We have a 10 month old shih-tzu who has been menstruating for a week. Does anyone know how long they bleed for or how often? We will be getting her fixed as soon as it is okay.

Most females usually come into heat
in six months intervals, that last approx.
21 days.
The earlier you spay her the better.

(dont know if what i just wrote went through cause i dont see it but ill rewrite it again)
Well today we took our 11month pup to the vet. to make sure shes up to date on her shots cause ill be traveling with her and to find out about getting her fixed. WELL.....Lucky for us to find out (which we had an idea it was coming) shes in heat. doc. told us shes in her 8-9 day in heat. Now we know why she wants to go outside all the time (she wants a boyfriend haha) and vet doc. said it last 3 wks. first wk coming in, second wk (the busy wk, i suppose thats when theyre at the "peak") and then the third wk it and her are calming down. WE knew it was gonna happen sometime soon cause her "thingy" was all big and she was acting funny, and sure enough shes in the middle... thankgoodness it only comes once every 6months!! but we were gonna have her fixed now, looks like we'll just wait. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif we learn something new about our little girl every time we go in... haha

When I rescued my 10 month old boxer, she was pregnant and we didn't know it! She later had six beautiful puppies who all have loving homes now!
