Anyone have a DOG with eosinophilic gingivitis? I believe it is rare in a dog and mostly seen in cats.

Hi ther,
Well I have tried, I really have but the best I can come up with is a pathetic yes it is more common in cats and seems to have something to do with persistant licking of the site. Even this is concerning ulcers rather than gingivitus. Sorry matey, can you ask your vet to explain things in more detail and then explain it to me!?

I guess it can be related to an autoimmune disorder, allergies and the like. No definite answers. I guess it's an inability to fight off certain bacteria? It's in his mouth. They did a biopsy and that is what turned up. Prednisone and Clindamycin seem to help. Thanks very much for trying to find info for us. I guess there's not much out there for this in dogs.
