I have nothing against tattoos, but since you're so young, make sure its what you REALLY want. You'll be stuck with it when you're a granny! :) Unless you get it removed I guess.

I guess I'd go for the wolves.

Tattoos are too permanent for me. Not to mention too painful.

tattoos per say aren't addicting... it's the adrenaline (ie what makes the process 'bearable' ;) ) that's addicting.

I want another (small!!) one but not sure what or where. I'm thinking a black mini-lop on or around my ankle but not sure. I can't find a pose that I like though.

I drew my last one, maybe I'll draw this one too!

Aly you should become a pro, people would come in droves to get a tattoo by Aly :D

I want a tattoo but well I've been threatened with death if i get one while still in the house. My mom even freaks at fake ones.

I agree with aly, whatever you get make sure it's something you want to live with the rest of your life.
The first tatoo I got, is definitely not my favorite (although I plan on getting it covered one of these days). Also I suggest you make sure the artist you go to is good. A few of mine were not the best quality and now I have to live with them:rolleyes:
But I'm not sorry I got any (btw...I have 9, including a large one that goes from my shoulder to right above me knee!)

A co-worker of mine recently underwent a double mastectomy due to breast cancer in both breasts. :( She was having a horrible time looking in the mirror after surgery even though she did get implants. She has recently had both breasts tatooed and loves the results. I personally wouldn't want anything that permanent done to me, but I know lots of people have them and enjoy them and it has made a new woman out of my friend! She says she feels prettier and that's what matters!

For the longest time I have been thinking about getting a rat tattoo somewhere on my body; not too sure where. Ever since I got this idea, Mom thought about getting one too. She told me she wants a clam tattoo. Now, we are trying to convince my dad to get a dragon tattoo, but we don't think he will be too keen on that idea.

:D :p ;) :o

I've been thinking about getting a wolf tattoo myself, but I haven't found a design/picture of one that I really like. Want to design one for me Aly?? ;) I'm actually getting my third tattoo tomorrow evening (some green stars... long story ) :D I can't wait :)

I suppose there are people out there who like them but I would NEVER get a tattoo.

They are just to permanent and when I see old people with them they look so...bad!

my granpa had one and it started to fade. Before you could clearly see what it was but then you had to ask what it was or squint. It looked horrible as well.

But good luck.

Tatoos are nice but I hate it when they're really big. I know a girl who has a simple pink butterfly on her lower back, and its cute. But when i see people with the huge ones that cover like a whole arm, I don't like that.

I can't imagine myself with a tatoo, just because I know I'm probably going to regret it (that's how I am) but if I had to get one it would be of a panther or a puma. I'm also scared of the pain. lol My mom's friend got on done on her back and she said it hurt like hell. But I guess it varies. I had no idea so many PTers had tatoos. hehe cool

Anyways good luck. :)

Don't be scared. Mine didn't hurt a bit. The only thing I didn't like was afterwards, you know caring for it. It was a hassle.

Some tattoos actually look quite sexy I think.
Only problem is most of us when we are young think they are great and want them, I did also.
But as we grow older, and we are stuck with them, except for going through painful removal, we often wonder what made us do this in the first place.
So just be sure its what you really want, it is for now, but may not be in the future.
At least don't get your boyfriend or girfriend's name put on there, thats always regretted.
I like the ones on the ankle and shoulder, small ones, they look good.

Lol, we think alike! I've always wanted one but I would never get one until I'm 25 or so. I don't want one now and regret it. I'm also not much of a pain person lol. If I do get one though, it'll be of kai or a wolf lol.

OMG, Tikeya! I can't believe that your mom lets you get tattoo's! I'm 25 and my mom still gets mad. lol. That is really cool that she trusts your decision making that much.

I have a few myself. I'll get my husband to take pics of them when he gets home. My first one was when I was 13, it's a heart on my bikini line. It is really ugly, but it has alot of sentimental value because my 3 best friends and I all got them together. You can't see it even w/a bathing suit on. My second one was spur of the moment when I was 18. It is a small butterfly on my foot. It is absolutely beautiful and I have never regretted it for a second. Even older more conservative people compliment me on that one.

My third tattoo is huge (for me at least). I worked on it from 21 years old until 24 years old. It is between my shoulder blades and up to the base of my neck. It says "Trust God" in Kanji. It has a lotus blossom and some flames coming out of the blossom that wrap around the letters. The flames weren't done how I wanted them, but it is a beautifully done tattoo. I'd thought and designed this tattoo since I was 14. Yet, I regret it. Most of the time, my clothing and hair can cover it and/or I am around a crowd that I don't really care sees it. But occasionally, I want to feel elegant and feminine yet I have this gigantic tattoo on my back.

I am not against tattoos at all, but really be sure it is something that you won't be embarrassed of later on. I like the idea of Celtic Crosses! The wolves would be pretty too. My maiden name is Fox, so I always wanted a beautiful red fox wrapped around my arm. The only thing that stops me from getting it is picturing my flabby triceps flapping in the wind at 83 years old with a fox on them. lol.

You're so lucky, I'm only allowed to get one if I pay for it myself. :( Yeah right

when I was fourteen my dad said that he would lie and say I was 16 but I didn't have any money

I want to get a pentagram on my lower back, a wolf on my shoulder, and a rat on my ankle! :D

I know people like tatoos, but I would NEVER EVER get one. I hate them. :p The big ones that some people have, like the ones that cover their whole arms freak me out. Tiny little ones are ok but I don't really like them either. I would never want to have something like that for life. If you like it, go for it, but be 100% positive you want it for life, even when you are an old lady with great grand kiddies. :p :p Hope you make the best decision and one you will never regret. :)

TM what did you mean by you drew on your mom and aunts?

I would NEVER get a tattoo if it wasn't done prefissionally.

Pamala Anderson got hepititis from sharing a tatoo needle. Just a little something I picked up from reading newspapers online.

I want a fairy at the bottom of my back above my butt (you know where I mean?) with a want spelling a word (I don't know what yet) out with like 'fairy dust', lol, you know what I mean?
Then when I am older and I have children I am getting their zodiac signs tattood on me with their names and the like the actual sign of the zodiac (like Leo is a lion, etc)
My friend (15) has tattoos...I don't know them ALL but he has a cross on his lower back and it's awesome and it's gothic looking and it's so beautiful. Then he has a number '8' tattood that is for Dale Earnhardt Jr. Hmm...he also has a skull and crossbones that has like a stormy sea. Then, let's see....ugh, I can't remember them all, but he has his kid's name tattood on his arm. He's a lil cookoo! :p

I have question --- How much did all your tatoos cost???

I hate the prices these days! A small tatoo can be up to $100! A friend of mine got hers for only 15 dollars and it is huge, but that was because she got it over a decade ago...

My largest tattoo cost $150, but my smaller one was only $85. The one I'm getting tomorrow will probably be around $80. Mike, the artist who has done all my ink and most of my friends', charges $100 an hour, which is pretty reasonable.

Another reason i don't want one is because what if I hate it? When you get them removed it hurts like heck! It's like a rubber band snapping your skin and even after your done with the treatments your skin will still have some of the ink so that looks even worse.

They all varied in price.
Of course I got mine all about 10 years ago, so I'm sure they're much more expensive now.
I've paid anywhere from $25 for the small one on my hand, up to $800 for the large one on my back & leg.

I'm not one who believes in pain for beauty's sake - I am the way I am, and if counting my freckles doesn't amuse you enough, well, then, that's not My problem! I don't have any piercings or tattooes, scars are enough as far as I'm concerned. Besides, what if I change my mind? A tattoo is permanent! So if I wanted a butterly one say, a bunny the nexy, it wouldn't be possible. I'll stick with the skin I've got, thanks!

If you're going to get a tattoo, make sure you have it done by a professional, whose shop looks clean, smells clean, and has been in business for a while. Infection is a serious thing, so also with any piercings or tattoos, make sure to ask how to care for it while it heals, and then follow the instructions to the letter.

Tonya
07-06-2003, 12:33 PM
Also, make sure you've seen the artist's work on someone else. Just because they can draw well doesn't mean they can tattoo well. You don't want it to fade or smear within a year.

I have a tattoo on my lower left side. Its of a real Morpho butterfly that I found in a butterfly book.
http://www.elbosquenuevo.org/pictures/morpho-cypris-3b.jpg
(this is just an online picture, but this shows the type of butterfly)

I had been planning my tatto since I was 16 and got it when I was 20. I've always been mesmerized by butterflies and wanted a real butterfly, not a cutesy cartoony one. I brought a butterfly book to my artist and she traced it, even the crooked antena. :) I wanted it smaller, but found out that if she shrunk the design, it would look cartoony because it was so detailed.

My artist uses only new needles for each person...throwing out all used ones. I had to wait an extra two hours because she forget her needles at home! I was nervous already!!

It hurt, but it wasn't the worst pain I've felt. They do a few lines, then wipe...so its not a constant pain. I think the worst part were the color fill ins.

I think the most annoying part of my tattoo experience was that I had to go back for my color...when I did, I found out that she quit (and later died in a sky diving accident!! ) So someone else did my color...it turned out great, but I would have prefered my artist have done the whole thing.

I love my tattoo -almost 5 years later- its as pretty as it was when I first had it done and I still am so glad I had it done.

I do want another one. I really want a cat's profile...all black and prissy. I've found what I want, I just need to figure out where to put it. I don't like people to see my tattoo unless I want them to, people too often judge you incorrectly. I think most people that know me are shocked that I have one. :)

Cataholic
07-06-2003, 04:04 PM
Noahsmommy, I want the cat profile, too! I want a black cat, in a halloween pose, with his face in sight. And, about the time of the second coming, I will have it done...he he he..

I have two cents on the Pamela Anderson, hepatitis thing. I know it's off subject. lol. Hepatitis is also sexually transmitted. She was married to Tommy Lee, so odds are they had sex. So how would she know rather the hepatitis came from a needle or sex? I think she just prefers to think it came from a needle because it sounds better then 'STD'.

True...that's true but I believe you can get hepetitis from other then sex.

Anyway there are still probelms that come along with having a tattoo. It's a risk.

If you do some serious research, you can find that tattooing is not a HUGE risk. A tattoo parlor should not differ much from a hospital. If you make sure everything is steril, and in some cases new, then you're fine. And, of course, if you care well for you tattoo afterwards there's not a huge risk. IMO, the biggest risk you're taking is that you won't like your tattoo later in you life. Some people get allergic reactions to the ink, but that is very rare and it usually happens to people who already have skin conditions and probably shouldn't have gotten a tattoo in the first place.

I got one about eight years ago to cover a surgery scar. Heaps better than seeing the scar - surprised my doctor the day he went to check on the scar and saw a group of coloured hearts instead ;)

I'm still happy with it, and it's positioned where no one can see it unless I choose to show it.
