There was a very nice little ceremony at a local park this afternoon. An episcopal church in the neighborhood had a Blessing of the Animals. Yesterday was the feast of St Francis of Assisi. A few dozen people turned out with cats and dogs. Buddy and many of the other dogs were restless, but most behaved OK. There were prayers, and songs. Then the minister blessed each animal individually. Weather was nice.

Just wondered if there was anything like this in your neighborhoods too.

I know that about one month ago, that happened here in Victoria ....... wish I had known sooner, as I would have taken my spotty kids to be blessed too

I have always wanted to do that! And by the time I find out about it, it's already over with. I think that would be so neat to do.

I didn't hear of anything here, and I forgot that it was his feast. DANG! I'm glad that you were able to participate. Any news on Daisy?

I hope it was OK for Buddy to be blessed by a Protestant minister since we are Roman Catholics.... :D J/K

No news about Daisy. Maybe tomorrow I will check the Animal Haven website and see if her picture is on there yet. Seems a bit early though as it's only been 5 days, and she probably needed to be checked by a vet. I hope she'll do OK.

We had something like over here, duing summer. It was an adoption event, and Daisy was blessed by the priest. :)

Yesterday, one of the retirement homes in the area had a Blessing of the Animals. The animals were blessed in a group and then individually blessed. Killian got extra blessings because of his medical conditions. Afterwards we were all invited (dogs included) into the retirement home to meet some of the people and have refreshments (both dog and human)! It is a beautiful new retirement home and they still wanted the dogs to come in. Two of the smaller dogs even hopped on the couches. LOL Killian and Shiloh got a lot of petting. A resident woman invited Shiloh to come to her home in Florida. Shiloh must have liked that idea because she sat right next to the woman after she said that. We had a very nice time and I know the senior citizens enjoyed the visit, too.

Last year at Everett's 'Mutt Strut' they had a Blessing of the Dogs. I know they also did at another dog festival, 'Strut Your Mutt', in Seattle :)

My Catholic church did it on Thursday, but I had to work. I really wanted to take Sylvia and Harley :(
