Ill be the first to admit that my dog is my baby but this is driving me crazy. I have a dog and a ferret, they just dont get along. If Chester(the ferret) is out of his cage and my dog comes in, she runs right back out again. If he is making noise in his cage, she leaves. Ive tried holding her in my room, bribing her with food, praising her, using a baby voice, and nothing works. I cant even get her to stay on the bed while he runs around on the floor. Do ferrets and dogs just not get along or what am I doing wrong?

What kind of dog is she? How long have you had both of them? Who did you have first?

Don’t use a baby voice. Baby voices only reinforce the bad behavior because they sound soothing and like everything’s ok. Everything’s not ok because you don’t want her to be scared and you do want her to be calm. A calm, firm, but gentle voice works much better along with praising her and treating her when the behavior I good. Can you put her in a sit or in a down and praise her, slowly letting Chester get closer? Or maybe you even need to star out with things that smell like Chester and put her in a down or sit and move the scented item closer to her.

Weve had booboo for 5 years this march, and chester for 3 years this april. Booboo is a border collie/mutt-owner said corgie but if you look at her no way-
