraid I would drop all of the drinks but they promised me they would show me how to serve the drinks.

At the time I was wearing those little spit curls - do any of you remember - you curled them and at night you taped them to your face so they wouldn't get messed up?

This guy was sitting right at the serving station. He took a shine to me and kept touching my spit curl. (Richard, just leave it alone.)

He started writing me little tiny love notes on his cocktail napkin, folding them up and handing them to me. It was too funny.
He had had several drinks and was very happy.

A week or so later I went out to buy shoes - guess who the salesman was - wearing his wedding ring? We both acted as though we had never seen each other in our life.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Snoring? I was snoring! Great, now everyone knows!

Shrimp on the barbie - yuuuummy! I'll take some of those - need some help?

Gini, glad to see you made it out of the L & F. Great story. My cousin and I used to make those curls when we spent the week at my Grandma's house. We'd make them and they'd start drooping so we'd redo them, add some Dippity Do and they'd stay for a little longer and we'd have to redo again and add more Dippity Do. I think in the week we were there we went through my Grandma's entire jar of Dippity Do. :D

Zippy, don't you hate it when you drool on your new laptop? I think they should provide warranty coverage for such things. :D

Oh, I'll have one of those Bloody Marys Richard - not a BM mind you, a Bloody Mary. :D And I'll have you know that Thursdays are now messing with my week. I woke up thinking it was Friday today because the bar opened a day early.

I'll just say that I was head of a fundraiser - the goods were delivered - and there are shortages - and the whole thing is driving me nuts! I know it will get better, but I am not having very much fun right now.

Sorry I haven't been much help here today. Thursdays at work are Print Order day. My job on Thursdays is to put the report together to send to the printers showing the breakdown of pages, numbers, ads etc for our weekly journal Science. You remember Science, we're the journal that printed the story & reports on the Colymbosathon fossil (that's Greek for "amazing swimmer with a large penis"). Anyway, there were some computer problems and today has been rough. Speaking of large.... oh nevermind. Print order is finally done so BOY, do I need a drinky poo. Something clear in a martini glass with a candy cane twizzle stick would be excellent. Did someone get those shrimp in time? I don't smell anything burning so someone must have. Let me sit for a minute and I'll get back to work.

Ok, I've got a few minutes so what will it be from the kitchen folks?? We've got come shrimp coming up shortly (short shrimp????:D :D I crack me up....), lots of nachos with or without the works, burgers, fries, grilled cheese, whatever you want, I got it. And please help yourself to the candy canes at the bar.

And for me, I'll have another Spanish Coffee and this time, you have my permission to "tip" the bottle a little more if you like.

That fudge and those cookies look really good, although I don't eat sweets. Fill up guys. It's Thursday, I'm rockin' and there's only 13 more shopping days until Christmas.

HO! HO! HO!

I'll take care of your Spanish Coffee Slick - since I tend to make the drinks a bit stronger (does wonders for my tip jar).

mmmm - lunch smells good. Shrimp on the Barbie - great sight gag:D

lb - one candy cane twizzle martini special - done.

amoore - I'm not one for chocolate in the morning but I'll make an exception for that fudge.

Corinna - love the cookies - even if they aren't the "specials". The puppy likes them too.

Now that Gini is gone for the day I've called in the Haz-mat team to see just what the heck is in l&f.

Corinna, you want a cocoa & snopps? If that makes you so much fun I want one too! Wanna hear a "blonde joke"? LAURIE hehe This is sooo weird... I was just w/ son at our "local". It's a Chinese restaurant with a funky local people bar in the back.. we are looking at our list from Jenny and it says "cat food, lemon squeezy, butter & Tylonal PM" I said "we have butter, HEY Albert (that's the Chinese bartender) do you have a lemon?) He does and goes to the kitchen to get me one. I say "HEY Albert, you have any cat food? We start laughing so hard we are getting "the look". Then Albert comes out with a can of Friskies. So all we need is the Tylonal & I have some at HOME! We didn't have to stop on the way home. OK, stupid story but it was reallly fun at the time. Guess you had to be there

Hey, I am back! Spent the day picking up stuff, delivering stuff.....I am so filled with good works I want to vomit!! I spent about a half hour in Cedar Sinai Hospital parking lot - waiting for someone to come and get boxes out of my car. EVERYONE wanted my parking space and I kept saying NO, I AM NOT LEAVING, NO I AM NOT LEAVING! No one believed me. I finally just got out of my car and started walking around the parking lot so they would leave me alone.

AND I RETURN AND WHAT THE HECK........How did I get this poodle skirt on - and oh, no, what have you done to my hair? It has dippety doo doo all over it and I have spit curls......spit curls with pink bows tied to them. Why oh Why would you do this to me?
And on top of that - I am only gone for half a day and you guys have forgotten my name? Gigi it is now huh?

Well, that does it - I NEED A DRINK. Spinach Coffee?
Geeze, are we down to that?

Hey Dogz - say anything - anything at all - doesn't matter if it is funny - at a certain point in the day at the bar we will laugh and laugh at just about anything! See how we laughed over Laurie and her butter, lemon squeeze ( what nationality is that?) and cat food with butter.

Ooops this is too long - just give me one of those beautiful drinks in the martini glass with the candy cane in it. So yummy with that peppermint! Absolutely perfect.

Hey and Richard - way back about 30 posts - new towels for me? I didn't think you could buy road map towels (that match my eyes).

After my drink, I have to leave - but I will be here in the morning to help clean up. Please someone look out for our Zippy - we don't want her to sleep through her deadline!

Tray1, if you would put your arms down then people wouldn't put their coats all over you:D

Bye...........

HI HO HI HO, IT'S OFF TO WORK I GOOOO Now let's see, I think we need to establish some ground rules here... first of all - when you leave Dicks Place (aka Thursdays) TAKE YOUR DANG CRITTERS WITH YOU  I walk in this morning and the turkey, the rabbits... wiiiiiith spinach all over their whiskers... some silly puddle jumping frog and a lost looking cat (with crossed eyes) ..... all of them drunk and doing the hokey pokey. Now I ask you, is this any way to run a respectible joint   sheesh, where oh where to start. hmmmm maybe with some hair of the dog as it were. Speaking of which, where is that puppy? I sure hope Richard or Gini didn't lose it. NO I don't want a nekkid beer. Maybe some strong coffee with a splash of Kahlua.... yes indeedy do, works for me.

Oh , hi Ibaker, Ill have what your having.

Dogz, did you have a joke to tell us?:D

I can explain about the Friskies in the kitchen of the Chinese restaurant... Albert (the bartender) said a stray kitten found it's way into the restaurant during a delivery. Then it hide and they couldn't get it out. Albert went to the store for the Friskies to try to lure it out, then he was going to call me to come "do something" with it. Before they could catch it, it ran out the door not to be seen again. By the way, guy walks into a bar and says rather frantically "gimme 7 shots right away". Bartender procedes to set them up and the guy downs them one by one real fast. Bartender says "why are you in such a hurry?" Guy says "you would be too if you had what I have". BT says (while he backs away) "what do you HAVE??". Guy says "75 cents"... buhduhBUM

**yawn** Suuuppppp!!!
It's just coming up to 7am here and you guys are already partying like jack rabbits!!!! Don't worry about Grover, Tray. I think she's taken a shining to the puppy. Awwww, look at them cuddling by fire. Ain't love grand:D Oh yes, and Tray, haz-mat is the Hazardous Material guys.

And it really must be too early because I don't get Laurie's joke yet. I'll have to wake up a bit and read it again before leaving for work.

Gee this bar is a mess. As soon as I do a bit of a cleanup I'll put on the coffee.

**yawn** or maybe I'll go back to bed....did I really sleep in the back room last night??? Richard will kill me.

12-12-2003, 10:36 AM
OK - who left the back door open all night? Do you have any idea what it costs to heat this place?

Time to clean up - after a bloody caeser of course. lb - your opening sentence of " I can explain about the Friskies in the kitchen of the Chinese restaurant... " is great comedy. :D

Gee - those haz-mat guys sure were cute - but even they couldn't figure out what was in the l&f. I don't know if the crime scene tape is theirs or if its Gini's (Gigi? Gigli? Ginger? MaryAnne's) idea of a joke.

gini
12-12-2003, 10:54 AM
Hi, Gigi, Ginger, Georgia here.........finally! I'll help clean up like I said I would. How DO we make such a mess?

I think the L & F is alright now.......the Haz Mat guys (yeah, they are cute) found the problem.

Would you believe that Phred has wandered over here - I didn't see him did you? Well he put some of that Klam Juice back there, thinking we would never know. Because it wasn't refrigerated it popped the top right off of the bottle and was oozing all over the floor underneath someone's knickers. Yuck it was green and kinda glistening.

Let's see - 7 shots - 75 cents - can of Friskies and a Chinaman - it makes my heart pound trying to put it all together and understand.

Coffee please - just plain ol coffee for me (gotta get to work and help clean up).

Corinna

I'm laughing so hard i'm crying. It's hard to type with tears. If any normal people read these posts they would have us all committed.
Thank you for explaining the friskies I think! I have to figure out whats wrong with my new hot water tank, getting just a tad bit of hot water it's only about 6 months old. Talk about cheap Home depot says that Ge probly won't do any thing as it most likly cuz I have sedament in my water. Then why did I pay for a 6 year warrenty?
Give me one of those poinsetta things if any left. (please) I have to call and argue with these jerks.

catland
12-12-2003, 11:00 AM
grrrr - don't you love dealing with warranties. One pointsettia for you Corrina - just don't share it with the frog.

Ginger - one plain coffee for you.;)

We're going to have to do something about that Phred. Although he is a great practical joker. He must have been hiding under the coats once we freed Tray. That's why the coats were still moving and snickering - I thought it was the nekkid beer going to my head.

Corinna

OK Gini, if you are Ginger then I guess I can be Maryann. But who's Gilligan and the Skipper?? And I thought this was just a 3 hour bar. How come we are all stuck here?

Catland: I didn't see any cute haz-mat guys. And you did and didn't come and get me right away?? What were you thinking? And where did all these frogs come from???

And why am I asking all these questions so early in the morning?

Never mind. Just give me something tall and strong...preferrably with 2 legs, but I guess I'll take a drink instead. :D

Do we all get to sit on Santa's knee next week???;)

And one more thing Richard: only 33 more posts to go and you get the big 3000!!!!

Now that's the right attitude! Usual custom is for newcomers to tell a joke, so bring it on RB. :D

Slick, when the haz mat guys were here, we were afraid to come get you because we heard you were partaking of something nekkid and we didn't want to either a)interrupt b)embarrass you c)have things get out of hand with the haz mat guys. I mean, who knows what they would do with something nekkid after being under the influence of the dreaded klam juiz!

Oh, and I finally get why all you guys are partaking of martinis with candy canes. Thanks Richard! and even though it's afternoon already here, I think I need a Spanish coffee to get me going......

..............................

An old man, a boy and a donkey were going to town. The boy rode on the donkey and the old man walked.

As they went along, they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking and the boy was riding. The man and boy thought maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions.

Later, they passed some people who remarked, "What a shame, he makes that little boy walk." They then decided they both would walk.

Soon, they passed some people who thought they were stupid to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride. So they both rode the donkey.

Later, they passed some people who shamed them by saying how awful to put such a load on a poor donkey. The boy and man said they were probably right, so they decided to carry the donkey.

As they crossed a bridge, they lost their grip on the animal and it fell into the river and drowned.

The moral of the story?

If you try to please everyone, you might as well kiss your a** goodbye.

:p

Phew, and here I was worrying about Zippy and she is outside playing in the snow. Wouldn't you know!!

What is really nuts is that this evening we are going to The Grove, a mall close-by my home. They have a snow machine and on Friday nights they turn it on and let it snow all over the town square (in the center of the area).

We are all excited to see it snowing...............only in California!

Russian Blue - that was a good one.........initiation is over --- you are an official member of Thursdays and in high standing. Is the door stuck?:D :D

I love the Piper pics - much better than pancakes on a bunny.

ok - true confession time. I bought a Christmas CD a week or so ago (I'm a sucker for Christmas CD's) - anyway, one of the songs is a duet with Tom Jones singing "Baby it's cold outside" - I actually like it.

I guess this really means I'm middle-aged now. If you had said to me 20 years ago that someday I'd like Tom Jones, I would have just laughed at you. (maybe this explains the unmentionables in the rafters here)

Slick - is it my imagination or does one of those Haz-mat guys remind you of Keanu Reeves?

Richard - I'll have a snowshoe if you're still serving.

Sam Elliott? Did I hear someone offering a Sam Elliott? I'll definitely take one of those!

Sounds like the party has continued today. I took Kirby to the groomers and them went shopping (joy of joys - I really love shopping) until it was time to pick him up. Then I came home and all of us took a nap - now that is my favorite way to kill an afternoon. I'm rested and thirsty - give me something really strong.

I haven't dug out my Christmas music. Trying to hold off as long as I can.
