What a lovely morning I have had.

This morning I got up and went to the bathroom. It was so painful, like peeing razor blades. Yep, I have a bladder infection.
:( This is my second one and by goodness they are one of the most painful things I have ever had to deal with. They hurt so bad, that I wouldn't wish them on anybody. The reason I get them is because I never drink water and hardly ever drink liquid. I'm just never thirsty or anything, but from now on I will start drinking water every day, those 8 glasses that we need!

Urrgh, I am in so much pain right now. Just moving and I hurt down there. So I went to the kitchen cabinet to look for some penicillian and you wouldn't believe what I found! A major ant colony. I swear there were thousands of ants. I took pictures because it was just unbelievable.

Anyways, the reason I need prayers is because last time my infection wasn't treated early enough and it turned into a kidney infection, and the doctor said it was the worst infection they had seen. :( I was peeing blood and could barely move, and it took over a week to cure me. So I do not want this one turning into that, plus tomorrow night we need to go to a Bday party so I cannot be in pain because I have to go.

Oh yes and let me also tell you about my lovely spider I had in my hair today. When I was going to the bathroom this morning, the painful one (could I be more modest?) I had a lovely baby black widow hanging from my head, nice huh? Then the painful urinating, and then this stupid ants. I fought them for an hour trying to kill every one and make sure none escaped from the sink while I was rinsing things out. I couldn't just throw them away because this was my chance of killing them and stopping this stupid ant infestation.

Oh no!
Get thee to a doctor quick! I know how painful they are! I had a severe one too that went to into both kidneys and was pretty bad... almost had to be hospitalized. Get it looked after as soon as you can! Drink lots of water and cranberry juice... it will help flush things out. And don't forget to take ALL the prescribed medication! :)
Ants?!? We are infested right now too! We treat them for a bit, they disappear but eventually they cme back.

OMG what a day you've had. There's always plenty of prayers to go around. Start that medication right away. Makes me think of my poor Speckles when she had her bladder infection and peeing blood. Poor girl. Prayers on the way..

And drink as much water as you can. Cranberry juice also helps. I have a big thermos and drink water ALL day long.

I'm so sorry! Bladder infections suck! When we were in Hawaii, I got one. I was on vacation so I didn't go to the doctor. By the time I got home, I had a kidney infection. I was so miserable on the last day that I almost didn't even get on the plane to go home. Go to the doctor before it gets worse! And yes, lots of cranberry juice.

Go to the store and buy a quart of cranberry juice and drink it.
I'm not kidding - it is nature's cure for bladder infections. Also, continue to drink as much water as you can, this helps dilute the nasties and flush your system. For the time being, avoid caffeine and alcohol as those are harder on your system.

I'm not kidding - this has worked miracles for me. I never get full blown infections anymore because whenever I feel that tell-tale twinge, I take care of myself with the cranberry juice and the water.

(of course, if you aren't feeling better, see a doctor. )

This ant problem has been going on for a few years now. But we never thought of looking inside a box of Frontline to see if they were in there. They actually had their nest in our house, inside a Frontline box (my RB dogs) and a box that has breast feeding bags in it. They had eggs and everything in there, along with several other bigger ants, but I didn't see a queen unless she went down the drain before I noticed her. It took literally an hour to get all these ants down that drain.

As far as the bladder infection, Dan is at work and since I don't drive the only way to get to a doc is to have him take me, and since I don't have Dylans car sear with me, it's in the car, I can't have a friend drive me either. Tomorrow I am going to see if Dan can take the morning off to take me to the docs. In the meantime I took a penicillan, which is what they gave me the last time. I will for sure go to the doctors because I know how bad the pain can be and I never want to feel that again.

do you have a friend that can go to the store for you and get the cranberry juice?

in the meantime, drink lots of water.

I actually have some here. I have been drinking cranberry juice since the last time I got the infection..........ok, well I have the little frozen things in the fridge but haven't exactly been drinking them like I should.

:( What a horrible start to the day:(

I used to always get bladder infections and I recommend Azo (it's cranberry juice in a pill form). Of course it won't get rid of it, but it will keep you from getting another. I haven't had one for over 2 years now:D And WATER, WATER, WATER and plenty more WATER!!!!

Ok here are the pics. I was looking for medicine for me when I came across Morgans Frontline that was leftover from after she went to Rainbow Bridge ( I also have a years supply of Heartguard left too!) and I was like cool, so I took it out to see if it was full. Then I saw ants. This is the first thing I saw.

Yes I was too lazy to do the dishes last night. :p So I thought oh just a few ants, I'll wash them off no biggie. Well then I look inside and an actual nest was in there.

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid84/pa561bc4096091851d5517504f20735cd/facef4c2.jpg

So I turn on the water and try washing them down the drain, which took forever because they were crawling up the sides of the sink and there were hundreds of ants. In this pic you can see their eggs, and most were about to hatch too. The offwhite things are the eggs.

Well after I killed that bunch and got them all down the drain I did the dishes and decided to check the cubbard again and clean it out, and then I found this too!

They are so bad they actuall fall on you from above. The exterminator has been here so many times and nothing works. :(

Luckies4me you have my deepest empathy, UTI's are just the most awful thing, that was what my daughter was going through, and at 11, it had to be checked out, the fact it got to your kidneys is not good, you would have been feeling just soooo..bad.

My daughter always has drunk plenty of water, but she is just prone to them, some people are just like some people are prone to colds.

Can anyone tell me if those cranberry pills are safe for children, she is not too keen on the juice?

DRINK, DRINK, DRINK , and maybe you should take something like CITRAVESCENT(SP) drink, it helps to reduce the acid in the urine, but check with your doctor first, so it does not interact with the antibiotics.

Your poor girl, you have been having it real rough lately, with all your worries, etc, maybe its time for a multi-vitamin and a HOLIDAY.
Take Care now!!!!!!

OMG...  You killed them ? OMG, how could you?
I don't know what to say, I am so totally shocked by these pics
of innocent defenseless ants(just trying to live out their lives in
peace) who had their lives cut short by your thoughtless act.
I am just shocked & stunned beyond belief. How could you?

You really should have posted a warned notice on this thread
for those of us super sensitive to seeing pics of dead ant bodies
all over the screen. I think I'm getting sick to my stomach
over this whole gruesome episode.

Oh... and lizbud - you're not serious, are you? There was no ;) or j/k or anything, so I'm not sure... but if you aren't (kidding)... wow.

No she's just making fun of me for a reply I made on another thread, which to me was just, but well oh well.

And for the record, the pics didn't contain dead ants either. They were all very much alive thank you very much. And seems like the ones that went down the drain are still alive as they crawled back up and are now all over my kitchen.

Of course, if you wanted, I could catch them all again, throw them in the blender and take a pic of some ant puree. :p

 ewww! Those pictures are really gross!! :gak:

I truly empathize about the UTI's though. Ever since I had my last one (summer'02 I think) I started to force myself to drink lots of water. It's much easier to drink water now, but it took some getting used to.

This is a typical day:

Morning: 4 oz of juice
16 oz. of coffee

Day: (3) 24 oz. bottles of water
12 oz. of soda

Evening: 16 oz of water at dinner
8 oz of water at bedtime

Total: 128 oz.

Since I started drinking this much, I feel sooo much better. I don't get an afternoon fatigue anymore, and I've cut down on headaches by about half. I definitely recommend drinking more!!!!

Yes, holding you and your family in my prayers.

Yikes, look at those ants!

Sorry about the blatter infection. :( The last time I had one, it lasted for years! I was just a child, and I wet the bed up until the time I was five. My mom thought I was just stupid, but the doctor said it was because I was holding my pee for days at a time and I got a terrible infection. Yeah, I was one crazy kid.

I know I should drink it but hearing this makes me want to do it more. I just need to make myself drink it, and that's that. Maybe that will be my New Years Resolution, to drink more water. :)

Thank you so much. :) I am going to try to go to the Emergency Clinic tomorrow morning to get some antibiotics. It actually feels a tad bit better after having drunk a lot of water today.

As far as the ants are concerned, they are still here but most of them are gone now, and at least the eggs are down the drain and hopefully they won't hatch. We opened a thing of Terro liquid and put that in the cabinet to try to bait the rest. Hopefully it will work, if at least for a little while.

Gosh I am amazed so many people dislike drinking water, I love it, luckies4me, do you have filtered water, also there are many flavoured waters you can buy today, maybe you should give those a go. DRINK THAT WATER!!!!!!!

Are you not already on antibiotics,? if not gosh you should be straight away, if its in your kidneys, you DONOT want to muck around with that.

Hey I really hope you are feeling a bit better!!!!!!!!

luckies4me
10-16-2003, 08:17 PM
No it is just in the beginning stages or else I would be in more pain than I am. I took a penicillan already that I had leftover here until I get go to the docs tomorrow. :)

carole
10-16-2003, 08:33 PM
May I ask why you are waiting until tomorrow?, the sooner you get on to this the better, have you had penicillan prescribed for this before, because certain antibiotics are required for UTI., some are better than others.

If it is in your kidneys, then you should be at that Doctor NOW.

Sorry if i am lecturing, but I am concerned, please look after yourself!!!!!!!

luckies4me
10-16-2003, 08:39 PM
Yes I was prescribed penicillan last time. I do not have insurance therefor I have to go to Planned Parenthood as a walk in, and I am not even sure if I can go tomorrow either, so it might not be ablt to until Monday. So since I don't have insurance I don't have a doctor, and I can't go to the ER because I am not going to pay over 800 dollars just for a bladder infection when I can go get treated for free. ;) But I am going to try to go tomorrow. The only thing is Dan works he has the car, and I don't know how to drive and there has been no time lately for me to learn.

carole
10-16-2003, 08:45 PM
Oh I see, your health system works very different from ours, it only cost around 25 dollars for a visit, if you have a community services card.
Its just that you really need treatment, these things can be so serious , especially if you have it in the kidneys, well good luck anyhow, let us know how you get on, and I hope you are not in too much pain ok

luckies4me
10-16-2003, 08:51 PM
Ok well I am going for sure tomorrow as I just talked Dan into it. It's just been so busy for him at work lately and they have so many t-shirts to do. It's not that bad, trust me, it was way worse last time and this time I caught it early now that I know what it is. So, I am going tomorrow and will let you know what they say. :) Hopefully I can get some good meds and be all better soon. I noticed though that after drinking a lot of water today it hurts less, but is still noticable. Last time I waited for SEVERAL days and had no idea what was going on, and then I decided to go in and they told me I had a bladder infection that spread to my kidneys. This time I will clear up fast.

I can't believe it is so cheap for health services there. Dylan has insurance but I cannot afford it for myself. Dan too also has insurance. I may actually be able to get it free through the state so I am going to apply soon. It is around 500 dollars a month for health insurance, just way too much money, and so of course I chose Dylan to have it, and I will wait. When I go back to a job that has health insurance I should be covered, but so many companies here do not offer health insurance for their employees. :(

luckies4me, I have private medical insurance, a lot of new zealanders choose not to, but it is only for surgical cover, and it costs me 600 dollars per year for my family of four, but we only get specialist fees paid back if we have surgery, like with Melissa, I did not get any of the fees back, but hey I did not care, as she did not need surgery yay!!!!!

I pay 25 dollars a doctors visit, and less for children, the hospital is free at this stage, but there is a long waiting list.

Just comparing prices, the consultant visit for melissa was $120, second visit only $40 and $225 for the IVP, that is not bad really.

We here complain about our health service, but I guess it is comparatively cheap compared to other countries.

Well we can afford to get me insurance but it's not really worth it really. It's just too much money that I can use for something else, like saving to get a house etc. I figure, if I need to go to the doctors and it's bad I will go to the ER or just pay for it if I have to. I rarely get sick. We are actually thinking of adding myself to Dan's insurance someday soon, but will get the OHP until then.

Ok I didn't go to the doctors. The reason being is this. Remember I said that it as getting better? Well I don't feel anything now whatsoever, but Dan is bringing me home a jug of cranberry juice today. Perhaps I really don't have a UTI. I think I may have just been irritated because I wasn't drinking anything, like almost nothing. I just don't drink. Since I drank a lot of water yesterday I feel more alive lol and the pain is gone. So we decided for Dan to go to work and then I will go to the docs on Monday just in case. Or it may be the antibiotic I took, but I doubt it would work that fast.

carole
10-18-2003, 01:27 AM
now I really am more worried about you, from what you described before you were in a great deal of pain, cannot just be nothing, and you know you have to have a complete course of antibiotics to clear things up so I doubt that would have done it.

Well at least you know it is not in your kidneys, as you would be very ill by now if it were , so that is good news and a relief.

Just tell me you are still going to get it checked, it might come back, or be something else entirely.

Now look after yourself, and DRINK UP please, ok.

10-18-2003, 01:25 PM
Thanks Carol. I think I know what it was caused from but it's nothing I want to discuss here. I will for sure be going to get it checked. As of now though, I feel like crap because it is that time of the month and my body just aches and aches. I didn't even get out of bed until an hour ago. I was supposed to go pick up my new birdies today but I doubt I can get out of the house, let alone go ride a horse, which is what I was supposed to do.

oh good glad to hear that you are gonna be ok, I know you are not feeling good today though, Endometrosis, (sp) is no fun for sure, stay in bed, with a nice hot wheatpack, take some painkillers, and get that man of yours to pamper you ok. Take care sweetie.
