I have a website where there's a form people can fill out about the type of pet they are looking for. It gets emailed to me and then I search the internet at rescue sites and shelters for dogs that will match their needs. Anyway, no one has ever used it until today and I've spent hours looking for a dog for this lady in California. I have read so many sad stories about dogs who have been rescued. At least they had happy endings but I needed a place to vent because abusive people make me so MAD.

I think Harley was mistreated, abused, and neglected because of some of his behaviors. For the first couple months I had him, he'd hit the floor if I even moved my hand. I NEVER have hit him or even pretended that I was going to. He flinches still when someone goes to pet him. He does other things that lead me to believe he was just yelled at and hit for 7 years of his life http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/frown.gif

I think there should be more resources and precautions made so the public is more aware of how to properly train dogs. Hitting is not necessary and it teaches the dogs that being touched is a bad thing. Oh my heart is so broken, I wish I could take in every single abandoned animal in this world.

Aly, my heart goes out to you. I know EXACTLY how you feel!! I agree...I just don't understand why or how people behave like they do sometimes. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/mad.gif Why do people get pets just to abuse them (what is going on in those minds of theirs??)? I can't even begin to fathom how people can be so cruel (to defenseless animals who give unconditional love, as well as other people and children) There's a scary link between animal (pet) abuse and abuse towards spouses and children. There are a couple of shelters in this area for battered women and children...but also they can bring their pets too because they're in danger as well!

So sad about Harley too. Wow, 7 years of his life, being treated so poorly! At least he is one of the lucky few to escape such circumstances and find his way into your loving arms. I really wish everything would have worked out with him and your other furkids. Be sure to keep us posted.

I know, animals are my weakness...and I wish I could take all the abandoned ones home too!! It definitely hits a VERY sore spot when I see any kind of kitty or doggie suffering in any way and the ignorant people that let it happen...

*hugs* to you and your kids, you're a wonderful person!

My Shiloh (rescued at 9months old) does the same thing. If you should even raise your hand at her, she would try to bury herself into the ground! So sad.

Hey Aly, why not share the website url with all of us? together we can all make a difference but we gotta make sure to inform folks of resources. ... thanks so much!

from bug (rescued from the woods), Scarlett (rescued from two abusive owners), Munch (rescued from a garbage site), button & beau (rescued from death's door and placed in a great home), Miya (rescued from the street) and Janet (will rescue for purrs and licks)

The website is at: http://www.geocities.com/pet_adopt/

I wanted to get it done fast so I did it with the page builder. I'm currently redoing it and I'll let you know when its up at the new site.

Lemme know if anyone has any suggestions on how to make it better.
