It looks good, but I notice that a lot of the pictures on there aren't of your dog. You might want to credit the people that actually took the pictures. I'm sure you wouldn't want Baby's pictures running around on different sites without your permission. Also you might want to credit some of the information that you have. When you use information from someone else you should give them credit.

I have at least 3 great dane books, pluse my friend is a breeder, and I did research in the library.

I looked up in the dictonary most of the illnesses, and talked to the breeder about what danes might get as they get older. :)

I am taking off the pics off of the other sites asap, I am making my own pics. in paint :)

Then you need to credit the books you got the info from. It's like when you write a paper for school and you have to make a works cited page. Anytime you use information from anyone or any book or website you need to give credit to your source.

Moose

It's a nice site....but I'd have to agree with everyone else that has mentioned that those pictures [and information] aren't yours. Please don't get defensive about it, we're just trying to help. If the true "giver" of the information/pictures happens to see your site and figures out that the information/pictures listed on it are their's, they could take legal action. If you really want to include the information and pictures on your site, just e-mail the site owners/book authors and ask if you could use their material on your own website and promise to cite it. Just some advice that I hope you'll consider.......

Also, I noticed that you put on the bottom of your page |DizzyDanescopyright&right|. I don't know about you or anyone else, but if I saw that and I was the author/owner of the pics or information you used, I would be pissed. You really shouldn't copyright stuff unless it is actually yours. Plus, chances are the stuff you "took" from them is already copyrighted by them.

GoldenRetrLuver

It sounds like you got most of it off sites. :o
Yep, you have to quote it from where you got it from. Even the pictures.

I didnt get one peice of info from a site and I swear to god, even if you find somthing similar I didnt use the site, I swore to my self I wouldent use the internet to get into for the site. I used books and I even reworded it so it is my own. So I dont need to quote, because I reworded all of it. I dont have one pic on the site that isnt mine. I have made all of them and tooken all of them. I took alot of your guyses advise to thoguht thanks.

I, by no means, have the intention of arguing or anything like that......but it just gets frustrating when someone is doing something so blatantly wrong and denies it the whole time. Everyone here is just trying to keep Jynelle out of any serious trouble [um....breaking the law, maybe?] and it just seems to go in one ear and out the other.

All I have left to say it.....Jynelle, if you aren't going to just admit to yourself that you have plagerized [uh....spelling?] the information on your site [just "rewording" it isn't good enough, you still got the information from somewhere/someone], then don't expect us to be sympathetic if and when the wrong person sees your site and really gets you into trouble. Basically......good luck with that.

No, I am not against her. When someone is doing something ILLEGAL I am sure it is bound to get attention.....if you don't like something on Pet Talk let Karen know about it, and don't return to that thread which upset you. I just seems so weird when someone who makes alot of errors in their posts -- comes up with big words and alot of facts they knew little to nothing about a few days or so ago.

That is exactly the way it has been with Jynelle since the very beginning. The going in one ear out the other, not the illegal thing. We try to help and then we are accused of being against her and we suck!

Great site, but you should go back and fix the spelling/grammar mistakes. :) I found a whole bunch of them. It's easier if you get someone else to help you, usually because the writer will miss things that someone else will find and point out.

Does the dane breeder have the internet? If so, maybe you could ask her if she wants to submit her danes pics, or even if she wants to give you some more pics to add to the site. :)

Very true. I have a dog food site that I'm working on, and it would be ***l to remember where I got all this information that my brain has interpreted and stored. It's like saying "I can't tell anyone that my pants are made of cotton because that's what the magazine said and that would be plagurizing."

Changing a few words around is still plagerism.

Normally, a person would take the information stored and write what they have to say about it.

Not copy, paste and change a few words around.

Take a chill pill and a break, and get back to us later G.P. Girl.

I don't think anyone's trying to hurt her. They just want to help her and steer her away from getting herself into trouble. No one is "attacking" her or "putting her down". I'm not going to apologize, because I feel that I have done nothing wrong and I fully support all of my replies to this post. After reading her site [the first time she posted the URL], it was obviously plagerised. I was one of the first people that suggested TM give credit to the information. G.P. Girl I'm not sure what grade your in or if you are still in school. But even me at the college level when I write a paper I have to credit where I got the information from, that doesn't mean I copied anything it just means I'm getting facts and statistics from someone so I have to credit them. I never said that TM copied and pasted information, just that she is using information that came from another source, should they read her site she can get into some legal trouble because it is someone's information. I've read lots of websites that have works cited pages or use footnotes to give credit to where the info was taken from.

I noticed on your site at the bottom of your health issues page you remind people to get annual vaccines for their dogs to "keep them healthy".
I was just wondering if you knew that it's now being widely accepted to not get annual vaccines as it is believed that over vaccinating pets can lead to many immune deficiency(sp) problems. In fact vet schools in the states do not even recommend following a yearly vaccination protocol anymore. Instead they say every 3 years.

I was just wondering if you knew that it's now being widely accepted to not get annual vaccines as it is believed that over vaccinating pets can lead to many immune deficiency(sp) problems. In fact vet schools in the states do not even recommend following a yearly vaccination protocol anymore. Instead they say every 3 years.

wow I didnt know that!!... We get our dogs vaccinated every year, I read on a brochier{sp} from the vet that yearly vaccines are good to have.. humm.. I will phoen the vet monday and talk to him again..

Its actually just rabies that they switched to 3 years. All the other shots are still yearly here.

Actually it's not. Many studies are being done on the effects of yearly vaccines. And vet schools are now recommending that people get shots on a 3 year basis.

One other little interesting tidbit of info is that the one year and the 3 year rabies vaccine are the same vaccine, they just have different labels.

Oh and so you don't think I'm spouting off the top of my head I'm going to go find my links to articles on the subject :)

MAJOR HEALTH ISSUES!

(")CANCER: Among the most pressing health concerns of great danes today is cancer as the breed has shown a high incidence of tumors, both melignant and benign. Cancers, of course, pose a fatal threat to great danes, and, though its occurrence is largely unpredictable, breeders pay close attention to its presence in their bloodlines and make every effort to avoid breeding direct offspring of cancer victoms.(") (Quoted from the Guide to owning the great dane)

"HEART POBS: The great danes heart presents problems in many bloodlines. Among the heart problems from which the great dane suffers are Cardiomyopthy, Heart murmur, Heart tumors, and subaortic. The form of cardiomypathy that affects great dabes is known as DILATED cardiomypathy (DCM). It is commonly found in large breed dogs. It usually isnt identifable untill at least 3-4 years of age. Signs of the disease include an increased heart rate, unusual intolerance for excercise, difficulty breathing, coughing and general depression.(")( Quote from guide to owning a great dane.)

I have to agree with you there. Vets are now starting to realize vaccines can cause major health issues, the most common is cancer. Here we no longer vaccinate for Corona........very rarely, and Bordetella every three years. The only thing we do yearly is Distemper/Parvo vaccine. Of course some vaccines have more than one in them, so some people end of getting them every year. For cats, we do not vaccinate til about every other year for FRVCP etc. Leukemia is now given in the shoulder so if there happens to be cancer later on a limb can be removed and save the cats life, whereas if they still vaccinate in the scruff, and the cat gets cancer there is nothing they can do. I for one think vaccines are overused.

I take it upon myself to PM the person if I have a problem or simply go back to the thread and apologize. She changed the site, so be it. Stop arguing. It only makes YOU look bad! And others here care to read something of substance. Like Karen says, go pet your pets, give them kisses and come back when you care to post politely.

Jynelle, I am glad you changed the site. All of us here were simply trying to help you. I do not however think that being rude (and this goes for others as well) is going to do any good. Agree to dissagree and move on. I do want to say that I love the graphics you drew up in Paint, they are very cute. :) I do wish you well with your pup, and may she live a long happy life with your family.

I would never vaccinate for Bortadella, but that's just me.
I also am not going to vaccinate my dogs at all anymore. I did get them titer tested for parvo and distemper last year and they were really high for both. I will get them titered for rabies next year and then that will be all :)

I'm afraid that Jynnelle's post would be deleted if she does, so there's really no point. :)

On a lighter note...

Cass, who do you no longer vaccinate against Corona? (I thought it was called Corola lol :o ). I read on a breeder's site that even though it is quite rare and very expensive, it should always be vaccinated against. :) Just curious incase I need to know anything.

I also agree that vaccinations aren't the heavenly things we used to think they were. I read that the diseases they vaccinate against should never EVER come back for life if the body builds up just one immunity to it only once.

But if you want to go on vacation or something, you'll be required to have your dog vaccinated, so I guess that's that.

Here at our clinic and other clinics in our area we have not seen a case of Corona in AGES, so it's not worth vaccinating for since it's almost extinct here. As far as boarding vaccines are concerned, usually most boarding facilites only require an UTD rabies and Bordetella. Oh and I mean dogs too.

No kidding Julie. This is getting ridiculous. You know how many times I've heard "I'm not wasting any more time on you." Ok, well Brooke kept saying that in this thread, even went as far as pming the exact same statment, and many other people have said it in the past. So why waste your time, hm? Kay Ann, lastnight you said you wish people would take their own advice. Isn't that pretty much the same thing as doing what you say you will? And Jynnelle, just ignore the rude comments and bad attitudes, not just in this thread, but about EVERYTHING. As I don't see this ending in this thread or any time soon if we have children running around fighting and making comments that would be better off in PMs.

This thread is about Jynnelle's site. Leave it about the site. You gave her advice and she took it. What more do you want?!

LOL, I say "Mehhh" too!

I've been saying "Maaah" alot lately too. It started when my friend and I were watching the Two Towers...You know that part where they walk up to the burned carcasses of the Orks (sp?)? And there's that head on a pike with it's mouth hanging open? My friend and I at the exact same time said "MAHHHHH" LOL. So now we say it all the time.

EH HUH MEHHH and MAHHH

Glad everyone is getting along now. Let's end this thread, as it has gotten waaaaayyyy off topiv. Remember to always be polite here, never swear, and be nice!

Learning to cite sources is a good thing, and hopefully everyone now knows to do that - for papers, websites, whatever. It's a case of better safe than sorry.

Lol, I'm always adding eh..meh..mah...bah at the end of my sentences on msn and aim lol. It's like a filler..when I have nothing to say, I fill up the conversation with all sorts of jibberish.

Well, you can say that again. I say *huh* way more than I say *eh*.............but I DO say *eh*. It just depends on who I'm talking to! *Huh*, I say that to everyone! :p :o :o
