Mugsy said "Lets try again..."

Then she typed:

Mugsy ~ You did the "paste" OK; but you used the "URL" Button.
You must use the "IMAGE" Button to paste in a Picture Location!

Like this:

"Billy the Beagle"...

"Lazy Dogs on the Bed"...

http://wsphotofews.excite.com/022/ka/gF/Qk/q747690.jpg

"Sneaky Sophie"...

"Studly Dudley"...

http://wsphotofews.excite.com/016/wV/Sl/f4/qT10399.jpg

--------------------------------------------
Mugsy ~ To see what I did (and what it looks like), come to
this post and "Edit" it. Just look, don't change anything.
Then click on the "edit post" grey box to restore the post.

{Phred here - again, at midnight}
I've just edited this post to reduce these 4 photos to the normal
"posting" size. The "jumbo" size photos that were here were
taking too long to load and display.

There IS an example of the "jumbo" sized photo a couple of
posts below this one. /s/ Phred @ 11:55 pm

LOL Someone was a NAWTEEDAWG! Checkout the footboard on the bed of the second pic. Sorry Mugsy, I love catching the NAWTEEDAWG
evidence in pics.

Eee-Yipes :eek: Mugsy ~ How did you get such *huge* pictures
stored on WebShots?? The other pix in your album weren't nearly
so big?

Did you go into that post via "Edit" to see the difference between
what you did and what I did?

Try again, using the "IMAGE" Button :D.

Mugsy ~ OK, I figured out where the *jumbo* pictures came from...

WebShots has you pix stored in Three sizes: Thumbnail, Large,
and Jumbo (high resolution, full size).

When you post pictures on Pet Talk, you want to click ONCE on the
Thumbnail size photo and WebShots will display the one size
larger photo. That "one size larger" photo is the one you want
to Right-click on and paste into Pet Talk's "IMAGE" box.
Don't use the "high resolution, full size" - it's way too
big :eek: for the BBS.

Here's an example of all three:

Thumbnail size:
http://i2.webshots.com/icache/co/24/80/23722480oKbcVxomMYthumb.jpg---http://wsphotofews.excite.com/038/l5/uK/5n/rp25434.jpg

"Posting" size:
http://wsphotofews.excite.com/037/MW/R7/iB/rp85910.jpg

The "way too big" high resolution (full) size:
http://wsphotofews.excite.com/001/xw/bY/HY/rq74813.jpg

OK; time for you to try it!

Mugsy ~ You're getting REAL close :D!

Look at what you entered ~ The ONLY mistake was you forgot
the "backslash" >> / << at the END of the image string.
You typed " " at the end.
It should have been " [/IM G] "

Keep trying - you've [i]almost got the hang of this! :D

Oh; and that time you did use the correct size photo!! ;)

Yippie! She got two out of four! :D
{Phred's comments below...]

This is Dudley

This is Jazzy
http://wsphotofews.excite.com/009/F7/1P/3n/rI93918.jpg[/IM G][/UR L]

Hmmm; somehow you got some {UR L] code in there. What you
needed was ONLY code, like this:
http://wsphotofews.excite.com/009/F7/1P/3n/rI93918.jpg[/IM G]

[img]http://wsphotofews.excite.com/009/F7/1P/3n/rI93918.jpg

This is DeeDee
http://wsphotofews.excite.com/022/39/x3/FL/rC32086.jpg

This is Sox

http://wsphotofews.excite.com/037/MW/R7/iB/rp85910.jpg[/IM G][/UR L]

Same problem as above - mixed un [UR L] code...

You needed this:
http://wsphotofews.excite.com/037/MW/R7/iB/rp85910.jpg[/IM G]

[img]http://wsphotofews.excite.com/037/MW/R7/iB/rp85910.jpg

Well there's 4 of them...I'm going to wait until tomorrow when
I'm not ready to fall asleep at the keyboard. Thanks for everyone's
interest in the poochies.
Aly, Sox is a female...I know that goes against all reason
that she is interested in the remote! lol

[Editing NOTE:] Where I've shown lines of code above ~ I have
Very Intentionally [i]Inserted Spaces when I typed the
"IMG" or "/IMG" codes so you follks can SEE them. To make them
WORK - you NEVER put spaces anywhere within a line of code - NEVER!!!

Good Job, Mugsy - You're getting the hang of this picture posting game!

In an attempt to make this tutorial on Pet Talk Picture Posting
a little more complete; I'll copy a set of steps I posted on
another of Mugsy's topics.

Please NOTE:
These steps mention WebShots and use an example
of Mugsy's photo from WebShots; but the Basic Steps are valid
for any photo stored on any internet server.

AND... My Operating System is Windows 98, Second Edition;
my Browser is NetScape version 4.78.
IF your Op System and/or Browser are different, then
the steps you must take might be slightly different!

That said; remember that the Code Lines shown as
examples are what you must end up with for your pictures to
post properly on Pet Talk ~ just remember that there are
NOT to be ANY spaces in a line of code! Those spaces
you see were put there to prevent the Pet Talk software from
treating those lines as "valid" instruction codes. Without those
extra spaces you could not have seen the code ~ the BBS would
have made a picture.

Here are the *steps* to follow ~ AFTER you have your pictures
uploaded to a site such as WebShots.com (http://www.webshots.com/homepage.html).

Start a post here on Pet Talk;

Open WebShots in another browser window;
Click on the thumbnail to get the next larger photo;
RIGHT-Click on the larger photo;
Select and Click "Copy Image Location";

Come back to your post on Pet Talk;
Click on the "IMAGE" button below the message block;
Point the arrow/cursor Inside the pop-up address block;
** RIGHT-click the mouse;
** a drop-down menue with a choice of "Paste" should appear;
Select and Right-click "PASTE";

Now you should see a line in the message block like this:
http://wsphotofews.excite.com/037/9J/J2/cS/qJ96474.jpg[/IM G]

Finish your message and post it!

Now for the real thing:
"Mugsy's Vonney napping on the coffee table"...

[img]http://wsphotofews.excite.com/037/9J/J2/cS/qJ96474.jpg

"ZZzzz...Oh I'm sorry, was I snoring?"
--------------------------------------------

WebShots Thumbnail sized photos make great signature photos.
The steps to code a photo into you signature file (located on
your profile page) are exactly the same as outlined above.

If you want to display a photo in the body of a post, use the
next size larger photo - the one you'll get
by clicking on
the Thumbnail photo.

OK, Folks; Picture Posting 101 class is over for
tonight! If I've managed to totally confuse you ~ send me an
e-mail at:
and I'll try to un-confuse you!

What adorable dogs! I love them! The pic of Vonnie sleeping on the coffee table is a trip :) They really are beautiful dogs. I am really drawn to Dudley. He has such soulfull eyes and such a dear, loving expression.

Will you give them all a hug for me, please?

Thanks for the pictures, we were all anxious to see your furkids. It's nice to finally be able to see what a lovely pack you have :)

Mugsy - they are all so adorable! Give them all a hug from me!
My question is, how on earth do you keep that fishtank from getting crashed into by crazy poochies!!??? That is the main reason I don't have any fish - I'd be afraid to have the tank and the dogs in the same room!

Congratulations Mugsy on learning how to post the pictures. It took us all some learning to do it but being able to see everyone's furbabies makes it worth while! Thanks for sharing your kids with us! They are georgeous! :D

Ok, I'm feeling brave....I'm trying again. I'm going to start with Tigger this time. Not the best picture of him, but it's the only one on that CD. Oh yes, The BED, we think the culprit was Vonnie. He is such a butthead...but we love him!! lol Naughty is one word to describe it!!! hehehe

George and Jazzy are stealing my heart just like Sox did. Your household must be heaven :)

mugsy
10-24-2001, 11:44 AM
Most of the time it is! lol Jazzy is actually pretty petite for a Dane, she's only 115 pounds. She is tall though...all legs!! Everyone loves George, he is so sweet. Right now he's sleeping on the couch while Sophie, Daisy, Serenity, DeeDee, and Tobey all roughhouse and bark around him...what a riot!

Oh yes, I had to tell you guys this, I figured of all people you would get a laugh out of this. I was in the bedroom this morning and heard paper rustling out in the living room, so I gimped my out to the living room on my crutches and was greeted by Serenity with no head...it was totally submersed in a Doritos bag. You could see the bag suck in and out when she would breath and hear her crunch crunch on the chips. I was mad at her for getting them off the table, but I was laughing so hard I couldn't punish her!

10-24-2001, 11:51 AM
I am in LOVE!!!! The pictures are great! My goodness - your vet and dog food bills must be enormous! How wonderful to have a house full of beautiful faces like all of theirs. Each picture you took says soooo much! They are great!

Thanks for sharing them all!

Loved the pics, mugsy! I can't have too many dog pics to look at.
Thanks for the tutorial Phred. I followed along the whole thing. But...dang!...I've got a Mackintosh operating system . Macs use different words & formats from PCs. And...dang the second!...my browser is Internet Explorer.
But I got the principles of how things work from your great tutorial. Now to translate it to a Mac! Thanks, thanks, thanks.

Well, let's not get crazed here. Most of them are pretty well trained, but the jumping thing is a problem. Sox and Serenity are our wild children. And BARKING!!! Sheesh, all of ours have got a set of lungs. Edwina's Secretary is going to visit tomorrow, you can ask her!
