Hey,

I don't know the first thing about registering dogs but try going to the AKC website... I'm sure they can give you plenty of info.

And, is there a form to sign up your dog for Agility on the American Kennel Club website? Thanks! :)

Sorry this is long, but you asked for it. :p :D

Were her parents AKC registered? If they were not, then you can not register her with the AKC.

But what you can do is get an ILP (Indefinate Listing Privelage) on her. This would allow her to compete in ANY AKC performance event (agility, obedience, hunting trials, tracking, etc.). The only thing she would not be able to show in is conformation, where they judge the dog's looks. Yes there are strings attached... she must be spayed. The cost is $25.00.

Here is the link to the AKC website on ILPs
http://www.akc.org/registration/ilpex.cfm

To apply for an ILP you have to take 2 pictures of her, one side shot and one straight on head shot.

Just as an example, these were the two pictures I sent in of Carl when I got his ILP.

When filling out the form (you can download it from the AKC website, or have them send it to you), if you do not know the names of her parents, breeder, etc. put "unknown". At least, that's what I wrote when I applied for Carl's ILP. If you don't know her birthday, just make an approximate guess, or put "unknown".

When putting in the "full name of dog" you can make up anything you want. You could simply write Sadie May, or you could make up some fancy name like Sadie May That's My Girl or Sadie May Just Right at Midnight (cause she's black, right?). It really doesn't matter. Maybe some other Pet Talkers will have some neat ideas for her name. :)

And, is there a form to sign up your dog for Agility on the American Kennel Club website?
Not really. Any dog that is registered with the AKC (or has an ILP) can show in agility trials. The way you sign up for an agility trial is

1. find an event near by - to do this go to the following web site
http://www.akc.org/dic/events/search/index.cfm

2. write (or email if an email address is given) to the person listed as the show superintendent and ask them to send you a "premium list". This has all the details of the show/trial you might compete in. If everything looks good then fill in the entry form (which is included in the premium list), and send it in along with the entry fee (usually about $20.00).

About a week before the show you should get a judging program back in the mail which will say what time your class starts and what # you are.

3. Show up at the trial and let all us Pet Talkers know before hand so we can wish you good luck :D

Hope this helps a little bit.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks everybody!! Can everyone help me think of a good registered name for Sadie? If you could, that would be wonderful! And how did the rest of you all register your dogs? Thanks!

Hi Lablover
Rottie gave you all the information, and I'm pretty sure you can do it on line.
Perry is registered as
Dom Perignon of Green Acres
and Daisy is registered as
Jackies's Miss Daisy
