I have contacts with tibetan spaniel rescue people in the US, so I'll pass this thro' to them. Often different breed rescue groups help each other out.

Rottie,
The word is spreading. I also posted on two other dog communities, A-1 All American Dog Lovers, and Responsible Pet Owners. These are all MSN communities. The manager of A-1 contacted me a few minutes ago and asked permission to spread it to other boards and by e-mail. I told him to go for it. Hope some of this will help. I have exhausted my resources, but maybe some of the recipients will pick up the ball and run. Hope so. If I were closer, I would be glad to help.

Good on you, Rottie & Logan!
Deb, the wonderful person who runs tibetan spaniel rescue in the US, has now posted this request on the tibbie mailing list. She's said that any tibbie person who can help Sparky on his travel to his new home will get lots of kisses from him.

Rottie, I hope that you have found someone to help with the final transfer of Sparky. Wish I was in that area I would help. Please keep us posted. While on this subject - where does a person find out if a rescue group etc. is looking for someone to help transport a dog to a new home? I imagine that a dog could be going to a new home just about anywhere and you never know just who might be out there to help. But sure you also need some information that the person who is going to help with the transfer is reliable. At one time I found a rescue mess. board that was dealing with transfers but when I went back and ckecked it a few months later it looked like everyone had been feuding and no new posts for over a month. I don't seem to see this posted anywhere and I visit lots rescue sites.

Sammi & All ~

There are probably *hundreds* of different E-mail Groups and Lists on the I-net that deal with or specialize in arranging transportation for dogs, cats, and all manner of other critters. Here's just *one* called Truck-n-Paws, a Yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TRUCK-N-PAWS

If you're interested in helping to do rescue transportation in your area, find and join one of this type of list. You'll usually receive a rather lengthy e-mail once a day that lists sometimes dozens of transports that people are trying to arrange for *critters* that need to get from point A to point B, along with details of the animal's medical, social, health and vaccination history. The good lists give details of who is making the trip arrangements and how to contact that person if you can help with a *leg* of the trip that will be close to your home. If you can't drive a leg but live near one, you can volunteer to *home* a critter for an overnight between legs of the trip. We've never been able to help yet, but I read my e-mails fron the Truck-n-Paws list just in case I might be able to help with a trip.

Post back here if you find another good list that you find.

I don't know of any other transport specific lists but the Texas Rescue Yahoo groups that I belong to will generally post transports needed or available every day. The lists for your area might do the same.

where does a person find out if a rescue group etc. is looking for someone to help transport a dog to a new home?

I belong to the group Dogs Are Cool (I think it's a yahoo group, but I'm not sure). It's just a general dog list, but there's occasionally a transport needed, so it's posted there.

Thanks for your support everyone. I'll go check my mail and see if I got an update.

Oh, it is, it is! Because Sparky is a Cocker (as is my Tucker) and he is 2 (the same age Tucker was when we adopted him) and because he is coming to Illinois, and I've always liked the name Sparky (should of been Smokey's name)I was so worried about him.

Thanks for the keeping us informed, Cin. You're the best.

http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif Here's another Sparky-Hauler heard from:

"Sparky will be coming to Ill to his forever home on Sat.

"Todd will pick-up & over/night him on Thursday where he will then drop off with Penny Friday morning who will keep till Sat AM & then she will meet Lisa. Then I meet Lisa Sat & take to his forever family.

"This is all pending being able to contact his current owner which I haven't heard a reply from yet.

"Lets keep our fingers crossed.
