I really need to stop going over to the Collie Rescue site.
I know 3's my limit and Murph and Maddie would absolutely
kill me, if I brought home another rambunctious Collie.
There's a girl over there, named Samantha, that I just
love though. Here's her pic, I think you'll be able to see
why.

http://www.houstoncollierescue.org/dogs/samantha.jpg

She sounds a lot like Oz in personality as far as activity level and
loving people. Doesn't sound like she's had a lot of training,
but I bet she'd be great at agility, if somebody worked with
her.

Aw much as I love her, I really can't take her, but she'd make
somebody a great dog and beautiful to boot. *hint hint*

Hi tats!

Actually that banner's from the rescue site. I lifted it to show
ya'll what she looked like. They do a real good job over
there of displaying the dogs and doing creative lil' write ups
about each dog.

I love the play bow pose too. Oz does that every time he
stretches.

Hi GSDgurl!

I didn't mention it before, but she's a Rough Collie. She
had to be shaved down due to mats. So she is going
to be a knock out once that coat grows back.

hiya Aly!

Totally understand the limit thing. I think she's going to be
in rescue for a lil' while, because she's Heartworm Positive.
I'll keep checking back over there to see what happens to
her. Sure wish I could take her, but just don't think it'd
be fair to M&M. They are going well beyond the call of duty,
being tolerate of Oz. Alllllllllthough if Oz had somebody his
size and energy to play with, he might leave them alone to
sleep.:)

Par, you are just the sweetest person to respond to everyone personally!:) I don't know....I think Oz has different ideas!;) Wouldn't they make the most beautiful pair!

I have to stay off those rescue sites myself! She is a cutie pie for sure though! ;) Hope she finds a nice loving forever family. :)

Aw thanks tats! On my first experience with messages boards,
the now defunct MCA Xena forum, it was considered bad
form not to answer everybody, who took the time to reply
to your thread. So I've kind of carried that over to other
boards I frequent. Have to admit I'm neglectful about it
if I get too far behind on the messages, but I do try, because
I remember how good it makes you feel to know somebody's
reading what you write.

Edited to add: Yes that was my first thought when I saw her.
Oh what a cute couple she and Oz would make.:)

She is cute! And I know about staying away from all those sites. It's really hard transporting them! The one today made it especially hard. I did an entry on him. Wish I could have him.

hey there dukedogsmom!

Went over to check out the thread real quick. He is a cutie.
Love that smile on his face. Is he a Lab/Doberman mix?

I've thought about transporting vs fostering, because I
thought maybe you wouldn't have as much time to get
attached. Looks like I was wrong.:)

Look what I just found a couple of miles from me! Now do you see why I have to stay away! :) This is Sherry:

and this cutie is Luke. I bet they were turned in together. This would double my doggie household and send the cats (not to mention the hubby) into a tizzy!

What a cutie! :D I'm sure Oz would love to have a big sister...*hint, hint* lol. ;) I would take her in a second if I could, but I have people called parents...but, Samantha would go great with my 2. :) Hmmm....*scemes up a way to convnce parents*...hehe. ;):D

Samantha looks like a very sweet girl. It was little Sherry, the girl that Pam posted, that made my heart melt though. Here's to praying all Samantha, Sherry, and Luke find homes with someone who loves them as much as I know you two would.

Par, it is very gentlemanly of you to reply personally to everyone. I know what you mean about carrying manners from one board to another. At the smgboard there are very strict rules about no flaming, and always staying on topic. I find it very easy to adjust to the relative freedom on this board.

But I will mention this, even though it is off topic - the title of this thread gave me a little happy. Just the words "Oz" and "Doppelgang[land]" together. ~Chuckles happily to self~. ;)

Hmm...Par where are you located? I love Collies, and you say she would be great at agility? I'm looking for an agility dog. I'm in Arizona, also. :)

hi again Pam!

Sherry and Luke are adorable! I had a poodle mix, when I
was a kid that was just the best dog. Before I got Oz, a
standard poodle was one of the dogs I was looking at.
Loved the personality, but the extensive grooming scared
me off.

hi zanzanfergie!

Good catch! My choice of words for the title was deliberate.
I've been a Buffy and Angel fan, since Xena went off the air.
I just bought Buffy's 4th Season DVD set, which has one of
my all time favorite episodes, "Hush".

Officially Oz is named after Wizard of Oz, but I had a
momentary thought of him also being named after such
a cool character from Buffy too. Love that dry wit of his.

PS. that should be ladylike.:)

hola Foam!

I'm actually from Texas, but if you were really interested they
might be able to work something out with a transport.

In their writeup of Sam, they really don't say anything about
agility, but I came away with an impression that she's got an
exhuberant, playful and active personality. Also, that she's food
and people motivated. All wonderful traits for agility. Here's
the URL for their site.

Collie Rescue (http://www.houstoncollierescue.org)

You might want to check out what they say about her and
if you're still interested get in contact with her foster mom.
Talking to her one on one, you could get a more detailed
evaluation about Sam.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Sam is HeartWorm Positive,
so she won't be leaving foster care until that's cured. Also,
I'm not sure what long term effects that has on health, whether
that could be a hindrance for agility. So that would be another
thing to ask about.

Oh gosh! I'm so sorry! Ladylike I'm sure. :) Forgive me, but it's so easy to be misled by usernames. I am constantly making mistakes with those kind of things.

It's great to see another Buffyite around the board. Hush is one of my favourite episodes too, along with "Once More With Feeling," "Becoming Parts 1 and II," "Intervention," "The Gift," and "Chosen." I'm working on my DVD collection too - only in Australia we're a little ahead in terms of release dates (for once!). Season 7 should be out by the end of the year, so I am saving up for that at the moment.

Oz is one of my most beloved characters too. Actually, I have a quote from him in my signature at the moment, did you notice? :D He makes me laugh, because he's so short, and also cool without knowing it. "Is it because you always tend to express yourself in short, non-committal answers?" "Could be."
He's such a funny little Zen man. :)
