Maggie's Let me introduce myself! *Pics* thread made me think of one of my few childhood cats, Smurf. My mom wasn't a big cat person, so this was pretty much our only cat. Smurf looked alot like Maggie's cat. Anyways...for 13 years, we thought Smurf was female. He got Feline Aids and we had to put him to sleep. We didn't find out that he was a neutered male until the day we put him down. LMAO. I am sure you cat lovers can understand the shock that finding out your girl cat is a neutered male after 13 years. :eek:

Reminds me of a poem I learned years ago (It was in one of David Hope's Fireside Books - 1971 I think) - BTW I have been hunting for the poem for years, so if anyone has the complete poem PLEASE post it....

It was called "The name for the cat",and one verse said:

The name should be short, and easily heard,
Preferably just a one-sylable word;
Jill, or else Sooty, remember the sex
Call a Tom "Mary" his spirit you'll vex
