Hermoine

Since Monday night, Hermoine has been making somewhat wierd squeeky/hollow noises while she's breathing. Its almost labored. Last night, she tried to meow and what came out was pitiful. :(

I took her to the vet as soon as I got home from school today because she hadn't eaten and seemed to be in the same position she was in four hours prior.

She had to have chest and head xrays, was put under brief anesthesia and had her breathing passage ways and larynx examined.

Turns out, she has some sort of a bug that has caused her left lung to show cloudy in the xray and the tissue surrounding her larynx to swell and redden. She was given an injection of something to reduce the swelling (cortosone, I think) and was sent home with some antibiotic drops.

The vet said that had I not taken her in, her breathing tubes could have closed up. :( :( :(

She's resting under the bed now. Poor little girl.

Our Dudley just got over a respitory infection, he was real hoarse and comfortable. Luckily it went away quickly, I hope the same for your little Hermoine!

Oh No!! Good for you for taking her into the Vet's right away. It is amazing what they get into!! I'm glad you got her "fixed" and now everything is ok!!

Poor little Hermoine. :( A good thing you took her to the vet so soon! Since she's so young and otherwise a healthy kitty I think she'll be back to normal in no time. :)

Oh my goodness, Kelly! Poor little Hermione! I'm so glad that you noticed it and were able to get her to the vet so quickly! Poor thing. I can only imagine the stress of that along with poor little Micah! Bless your heart. Did you schedule for Micah to get his blood panel done?

I can't seem to find our recharger for the digital camera, so I'll have to post some new pics later. :)

Hermoine is doing OK. I'm going to call the vet again today to see if its OK for her to still have that squeaky noise...she doesn't have the wierd breathing thing as much, so that's a good thing. The vet said that the cortozone shot she had on Wednesday wears off after 36 hours, so I need to see if she needs another one.

She's still playing and being her silly self. She's eating well and drinking a lot (the vet said that happens with cortozone). :)

Micah...well, he LOVES his new food, so do the other cats. :rolleyes: Its been a short amount of time, but he seems more comfortable. :)

I'm glad that little Hermoine is feeling more perky now... cortisone is great .... but like you said, she made need another dose til this thing is all cleared up! Give her extra hugs from me, PLEASE!

I'm sorry to hear Hermione is sick. My little Pixley has a bad tendency toward respritory infections (even though he's been vacinated against them) so I know that horrible sound you mentioned well. You were wise to take her right in to the doctor. I hope she's up and pouncing soon.

Seems that Hermoine has caught Olivia's (and Noah, Noel and Basie's) cold! :( She's sneezy and her eyes keep watering (clear) and she's a bit stuffed up.

We're wasting a ton of water by making the bathroom a steam room for all the furkids. Oh well...worth it! ;)
