Hello, I'm a new member here but very excited to have come across this site. Briefly, about me, I'm a 28-year-old "mom" to two dogs and 3 birds. I'm a lover of all creatures but on a soul to soul level, I connect with dogs the most. When I look at pictures of dogs or see them on TV, there is something about gazing at them that makes my heart just ache with pure adoration and love. All the pictures at this site are a treasure trove that captures the pure essence of the beautiful creature that is dog. My heart is moved by them in the same way a heartfelt musical piece can move me. I could very happily spend the rest of my days in the presence of dogs 24/7, old or young, wet or dry, dirty or clean, it matters not. But enough about me, and on to what REALLY matters and that is to introduce my babies.

First, there is my girl Tasha. I could go into the tale of her adoption from the local shelter but I know I would get too long winded and at the moment, I merely want to make an introduction, not start a novel. Tasha is a shepherd and greyhound mix, now about 5 years old. Generally she is shy and wary of strangers, but with my husband and I, she turns on the charm and is quite confident. Of the two dogs, she is the alpha. A couple of my favorite pics of her I'd like to share. The first, her most common sleeping position in which she has the endearing habit of curling up in a tight little ball, tucking those long thin legs in and her tail over her nose. The second is my very favorite picture of her, capturing her elegant grace and soulful eyes.

http://www.doordolt.com/jess/Dogs/tasha.jpg

Next is Tommy, a beautiful red golden retriever who came into my life at 6 months of age after being rescued from a neglectful home where he was not wanted. Tommy is now 3 years old, and I have never known a dog to revel in human touch the way this boy does. He literally falls over in ecstacy whenever someone bends down to pet him. It never gets old to him, and he will lay in what almost seems like a hypnotized state until the contact ceases, whether it lasts 5 minutes or an hour. These pictures are some of my favorites. His eyes are just so full of feeling.

First, a late summer shot of him playing in his kiddie pool with an apple he found in the yard from one of the apple trees. He's always happiest with something to hold onto in his mouth.

http://www.doordolt.com/jess/Dogs/tommy6.jpg

Next, I just love this shot of him with his impish delight as he shows me his oversized mutilated tennis ball.

http://www.doordolt.com/jess/images/tommyatplay3.jpg

Finally, this shot I actually took a week or so ago during our first real snowfall of the season.

http://www.doordolt.com/jess/firstsnow/tommy.jpg

I hope these pictures bring at least small measure of the joy to some of you that they bring to me every day.

Hello :)

Welcome aboard. I'm KayAnn ( or Kay, whichever.)
I'm owned by two pups named Simba & Nala. They can be seen in my signature photo.
Simba (left) is a 5 year old (6 this Christmas) German Shepherd Pit Bull mix. Nala (right) is a 9 month old Lab (Great Dane?) mix.

They are the loves of my life, and I wouldn't live a day without either!

I just love Tasha, she's so adorable! :)

Hello there and thanks for sharing your pictures. Kay I had already been browsing through your pictures and enjoying them. You are a very good photographer! Tonya, I love how little Teddy looks like he is jumping up so he won't be left unnoticed.

Tasha does have the sweetest expressions that just make you want to cuddle her. Tommy is like a big teddy bear.

I've been playing around trying to work up a sig with paintshop, but I've reached the point I'm tired and have been looking at it so long I don't know if I like it or not. I'll have to decide some other time :p.

I'm thrilled to be here. I love to photograph and talk about my babies, and look at other people's babies as well. This will give me an excuse to finally really share my love of animals with people who feel the same way.

Julie your dogs are adorable. My first dog was a male sable collie named Cody and my second two years later, a male tri-color named Willie. No words can describe how much they meant to me, and I have made a memorial page in their honor, if you'd like to take a look. Also included there is a memorial to my sister's dog who recently passed away, Shine. I wrote the poems for my collies, but as I didn't really know Shine (my sister and I live a long ways apart), I put in the Rainbow Bridge poem, which is a perfect tribute to any dog.

http://www.doordolt.com/jess/memorials.html

Overall, my pages are a sort of photographic journal involving all the things I love, my pets, garden, home, yard, etc. My family is scattered throughout the US and it's a good way to keep in touch.

Also for the birdies, I will include shots of them. I need to get some pics with them all together. Their names are Dawn, Dusk and Twilight.

This is Dawn, my first tiel and a total 'lovebird' with people. She is mute, was that way when I got her as a chick though I didn't know it until later. She can only make a whispered sort of cheep noise but it doesn't seem to bother her any. Here she is exploring my messy desk.

http://www.doordolt.com/jess/birds/dawn.jpg

Next is Dusk, just the sweetest natured guy you could imagine. His favorite noise to mimic seems to be the sound of the beeping microwave.

http://www.doordolt.com/jess/birds/dusk.jpg

This is Twilight, the youngest, who has adopted Dusk as her knight in shining armor. She has the most lovely lilting voice.

http://www.doordolt.com/jess/birds/twilight.jpg

So those are the birdies :)

By the way, I adore the Akitas I've seen here. I'd love to have an Akita baby someday ;) My husband is partial to Corgis as a breed. It's always hard to choose what I like "best", I just love them all.

Hello, and welcome to Pet Talk. =) You seme like a very nice person, and your babies are gorgeous! I love the picture of our Golden in the snow. I used to live in Oklahoma, and I had a red golden retriever there. She LOVED the snow and would have it all over her like your's. :) She passed away this year of cancer, though at only four years old. I miss her dearly. =)

But on a happier note, I'm Cayter. Pronounced Kay-tur. Hehe. =p But you can call me Foam if you'd like. I answer to both!

I am owned by two dogs. They mean the world to me, and I would do anything for them. Maybe that's why they're both cpoiled brats! Hehe. ;)

This is Ozzy. He is a Smooth Collie. Ozzy is about 4 months old, and just the love of my life. I got him from a breeder when he was 7 weeks old, and right away we were the best of friends. We are future agility champions, service dog team, and trick dog! He knows over 12 tricks already, some of them being extremley complicated at his age. Like patty-cake, crawl, and weave. He also knows agility commands like Tunnel, Over and Dog Walk. His first obediance classes are in January.

And this is Darlin! She's such a sweetie, yet VERY humorous puppy dog. She turned a year old this October. Some funny thindgs that she does is fall asleep while I'm brushing her (She LOVES to be groomed), run in circles around the living room likea mad dog, and climbs all over you. She's not the brightest dog ever though..hehe. ;) She runs into walls, and only knows sit. She'll only perform her sit when she feels like it though. :p She also sits at the door when she wants to go out and does this:

Your babies are gorgeous!!

My name is Emily, and I'm owned by the four dogs in my signature--Kito-a shiba inu, Abbey-a beagle, Riley-a lab, and Jada-a rottie.
Kito we got from some people who show shibas, Abbey we got at beagle rescue, Riley I intercepted in the parking lot of the spca, and Jada is our newest addition, also from the spca!

I look forward to seeing and hearing more about your dogs!!

k9soul - beautiful user name, beautiful dogs, beautiful first post, and beautiful website :) You sound like you'll fit right in here! I actually just noticed a couple other threads from you and decided to hunt down your introduction thread because you seemed so nice and your sig is so pretty - I just had to find out more about those dogs! :)

My name is Alyson (also go by Aly) and I'm slave to a terrier mix (Lolly), Poodle/Bichon (Reece), DMH kitty (Shiloh), and Siamese mix (Skylar). The dogs are rescues from the shelter and the cats are rescues from the street. I am heavy into shelter and rescue work so I currently have two 8 month male foster cats, four 8 week foster kittens, two 6 week foster puppies (possible Shar Pei mixes), and one 4 week Husky foster pup with mange. As you can imagine, I'm very busy, very sleep deprived, and very stressed! But I love all my babies and wouldn't trade them for the world.

What a joy to meet you and your crew. I just love the names of your birds - ADORABLE! I want a cockatiel soooo badly, but I am nervous because of my cats

Oh yeah, I forgot to say:

WELCOME TO PET TALK!!!

Thank you :). Dawn is a cinnamon pied pearl and I also love her colors. She is also so inquisitive and sweet. Within a couple hours of getting her home when she was still a youngster, I had earned her trust enough that she let me touch her head, and ever since then she has just been the most cuddly and affectionate bird I've ever had. My mother bred parakeets for a time when I was a kid so those were mainly the birds I had exposure to. I've found the tiels to be so laid back and sweet natured. The keets were more comedians but at least the ones I grew up around were more interested in the other keets than with people.

Dusk was two years old when I got him, I saw an ad on the internet that someone was selling him as they had gotten him but then found otu they had an allergy to the feather dander. He apparently had a wing injury when he was younger, not sure exactly what happened but he has never grown his long flight feathers back in on that wing and so he can't fly at all. When I got him I thought it had just been clipped short, and maybe someone did overclip it? I'm not sure :(. Those feathers never grew though. He fell in love with Dawn right away but Dawn wanted nothing to do with him. She was attached to me and that's it. I think she thinks of herself as a person more than a bird. Dusk was so heart broken and always crying and calling to her.. day after day. I couldnt stand it, and didn't want to get rid of him, so I decided to get a young bird to be a companion for him and that's how I ended up with Twilight.

All three seem happy now, Dusk and Twi are such a cute little couple. I will get more pictures of them soon :)

Welcome to petttalk!! So glad you stopped by and posted and shared such beautiful thoughts about your dogs. I agree so much about wanting to be with doggies all the time...i just love meeting new ones and just even stopping by the shelters occasionally to visit them, even if it is just to get them to wag their tail.

Anyway, i am mommy to a 2 year old skin kid, a 6 month old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog puppy (in my sig), and 2 of the friendliest cats i have ever known (also in my sig).

Anyway, welcome again, and i will look forward to reading more of your posts and seeing more pics!

I was just showing your pets' pics to my parents, and they were awwing and ohhing over how BEAUTIFUL Dawn is! I swear, she is just gorgeous! So are the others, but Dawn's coloring and pattern really catches my eye. My Muffin is also a VERY cuddly little girl. I think its a *girl thing*, because the boys are more vocal, and the girls more cuddly. I also find cockatiels to be much more interactive and human loving than most parakeets I've been around.
I'd love to see more pictures of them! It would be great if your post your birds' pics in Pet General because the bird lovers will be most likely to see them there. :) Again, welcome to PT! I just love your furry and feathered crew!

Anyway, my name is Amy and I'm owned by 3 dogs. Reggie is a 10 year old schnauzer, Smokey is a 17 year old poodle, and Nebo is a 1 1/2 year old siberian husky. :)

I had Dawn out and snapped a few pictures. The flash washes her colors out a bit so I took with the overhead light on and no flash. Enjoy!

Oh she's is just TOO sweet! Thanks so much for the pics! This pic made me want to put my hand through the screen and scratch her little head. SO cute! Ugh...........now I have the urge to give some head scritches to some birdies and my birds are asleep. Guess I'll have to wait until morning! :o Such a cutie! Is Dawn the friendliest of the three?

Yeah Dawn is the most human-oriented. Dusk likes to sit on shoulders but he's never cared for head scratches. I got him at 2 years old so I'm not sure how socialized he was. Twi is more attached to Dusk than anyone which is fine, since Dawn prefers to have me to herself anyway.

I love your birds ! They are adorable . I have two right now but had 5 cockatiels at one time , and hand-raised one , (also had two parakeets and a Myna bird). They were a joy ! But moving from Tenn to Tx was hard on them . The one I hand-raised was more human than bird I think. He did sweet funny things all the time and I loved him very much ! His name was Tweety and if you didn't pay attention to him he would yell as loud as he could HELLO TWEETY! He was so funny ! One day we had a terrible hail storm , baseball size hail hit the roof and broke windows out... such frightening noise ! Tweety and the the other cockatiels crashed their bodies against the cage and lost feathers and blood. Tweety, only a year old, died that night . All I have left now are Polly and my new bird Stella. She is not very petted and does not like to handled , but Polly has been with me for 15 yrs and is a sweet friendly bird that loves to talk. He has some songs he whistles and he makes kissie sounds .
:)Thanks so much for showing us your birds . They are very beautiful . I love reading about everyones birds, and seeing pictures . Maybe Popcornbird will put some more pictures of hers in here :D Hey every body please post some bird pics in here, if you have them !

Welcome to Pet Talk. :D

Unfortunately I don't have a dog right now, but hopefully soon I will get another Golden or Golden mix. :) You can see all the pets in my sig. I breed fancy rats for breeding and show and currently have 15. When I was younger my mother raised cockatiels, and we will finally be adding another tiel to our family soon. I hope you enjoy it here..........wait, I KNOW you will enjoy it here! :D

Welcome to PETTALK!!!
You sound like a girl after my own heart!! ;) j/k I was owned by a fawn colored greyhound for 2 years until she crossed to the bridge. You can see pics of her in either link in my siggy.
I am now owned by a 2 year old golden name Keegan who is my WILD CHILD. She looks a lot like your Tommy!!! Tho she is a little WIDER!! :o But she has hypothyroid and we are working on that!!! ;) And also a 3 year old kitty Kylie. I got her from friend when she was a year old and her boyfriend didn't like her, so was very cruel to her. I have had her for over 2 years and she has 'blossomed' with me in personality and SIZE!!!:( :o But I love them both with all my heart. I am going to post a couple pics of Keegan and Kylie if that's ok!
