LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL,

In my never ending quest to find a tie-in to the movie, the bar theme and just plain madness, I present...

Jello Shots!!!!!!

Prepare Jell-O according to package with boiling water, let cool a bit. Substitute Vodka for the cold water, pour into mold(s) and chill.

The tie-in is the scene where Bluto (John Belushi)
goes thru the cafeteria line and eats the block of Jello off the plate, in one gulp!!!!

Name your flavor!!!!

and don't forget your olive leaf crowns...
The Zip Meister gets a tiara and a mat so she can
Yoga, yoga, yoga, yoga...

You know,

it makes me want to SHOUT!!!!!

TOGA TOGA!!!

I'll take one of each flavor!

FYI, back in the dorms in college, we used to get a jello desert, and a glass of 7-up. Put the Jello blob IN the 7-up and put it in the center of the table. It made a WONDERFUL lava lamp. The bubbles would make it go UP and DOWN. UP and DOWN..... :D (hey! it's low tech cheap fun!)

TOGA!!! Here's to the 20th anniversary of Animal House! I wacthed it last weekend to celebrate. :D

May I start with a lemon/lime margarita? With a big-ass umbrella on top? :)

I don't eat jelly because of the gelatine, so I'll be sampling the other delights of your bar :) ;)

I know this is weird, but I really feel like listening to the 2001: Space Odyssey theme. Bit left of centre for a toga party, but you get that!

Is that thunder? NO!!! It's a stampede of people exiting Kansas after getting a peek of me in my flowered toga. I don't have any plan sheets. :D

Starting early I see! Where have I been. I searched the web for appropriate TOGA WEAR and this is what I came up with:

1) Only white sheets are acceptable as togas. No flower prints please.
2) Wine should be the drink of choice at such a party.

Music: Nearly any type of music is acceptable, however if you really want to be authentic then you could go with some classical or traditional Greek music.

Underwear: Boxers are a must, unless of course you want to act like a true Roman, in which case you wouldn't wear any.

I disagree with the wine thing and kindly request a lime jello shot please!

I'll also have a hot dog - hold the mustard Richard. I've got work clothes on now :) :)

It didn't say the boxers had to be white. Are prints acceptable?

Of all the younger actors in the movie, who would have thought that Mr. "Thank-you sir, may I have another", would end up with the biggest career?

The racoons ate all of my grapes this year, but I can bring some grape vines in to add to the atmosphere.

be good everyone, or I'll put you on double-secret probation!

I have a question for you Catland. Does University of Oregon have frats? Doesn't seem like a frat school....

But yeah, who'da thunk Kevin Bacon would have gone the furthest... except well, Tim Matheson IS the Vice President.

U of O is a perennial favorite of Portland kids who want to be away from their parents so that they can party. (the school is about 90 minutes away from Portland). I did not go there but my husband did for his first year and joined a frat there. He even won the goldfish swallowing contest once (oh-oh, here comes PETA).

Secret to swallowing goldfish.
1. drink lots of beer.
2. swallow fish head first so you don't get their fins stuck in your throat.

You should see the I-5 freeway from Portland to Eugene on football game days. There are lots of alumni up here in Portland who make the trek.

Colored sheets are appropriate because-

spills blend in.
accidents don't show.
no need to get to bed to pass out-
you are already wrapped up in a sheet.
180 thread count!!!!
cotton blend!!!
---------------
and you can use a matching pillow case as a
bustier!
head band!
sash!
bandeau!
shawl!
handbag (where would you put your keys, money make-up, smarty pants!)

Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon:

We use to play that on the bus while traveling to our horse shows. lol I'm not any good as I don't keep up with the actors' names (unless they're a hottie!) but I love giving out the name(s) to link to. I had one friend who was able to link KB to Lassie and to Winnie the Pooh! lol

So here's my challenge...
Link KB to Flicka from My Friend Flika.

(FYI I tried to convince my mom/dad to name my sister Flicka instead of Alyssa!! Hey--I liked that horse! lol)

My diet is noodle soup and lime kool-aid lately due to severe financial problems so if I could have a lime jello thingy that would tie in beautifully. Have to ask if you could put it on my tab this week bartender, or I could stop by after work and do kitchen duty to work it off. Mood I've been in (rather Eeyore-ish) I was going to request something sour or a suffering bastard (either sounded appropo) but a lime jello thing just might work. Ended up watching Animal House in the middle of the night a few days ago. Don't want to say who reminded me of whom but if someone here starts singing some smarmy sing-a-long folk song I'll be the one who slams the guitar against the wall :o On a happier note, Dave Barry's column last Sunday reminded everyone that Sept. 18 was National Talk Like a Pirate Day [see www.talklikeapirate.com] so even though it's early may I suggest a pirate theme for next Thursday's party? We are going to a new computer system here so I'm in class all day yesterday & today but will try to stop by at lunch for my drink and a smile. Toga TOGAAAA

I'm late, I'm late, I'm late for a very important date! Ooops! Sorry, wrong movie.

Give me a drink of the day, good man!

I saw that Tim Matheson isn't VP anymore. He evidently didn't learn anything after Animal House; because he got caught having an affair and had to resign.

I don't look good in plain white, will a solid color toga (burgundy, navy) do?

:D

It's great we're all having a good time, but I also wanted to pause for a moment during our Toga party to reflect on the tragedy that ocurred 2 years ago today Sept. 11. May all those who died rest in peace, and may everyone who lost someone be comforted. We will never forget.

Let's all raise our glasses and toast our country! Ok, on with the Togas!!!

Bluto:What?! Over? Did you say over? NOTHING is over until WE
decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
HELL, NO!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.
Bluto: It ain't over now! For when the goin' gets
tough,..............the tough get going! Who's with me!? LET'S GO!

Well, for a TOGA party it has been rather quiet today I guess because of the significance of the day. My glass is raised and in addition to recognizing the loss of human life, I salute all the men overseas for their country.

catland

my glass is raised to you too. To all those who perished on 9/11 and to the friends and family who mourn them.

To those who wear the uniform and put their lives on the line so that we may have freedom.
