View Full Version : Post Card Exchange....

I've seen some other message boards do this... and I was wondering what PT thought about it. :)

I think it would be neat to recieve a post card from other states and countries.

It would be similar to the Christmas card exchange. :)

Thoughts? Comments?

(I'll start an Interested List) :)

Sounds fun! I wasn't around for the Xmas card swap. How does it work?

Count me in for this! collecting postcards from all over the world is one of my major hobbies!!
An idea: we could first make a list of everyone who is interested. Then we give the addresses to all who wants to participate.

Oh, I would just LOVE it to receive postcards from so many different places!!:)

Pretty much anyone who is interested gets their name on a list. Usually one person is in charge of collecting the addresses... then they email or PM the collected addresses on the list.

You then get a postcard for everyone on the list. :)

I think a way to make it real fun is to get a postcard that reflects your city, state, or country. :)

I would very much like to participate in this.. but this is a concern for me: I can't afford to do both postcards and Christmas cards. I've talked to Tonya/Zippy about the Christmas cards this year, so I'm pretty sure that list will be sent out again. If we do the post cards, can we wait to send them out until after Christmas? Otherwise, I can't participate :(

EDIT: I just remembered.. isn't there also a gift swap scheduled for February? I really want to participate in that too. I may just have to say no to this post card list. Stamps are REALLY expensive when you are sending out a lot of cards at once! Sorry, everyone. No for me :(

I also wanted to participate on this as I collect cards, but there's no way we can afford to send out so many cards :( I also have to pass. I can admire the cards at Lut's then ;) :D

Naomi is right. To send a postcard here in the states it costs .23 cents. I am not sure what a postcard costs to send overseas.

We are a little over three months away from Christmas.........we might be pushing everyone's budget out of whack.

I do realize it's close to Christmas....

Well... shall we wait and do a post card exchange next year (spring or summertime)?

Or go ahead with this exchange now and do another next summer. :)

It is such a fun idea, I don't think any of us want to throw cold water on it. Spring or summer would be good. Perhaps a middle of the year event - like July would be good.

Perhaps we should wait and see if many people want to participate in it now, and then if so we could go ahead. I personally would like to, but I can also wait for spring. We could have another in the spring or summer for those who don’t want to do it now.

Why don't you go ahead with the participants you have now, Kim, and then we might schedule it for an easier time going forward.

I still have extreme guilt over all the beautiful cards and pictures I got this past Christmas, but I didn't get to send mine with all the wedding plans and the move. :o

I'd love to join in!! This will probably be the ONLY chance any of you have to get a postcard from BAHRAIN - not exactly a hot holiday destination!

If any of you collect post cards and are NOT able to participate (for financial or whatever reason) PM me and I'll send you a postcard too - not expecting one in reply!

I'm interested but at this point don't know if I'll be able to participate. It's pretty iffy so don't count me in just yet...

Thanks Kimmy/Nomilynn, I needed a reminder to post something about the Xmas card exchange!

I think we should hold off until after the Christmas card exchange. Really, we aren't too far away from that, and with the time involved/expense, I think we should wait until Spring.

Maybe we should have a master calendar of events? My PT life is way busier than my 'real' life, he he he...

I collect postcards:D I have over 200 now:D I love them.
I wish I could participate in this....but I'm pretty sure my dad will say no:( He won't let me give out my address on the Internet, I'm sure you guys understand. But I'm going to ask anyways. I really want to participate though!

That's a good idea, Gini, but not as kitsch as that gorgeous postcard of the dome building at LA airport!!! I have that card at work and it makes me smile :D

I would love to be in, but like some others it might be too close to the Christmas card mailout. I think we sent more than 40 cards overseas last Christmas, and would love to do the same again. I'm so excited as a cat protection society I support has the sweetest cards this year and you probably won't have to see my boofy head on a card this time! ;)

That's really not fair if you only plan to send some and not to all on the list.

Thus, I didn't put you on the interested list. If you can't afford it or you want to wait for the Christmas card exchange, then that is fine.

BTW... this is NOT the Christmas card list. Zippy Cat will take care of that list. :)
