Dearborn Animal Shelter in the Detroit Free Press!!

This article makes me SOOOOOO mad!! Because of stupid, idiotic irresponsible pet owners doing the right thing and FIXING their pets, the shelter is overcrowded with cats from floor to ceiling! Now they're talking about changing the no-kill policy to euthanisia after 4 days!!! If this happens, hundreds of cats, mostly older cats, will DIE!! :( :mad: :mad: I'm sick thinking about it. Didn't you mean to say "pet owners NOT doing the right thing"?

I agree & it's so very sad.:( Our Humane Society and most
every Shelter I know has more cats & kittens than they can
house,feed & provide medical care for. It's so unfair for the
animals.:(


"Meanwhile, Greene said she fears the Dearborn shelter, which has plans to build a larger facility and hopes to avoid canceling its no-kill policy for adoptable animals, is facing financial hardship.

She said she'd hate to return to the policy of killing cats after four days.

The animals "deserve better," she said. "These animals can bring so much happiness."

This makes me think the Shelter is pretty desperate at this
point.
