One of my best friends is trying to get me to take her beautiful long haired white cat, Kylie. Kylie doesn't like my friend's boyfriend, and runs whenever he comes in the apt. So she wants me to be temporary foster mom!!!! I told her she has to help me find a place to put the dishes and the litter box, and we have a deal!!! I think Shai will do ok with her, cats don't seem to bother her. I am concerned how Kylie will take to Shai, she has never been around dogs. Kylie is so unhappy at home, I just hope I can do her justice. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/frown.gif

How exciting! Kylie is a pretty name. Who wants to bet Staci and Shai get attached, and the fostering becomes permanent!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

Staci...I'm so excited for you!! A house is not a home without a dog AND a cat! At least one! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif How old is the cat? The younger the better for a smooth adjustment. She may hide quite a bit at first but with a gradual introduction I am sure it can work! By the way, if you do become Kylie's permanent mommy, you will then find yourself posting on the cat boards too and never get anything done, just like me!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

Staci! That is exciting. I'm with Pam. Everyone needs to have at least one of each, or like me, two of each!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif Can't wait to see a picture!!!

And can't help but wonder....if the cat might know something your friend needs to know! Hope not, but haven't you heard how our pets are sometimes better judges than we are??

Logan, I gotta agree - these animals have a sense about people. For me its all or nothing and don't try to change the way i interact with my animals. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Kylie is not quite 2 years old, semi long haired and all white. She is beautiful.
I honestly like her boyfriend but I can't help but think the same thing. I have told her that, no-one will come b/n me and my dog.PERIOD. That maybe Kylie is trying to tell her something. If a guy comes into my life he has to respect me and my pets regardless.
I just hope Kylie adjusts well with Shai.
Thanks for your support!!!
Logan I can't help but think of the discussion on "Just Dogs" about Barbi who came home and her teacup poodle was laying crying on the floor where her live-in had thrown her, she took her to the vet and foound that she had old healing fractures. She felt so guilty about not knowing what was going on, she gave the dog to another home!!!

Staci, I think the boyfriend needed to find a new home....or be homeless! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/mad.gif I must have missed that post on Just Dogs, as I only go there sporadically, but I guess I'm glad I did. I might have been evicted with my response!

Good luck with Kylie! Yes, she might be trying to tell us something... Daisy told me something about a very bad ex-boyfriend who turned out to be... well... bad, to put it lightly. But even if Daisy didn't like someone I loved very much, I wouldn't let him come between us! You can always get a new boyrfiend, but you can't always get another best friend! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/wink.gif

Well, I have tried to convince my friend that she should find someone who will respect her animals too, but Kylie is so unhappy when he is there, I am getting her on Sat!!!
I jokingly told her if she bought the litter box I would take her, well tonight we went to KMART and got kitty litter, cat food, toys, treats, they had everything EXCEPT the litterbox!!! I want one with a cover and we went to 3 stores and they didn't have any, so she is going to WallyWorld tomorrow to get it. I have to work until 11pm tomorrow night so I think Kylie will come "home" on Sat.!!!
I haven't really 'splained it to Shai yet tho, I just told her she was getting a new sister!!

Staci...I hadn't read the post about the poodle either and just now reading you note has me so upset!! That girl gave the dog to another home! Wow! The boyfriend should have gone to another home!!!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/mad.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/mad.gif I hope when she has her own children she doesn't find them in the same condition. God Forbid! He sounds sick!

But enough of that...gotta calm down here a little...I am so excited for you and Kylie's upcoming arrival. I will stayed tuned for all of the exciting posts! Don't forget pictures!!

Staci, just wanted to congratulate you on your new addition. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the adjustment period with Shai and Kylie goes well. Please keep us posted. I'm kind of wondering what the temporary foster home is going to accomplish? Is it temporary to see how it goes? Or is it temporary until the boyfriend is no longer a boyfriend?

I think it will be temporary until the boyfriend is out of the picture. But if Kylie is happy she may just leave her here.
Pam, that story happened about 6-8 years ago, I believe and she did get rid of the boyfriend that night, she kicked him out and had some of her friends beat the you know what outa him!! (Poetic Justice)
The reason she found the dog a new home, was she didn't feel she was responsible enough to have a pet since she didn't know what was going on. So she found a new home for the poodle, where she gets to eat steak and is treated like a little princess!! I felt bad for her, it wasn't her fault. I think finally after like 6 years she rescued a dog, she felt that now she was ready!!!
