I took the little ones into work today so one of the vet's there can compare the severity of Emma's eyes to Phoebe's eyes. He wanted to see if he's at least be able to do Phoebe's eyes as they had thought her's weren't missing as much eyelid.

They were wrong. Turns out that they have about the same amount of eyelid missing. They said that they'd like to see how Emma deals with her surgery, and then attempt it on Phoebe.

What do you all think? The only positive in doing that, is it would save me $$. That's all I can see.

I would prefer to have the specialist do both kittens at the same time. That way, they'd have each other for the day while they recooperated and they wouldn't roughhouse when they got home as they'd both be feeling the same. Above all, the specialist would do it. That would mean we'd have to come up with double the money we thought, but I really do feel its the best way.

What do you all think? I know I need to look at it from a logical standpoint, but I'm too attached to these little girls to just make a $$ decision.

Anyway...here are some pictures we took of the little furbies this week and tonight.... :) Their eyes really glow with that flash!

They sure are adorable.:D If you can afford it then I'd have both of them done at the same time. If you can't then since Phoebe's eyes seem to be worse, I'd have her operated on first. Good luck and please keep us updated.

I have no advice to give but I do want to say those girls are adorable. I can't get over their paws - too cute!!

I hope and pray everything will go well for them and I will be anxious to hear.

So you are keeping both girls? Not just Phoebe? What happened with their brothers? Have they found homes yet?

You are in my thoughts and prayers. They are both adorable. If it was my decision to make I would have them both done the same time. They would both recover the same time. Keep us posted on their condition and whatever you decide to do.

Good luck to them both. I would be tempted to do one at a time, but then I do not know if holding off on one cat would be harmful or not. I am not sure I could handle the stress of BOTH going into surgery at the same time.

I will be praying for you and the little kitters!! They both look so sweet.

I really have no other advice... except for if they both really need it than... it would be a plus to have both surgeries together... so they can heal together..

However I don't really know!

*KISSES* for both of them!!!

I can understand both viewpoints:
- the doctors wanting to see how one surgery goes before attempting the second one
- the practicalities of having both done at once in terms of recovering together.

You have a difficult choice to make and unfortunately I have now words of wisdom to offer you. Please know that you will all be in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated.

Prayers are on the way from the Lost Cats Hotel. I do wish that it could be more , but I am trying to pay off my own Vets!

Thanks so much everyone. :)

Your prayers really, really mean a lot to me. I know how important PT prayers are. :)

I really feel like we should have both kittens eye's done at the same time. They can't get it done until around January (they'll be 5 months old), so that'll give us time to save the $$. I've already let my boss know that I'll work extra hours, so that will really help.

Thanks again! :) :) :)

jazzcat, the boys found homes. Yay! I would like to keep these ones, but I'm not so sure it'll be approved of by our other cats. We're still deciding...but in my heart, I know it'd be best that they both find homes...for the sake of our cats. Regardless, we'll be keeping them until after their surgery...I'm finding it VERY hard to find anyone that wants a kitten with eye problems. :(

Kelly the kitty angel! :)
I've missed you around here!!!
This is such a tough call....and I think you will ultimately know what you can do and what is best. You have already done so much! These kitties are SO LUCKY!!! :D :D :D
Thanks for posting these updated pictures --- I just love these cuties! They've really grown a lot!
(((BIG HUGS))) and keep us all updated!

I think you're making the right decision to have them done at once. I can see both points though, and I can't see you going too wrong either way.

What I DO know is that these cats are so lucky to have you. :D

You all are so sweet. I feel my PT friends are the only one's that don't think I'm crazy for doing this for them.

When my mom found out how much it'll cost, she said, "You aren't paying for that, are you??" I just sat there. She wont ever understand. There's no way we'll ever tell my in-laws.

I know the people at work think I'm some crazy cat lady...so be it. I'm proud to be that if it makes my fuzzies and myself happy! So there!

What is making me sad is I know we shouldn't keep them. Its going to rip my heart out to have to give them up...but its what's best for our six (six? my goodness!!!). :(

Anyway, sorry for the ramblings....just needed to vent a bit and to thank you all for understanding me.

Love, Kelly :D

You're very easy to understand, Kelly! :)
You're generous, compassionate & caring! :D Like so many on PT!
Don't let the others get you down! EVER!

They are making it VERY hard to "want" to find them homes!! I'm sitting here working on a paper for school and they are both asleep in my lap.

Too freaking cute!!!

Being known as the crazy cat lady is one of the best compliments around :D

Kelly,
I honestly think you will keep those precious girls. :)
I can't see you spending all that money and after sir jury care, then rehoming those darlings.
I think your 6 kitties WILL get used to the new girls, given time.
But whatever will be will be, if a good home comes along you can make your mind up then

Thinking of you & yours :D
