The rolled leather is better, it does dot rub against their skin, as it is smooth :)

Ok cool, so they are better than Nylon?

Kai wears a nylon anti-pull harness. I like it because for one, it's cheaper than leather. Two, it comes in so many colors and prints. Three, it's comfy. I like the buckle type collars with heavy duty steel buckles.

I believe so :)

Binka- Since Sadie is only 6 pounds, I do not really know what a "heavy" buckle would be. But Sadie's leather collar has a buckle?

There are so many different types of collars, it really is a personal preferance. the leather ones are nice, and good for show dogs to not ruin their coats.

Personall, we use the nylon slip collars, or Martingale collars. They tighen a certain amount on the dog, so that they can not back out of them and safer then a choke collar, that will continue to tighten. Premier, is the brand we use, and they also make the "Chinook", which is a break away collar, that will realse the dog if they pull becuase they are caugh on something.

Here's (http://www.sitstay.com/store/equip/collars3.shtml) a link to check out the collars...

I meant this type of collar..

I don't think a 6 pounder would need a steel buckle but I meant in general since most dogs are over 6 pounds. Kai's only 38 pounds but he's strong enough to pull me across the block...that's why I only trust the steel type since they're more heavy duty.

We also use the Premier. Great collar for training. Around the house we wear nylon, and for walking we use the Sporn no pull harness. I'm just this very minute ordering hush tags for their around the house collars cause all the clinking and jingling is driving me nuts. Makes it very hard to sleep at night with 3 dogs jingling in bed with you!

I don't like the snap collars (the one binka posted) because they are so easy to unsnap. Even my aunts little Yorkie has snapped out of them.

Simba wears a blue collar with a bluckle and Nala wears a black leather type with studs and a buckle.

Otis doesn't where a collar unless we are going somewhere, he hates them. Digger has a red buckle nylon collar, and chubby has a blue buckle collar, and Prince wears a black buckle collar. The buckle collars work great for us, and I agree with Kfamr, the snap ones are easy to unsnap.

I personally use the flat nylon collars with the snap on it, mainly because of the quick release snap. I prefer to have that extra bit of leeway incase the dogs collars get caught on something and need to get out of it quickly. Also because of the agility that I do (dogs run naked, no collars) I like something that can be put on and off without alot of hassle. The two bigger dogs both have the tag pockets on their collars, which is great for stopping the noise and also for Winter trying to chew on them.

The thing with the nylon collars is to make sure you get one that's not only the right size around the neck, but the right width as well. Tama couldn't wear the same width of collar as Smudge, and even Winter doesn't always have one that's the same width either.

Timber wears a thick nylon collar with a snap on it. It's purple lmao.

My favourite kind of collar are the leather ones with the spikes on them. :D I want some of those for my future dogs. :D Hehe.

Nebo wears a flat nylon collar with a snap. It's blue with a reflective stripe. :)

Nebo did have a snap collar break when he was a puppy, but well, the collar only cost a dollar....

I feel very strongly about using the collars with the safety release. All though, you go through alot more since they often break, they are much safer. I have had a few close calls with my old dog where I was thankful that I had those collars. He seemed to always be getting himself in jams. lol.

I don't like the snap collars either... I get paranoid that I'll snap her skin in it!

Ruby's collar is just a classic black nylon (I don't like leather.... but that's just me) collar with a metal buckle.

So does Huney:p I really need to get her a different one (probably the rolled leather type, you wouldn't be able to see the collar so much over her hair).
Roxey has the rolled leather & I love it for her. With the wide ones she looked totally dorky.

Hey micki-what are hush tags? I really need those!

I have a feeling that they're the same thing that Smudge and Winter have on theirs collars. They're little pouches that go on the collar and hold the tags so they don't jingle when the dogs move.
