I don't know if this has been asked before but I'm curious of the age of your oldest cat? Up until the past few years I thought cats had a life span of 10-12 years at best. Glad to know I was wrong!

Ripley is 11 years 7 months and is my first and oldest cat. I hope and pray to have many more years with him.

My husband's cousin's cat lived to be a little over 20 years and that is the oldest cat I've known personally.

When Sherman came to us in 1993, I think he was between 4-7 years old. So that puts him between 14-17, maybe even 18 now... however, he's still pretty agile, so maybe he's on the lower end of that guestimate. I hope he is.

I hope this photo worked. Our Ernie died this past April and he was 17 years old. This is the oldest any of our cats have lived. He was just wonderful and so sweet - he would come when he was called and his "person" was our daughter. She was 2 when we rescued Ernie so they grew up together. I can remember her dressing him up in doll clothes and pushing him in a little buggy!! She was the ONLY one who could get him to do such things! He developed kidney failure and died several days before our daughter's wedding. He died peacefully in his sleep. I am so thankful she was still home to be around for him. Right after she married, she moved to Japan. So it all worked out well though I sure do miss him. We immediately adopted a pair of kittens to fill our "empty nest" - there are pictures of everyone here (http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4288999493) including our new grandkitty in Japan.:)

Trevor turned 10 on March 15th (This is an estimated date on the part of the vet). He was just a wee little kitten at the time I got him, so at most he is probably just off a week or so.

We adopted Hana from the shelter two years ago. She's been to 3 different vets and we've gotten 3 different estimates for her age. One said 5-7 , another 7-9 and another 10-15. I'm leaning more towards the later, because she showed me actual physical traits that back up her estimate (spots in her irises, beginning of kidney disease, arthitis (sp?)).

My first cat still lives with my mother and she's roughly 16 at this point (we know what year she was born, but that's about it). She's still doing very well, beating up on her companion nearly everyday.

Just thought I would say it so CHEERS me to read of all these kitties living to ripe old ages, hopefully I have many wonderful years with my Ash and my young Lexie, which I will treasure.

A lovely warm, touching thread I feel.

Thankyou JAZZCAT for starting it. :)

Our kitties are still pretty young. Opie is about 5 yrs old and Kc is I think a year and a half. She might be older. The people we got her from weren't positive about her age. The oldest cat we've had though would be our cat Mamma Kitty. She lived to be 19 1/2 years old.

Sunny turned 3 in August
Sky is 1
Cirrus is 1
They're all still quite frisky and playful too.
I sure hope that they'll be around for a long time and remain healthy and happy too. :) I lost my RB Pepper when he was almost 6 years old and I feel that this was just too young. I wasn't prepared for it. :(

Fluffy found us 14 years ago, and at the time the Vet guessed he was 1 - 2 years old, he is still pretty agile for his age.

Lucky just turned 6 in April, and Yoshi just turned 3 in August.

Butterscotch is oldest at 5 yrs old (he might be yr older according to neighbors where we use to live at apt complex). We go by what vet said at that time back in 1999.

Thumper follows at 4 yrs old now (according to her records at PetSmart she was 2 yrs old when we adopted her)

Skinny brings up rear at 1 yr old :) (educated guess by vet)
