My godmother has a cat that used to be a farn yard cat and now she lives in a complex which doesnt alow cats being out of the house. I am going to take him next year when I move out. My dog Tikeya has already been introduced to him and there was alot of hissing but it was pritty much just talk.

Since I am going to be taking him with me when I move out, should I socalize Tikeya and the cat more?? they have only met once! ...

He is a smokey grey color all over and he is neutered. He loved the outdoors but comes inside befor dark. .... .. . He has a dog at his house right now but it is a dachshund, which is MUCHMUCH smaller then a siberian husky.

.......

any advise??

I know your heart is in the totally right place. BUT, I must tell you to be careful. Huskys have a higher prey drive than weiner's....and it is possible that it won't work out. Since they weren't raised together, it just might not be a good idea. I am not saying it can't work, just that it might not.....

If her complex doesn't allow cats outside of the house, why doesn't she just keep the cat in the house?

because the cat wants to be outside sooo badly. it just sits at the window all day staring and meowing to go outside. .. . It wants to be an outside cat..

And I have a cat right now and Tikeya is ok with it....

I'm not so sure I understand. You're taking him when you are moving out. Do you know where you are moving to? Do you know if they allow outside cats?

Where is he living now?

I think it would be possible to make him an inside cat if somebody actually tried and just gave him a little bit of time and patience to adjust.

Just b/c he WANTS outside doesn't mean he NEEDS to be outside.
And I am confused I thought you said in your previous thread that Fuzzy died? Do you have 2 cats named Fuzzy?

My very first cat was named Fuzzy Wazze and he was a pitch black cat with orange eyes, he dyed because he had bladder crystals :(:(..

NEVER FEED NONAME BRAND CAT FOOD they can cause really bad problems in your cat. my first cat dyed because we fed him no name brand cat food.

IMO I don't think it is a good idea for you to take on another pet at the moment.

I understood you currently live at home with your mother and you have posted several times about how you could not afford basic vet care and basic cages for your smaller animals.

You even asked a fellow poster to request for money on this site (though this thread was later deleted) to covers costs on a potential pet's behalf........ this is how well your money situation is at the moment.

If you can't afford basic costs for your current pets, where are you going to find the money needed to move into your own place ?

You need to wait until you actually are living sucessfully on your own , before you commit to taking on a(nother) cat. Once you are living on your own, you'll see how expensive living on your own is.

I had to wait 7 years before I adopted a cat because I had to wait until I had a secure job and living in my own home (most rentals don't allow pets in the UK)

But if you want hints or help about how to rehome your Grandma's cat, I'm sure PT can help.

I dont want anyone from pt to take Acron I want him and I will and can care for him once I moved out and have a place of my own *or at least rent* .... well if you have your mind made up, then yes you should socialise tikeya and the cat as much as possible before moving out of home.

but i have to agree that getting another animal (a living creature who needs care, good food, AND financial security) may not be a good idea, the cost of living away from home is insane, you have rent, human food bill, plus yearly vet visits, dog/cat food bills, and any unexpected accidents/ vet visits) so you need to make sure you are ready to take on the responsibility of owning and caring for another animal.

Here is an example (one of many threads) of when you explained, your problems with cages for your small animals

ok, I know you are all going to take this bad, but I have find my only options for my gerbils are either:

buy a cage or tank: cant do due to no money, my mom wont let me borrow money either because she says "they are fine together, they love eachother"

Get a divider: I cant, because plexiglass is very expensive here, I checked at home harware. and I dont have the money, and my mom doest want them split up.

Give one away: I am fearing this is what I will have to do. :(..

I made a list on my options because you all made me really think about it. I donot want Sage to keep on having litter after litter for her whole life....

I also think I am going to wait till Sage has her first litter and try to keep Jade away till she is done having them. And then let Jade help Sage out with the litter intull they are weened.

By the time they are weened My Sager will be almost Due, then I can give her and all her pups to the local shelter where they can place her in a HUGE Tank way bigger then mine, and find homes for her and her pups.

I will be taking her to the vet first. And i will be keeping a male pup out of her first litter to be hosued with Jade.

I hope you all understand that I am in the slumps right now I feel sooo bad that I sexed them wrong and trusted the pet store sexed them properly. But they didnt. I guess I will know in a couple of weeks when the pups are due.

I feel this is the best option for her. I descused it with my mom and she agrees that it is sad that she'll be having like 100 pups in her life. So after her first litter she is going to find a home with hopefully one of her daughters.

:(

I am going to get my mom to buy some humming bird nectar she wants some ne ways. I will add it to Sages water asap.

And about sneaking to the vet, that wouldent work. You have to make an appointment and have it approved. I also dont have the money to "sneak to the vet". And if my mom get a bill for it in the mail she would give sage away. along with my hamsters. :(.

I have followed several of your problems with your small pets, I felt sorry for your situation and even posted posts with advice but now you tell me these problems never existed.

Which is right….1) Either your older posts are accurate and you did have a problem with cages and providing vet care for your small pets OR 2) You are know telling the truth and you made those problems up !! Either way, it should be me getting upset not you.

If you read my comments carefully, I was backing up my advice with what evidence I find from your previous postings. I.e. If you mention lack of money and you can’t/don’t pay for your own pet’s cage and vet bills, you can certainly not afford a cat.

If I were you I would wait till I moved into your new place.Even then I would wait for a few months. Your cats will take time to adjust to each other and then if you move . well it might be to much for them to handle. Cats sometimes don't show their stress for a few months. So every time you change somthing, even something so simple like moving the furnature it will take time for them to adjust. We moved a year ago into our house and I wanted one more cat. but my vet told me to wail awhile till we all can get use to the new place. And now we have Billy.Which I dont know if we will ever get use to.
