Ok, here's the problem. My boxer Nikki and JKRJG24's yorkie, Bear do not get along, but we really want them to. See, like most yorkies, Bear thinks he's bigger than dogs bigger than him. So when he threatens Nikki, she probably says "oh ya! your tiny!" And off starts the fighting! Please help us with ways to coax them into getting along! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/confused.gif

Yes please help! Nikki is fine until Bear starts barking and growling and then Nikki is like oh ya lets fight! Beacause she knows if she stps on him it would break his back!!!! Bear does not back down! Once a Rottwiler Pitbull mix (verry big dog) tryed to attack me and Bear bit him in the leg and would not let go! I grabbed him and ran! WE got away safe but he will never back down!! I'm afraid he will get hurt! Please tell us if you have any ideals!

I don't have the answer. But until you do, please be very careful about having them together. I personally know about too many situations where very small dogs have been killed by a larger dog. All it takes it that grab and shake action that we have seen our dogs do with their stuffed animals.

One of my friends lost her little Maltese because a friendly German Shepard stepped on her and broke her neck. Be careful!

Yes we ALWAYS have Nikki and Bear under control. Nikki is harnessed and tightly held and Bear is in Jojo's arms. We are very, VERY careful! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Well, the bad news is, you guys are unintentionally encouraging this behavior. Don't mean to sound mean, but examine how you two respond to them being so aggressive. I suggest putting Bear in a wire crate when they're together and ignoring them. Eventually, they'll settle down and start getting along better. Just think about how you're doing and change that behavior. Good luck.

My old yorkie used to think she was big and bad no one could even walk on the side walk across the street without her barking! She barked at dogs 4 times her size! Bear is probably trying to protect his teritory. Ktreva52 gave good advice, put bear in a crate and have Nikki around and then totally ignore them! Jojo and boxerlover Harley, my 7 month old cocker spaniel, you guys know her she acts big and bad too! she attacks my black lab who is way bigger then her!!!

I hate to tell you this but it was not our falt!!!!! Me and Erika reacted perfictly calm and just held them! Me and Erika kept them together with me holding Bear and Erika holding Nikki! I WILL NOT put bear in a crate and ignore him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/eek.gif He is almost 14 years old and if he was with her and I was ignoreing him he wold not be happy! We have stopped trying because he is so old and he has heart problems and could easily have a heart attack!!!!!!!! Thank you for trying but I do not agree!!!!!!!!!!!!
