So I go to the vet tonight, hoping to bring Preacher home. Vet says no, he has to stay tonight since he still won't eat. As I am leaving, my friends are walking out of an exam room with an old shepherd cross. Not their dog. Terry rescued him from one of the small communities in the Yukon. His family moved away and left the old guy to fend for himself. The town AC was going to euth him and Terry being the softie he is, took him instead. Course, they have a dog who hates other males. They can't take Blackie to their place, the shelter is full and the pound is no option! Terry generously paid for Blackie's shots, some antibiotics for an infected wound and will be paying for neutering in a couple weeks. And I brought home the wrong dog!

Nice looking old guy, ain't he?

He's great with other dogs, ignores the cats, seems to be housebroken. He whines and howls if I leave him alone, but I'd have abdonment issues to if I watched my family just drive away! I might have a home for him--I have a co-worker who wants a shepherd, but not a puppy. Blackie is no puppy, hopefully, she won't think he's too old.

Of course you did, you big softie *S*

He's gorgeous. And he doesn't look old, just distinguished.
Fingers crossed for finding him a new home, and sending Preacher some hungry vibes *S*

Bless you for taking him home. I cannot believe how heartless some people are! How cruel to abandon a family member like that. And that's a wonderful thing they're teaching the children too. I hope your coworker loves him to pieces :)

Awwww, what a handsome guy! Northern Canada, huh? And I find myself again saying, "If you weren't so far away..." I would take that boy in a heartbeat.

I hope your possible home for him works out.
