Some of you probably remember my PETA thread right? Well i wrote a letter to PETA.
Dear PETA,
I am deeply sorry to report this but someone had to.
It seems you are loosing audience. From releasing tropical monkeys into
the streets of New York, to choosing to ask people to vote for "Sexiest
Vegean Alive" instead of reporting on the Colorado cat killings, to
approving the killing of pit bulls your attitude does not impress
people
anymore. You, PETA, could easily help change the way animals are
treated
today yet instead you choose to change Wisconsin's state drink.
You request $16.00 to stay a member. I have found most of the money you
get goes as profits for the people at PETA. You could easily help out
those animal sancutaries who would love to build on to their facilities
or help any other organization for animal rights. Instead you choose to
keep it for yourself.
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news PETA but someone had to tell
you.

Thanks to the hard work of so many people like yourself, PETA has made
tremendous strides in helping make the world a better place for
animalWe have also had major groundbreaking successes, such as bringing about
the first-ever cruelty conviction against an animal experimenter in the
case of the now-famous Silver Spring Monkeys; orchestrating the
first-ever raid on an agricultural facility (a factory farm in upstate
New York that kept ducks raised for foie gras in horribly cruel
conditions); closing the largest horse slaughter-house in the United
States; stopping the use of cats and dogs in all wound laboratories,
and
convincing more than 650 cosmetic companies to permanently abandon
animal tests.s.
Since PETA was first founded in 1980, it has grown into the largest
animal rights group in the world, with over 750,000 members around the
globe.
PETA persuaded Burger King and Wendy's to join McDonald's in demanding
better treatment for the factory-farmed animals that they use every
year. Of course, our ultimate goal is to stop factory farming
altogether, and USA Today said that our work has already helped to take
a "big bite out of the worst cruelties."
We also persuaded Congress to spend $4 million to be used for the
development of non-animal tests, and we convinced corporate retailers
like Nike, Reebok, Gap Inc., Florsheim, Gucci, and many others to stop
buying leather from India and China, where conditions for many animals
are particularly cruel.
Our Community Animal Project (CAP) staff is out in the field every day,
responding to calls of cruelty and neglect. In addition to providing
information on proper shelter and care to the "owners" (I can't quite
bring myself to call them "guardians") of animals who are kept under
the
most hideous conditions, our CAP caseworkers do their best to get every
dog and cat spayed or neutered. Our mobile spay-and-neuter SNIP clinic
has made a very big difference for cats and dogs in this region.
In June 2003, we spayed and neutered a whopping 533 animals whom no one
would otherwise have reached, including 56 feral cats! PETA's mobile
clinic is also providing prepubescent surgery, thereby helping to
eliminate "accidental" first litters. We performed 102 such "early
surgeries" in June. Since April 2001, our SNIP-mobile has performed
over
10,000 spay and neuter surgeries on animals in our area, most from
low-income neighborhoods and many free of charge.
But PETA isn't just effective, we're efficient. PETA works very hard to
keep administrative and fund-raising costs low. We want to see that
every dollar spent goes as far as possible toward achieving our goals
for animals. You'll notice in the 2002 annual review (please see
http://www.peta.org/feat/ar2003/17.html) that almost 84 percent of our
budget goes directly to our life-saving programs. That is one of the
reasons we've earned an A- rating with the American Institute of
Philanthropy.
All of these lifesaving victories (and many more!) were made possible
with the generous support of compassionate people like you. We hope
that
you will reconsider supporting PETA's efforts to end animal suffering.
