A couple of vets have put together a quick health check-up for your dogs (& cats). It is simple & quick & shows if the dog is in a state of poor health. A vet check can follow so that health problems might be picked up early. http://www.women.com/family/pets/features/PM/f0303checkup.html

Probably the best health indicator is your dog's behavior. Make sure that you spend enough time with your pet that you can notice any changes in behavior that might warrant action. For example: Not eating, not drinking, drinking excessively, becoming lethargic, etc. You know your pet better than anyone so if you keep an eye out for any physical or behavioral changes, your dog will be better off for it!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Thanks! What a great basic checkup we can all do! Prevention and early detection are always the best first line of defense!

Hi everyone, I found this website while searching for cat health issues, but it had one for dogs too, so I thought I would post it. It is an index of dog health issues and behavior that might come in handy as a quick ref!! http://www.vetinfo.com/dogindex.html

You're right. It's an excellent index. I'll be using it a great deal to look up terms relating to dog health. Good to know there's another index for cats (we have 3). Thanks for finding it & sharing it.
