A co-worker of mine found a dog wandering around their
barn & have been feeding him & caring for him for a few weeks.
He seems like a young dog, is very friendly, but a little shy. They
are working with him to gain his trust. They will put a collar on
him & hopefully get him to their vet to get checked out. They said
they've already picked off a few ticks from his coat, but he seems
like a healthy pup. They think he is Border Collie. I think maybe
a BC mix with maybe St. Bernard? or Boxer? Don't know...??

I saw Binx in him at first too, but in the second pic, I see Huney--and I definitely see where the border collie is coming from:confused:

Could Smokey be getting a brother????;)

How big is he? How old? Any idea? A vet should be able to tell. Certainly Border Collie mixed with something - I'd guess Saint if he's big, he certainly has more of a Saint/BC coat than a Boxer mis would, Boxer's coats are sooooo smooth and tight! I know you're seeing Boxer in the set of his jaw, but the undershot jaw could be lotsa things, or just a quirk of his own.

What a handsome, handsome boy!

I'm going to say St. B and BC as well.... I'd say boxer but the butt doesn't look boxer. Does he have a tail? Just curious!

My friend/co-worker said she thinks he may have been a
Christmas puppy & probably dumped in the area. She & hubby
live way out in the boonies. Here's what she's told me so far.
He's about 50lbs, 2 ft tall, long (not extremely long) hair, he'll
eat from her hand & loves to play like a puppy.Chase balls,
tug toys, etc.Mickey, as she calls him, was at first a little afraid
of her husband, but over time has come around to trust him.
Oh, and his teeth look good. She's dieing to bring him inside
but worries about doing it before the Vet checks him out & he
gets shots, etc. They have 2 older long haired dachshunds(8+yrs)
one of which has a bad back & she doesn't want Oscar to get
stepped on in play.I think they are half in love with this dog already & are willing to pay for his vet costs. She did say that
Mickey seems to have a hurt back paw & she's anxious to get
a collar on him so they can get him to their Vet.Keeping him as an
outside is not an option as she doesn't believe in doing that with
pets, so.... Anyway, we'll being taking a long lunch hour next Tues
and go to her house to see Mickey. Oh, Mickey has been sleeping
in their barn for overnights. I'd love to see him in person & check
out his personality.:D

Thats what I would say. The body of a border collie, but the mouth/face of a boxer.

If he's only 50 lbs, I would say boxer/bc then....he looks larger in the pic.

Whatever he is, he sure is HANDSOME!!!!! What a unique look. If he were a lot bigger, I'd say he had some Great Pyr in him.

Boxer/BC was my first thought.

I have to agree with Karen, I don't think theres any Boxer in him. I could be wrong though....but I have Boxers and don't see it, even though the face has a little bit of a Boxer shape.

His back half looks just like a Chow I had years ago. I do see border in him. He could be a mix of more then two breeds. border/st. B./ chow. Who knows.....but he's a cutie.

So what is he really?

I'd guess he's a classic Summa dog!

Summa dis and summa dat!;)

No matter the mix he deserves to have a concerned loving family - sounds like he wandered into the right barn for that! Hurray for love that just wanders in!

Thats it. A Summa Dog....:D :D Did you guys notice the brown
hairs on his back in the first picture? My friend said that's the only
place he has any color than black or white. He has a white tipped
tail.:) Can hadly wait to see him in person. I think you can tell
so much better in person.I hope his paw is o.k.

There's been a change of plans. Mickey(mystery dog) is going
to see the vet in the morning(Tues). They made big strides over
the last few days & Mickey is being a real love. He's now wearing
a brand new collar. She got him a red one as it" goes so well with
his coloring" LOL. Her husband is taking him in to get checked out
by their vet, so I won't visit him till Weds. Also learned today that
there is someone else who is interested in Mickey. My manager
at work is going along on the ride to check him out. :D :D
I really wouldn't mind if he wanted to adopt Mickey. I'd know
this dog would have a good home & I'd still get to see pics now
and then & hear about him everyday at work. Can't wait to meet
this little guy. :)

gee, just when I was thinking that YOU should take him home with you and check him out for a few days.

I am going to vote for the St. B/Border Collie mix.

Regardless, he just looks like a real love that deserves a very good home!

It's good to hear that he's settling down. Good luck with finding him the right home, and the vet visit!! ^.^
