In the past couple days I caught one of my dogs with his nose and mouth deep in the clumping cat litter. When he picked his head up his nose was full of it. Luckily I had just cleaned the box out, but I had to pick it out of his nose, and clean out his mouth too.

I know they sometimes eat cat box stuff, but....Heard of any warnings regarding the consumption of the litter by dogs??? Is this something a dog can get sick or die from eating?

I have not heard either way, but I hope its safe. Our Eli does pretty much exactly what you descibed.

Karen, if it was harmful, my Patience would probably be dead by now. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif She's gotten into it about a half a dozen times now.

Oh, I just remembered the last box of kitty litter I bought said something to the effect that this litter was tested by vets and safe to use around animals. I had to laugh, thinking, I would hope so, but maybe it meant safe for their consumption.
