Dad,

Today is Father's Day. It'll be the 7th year without you. I can't call and wish you a happy one.

I miss our coffee in the morning and lunches in the afternoon (at the cemetery). I feel helpless that I can't just hop in my car and spend the afternoon at Rose Hill.

This Father's Day is very different. I wish I could explain, but I'm at a loss for words.

It's beautiful out here in Michgan. Sunny and 80 degrees. As I said 7 years ago. Dad, you deserve for the sun to shine. Here it is, just for you.

Missing you always,

Donna

That was a very sweet tribute to your father. I am sorry you are missing him so on this father's day.

Thanks Johanna. Before I had a place to go and bring my usual cigar and golf ball. Now I'd have to travel 663 miles :(.

My best friend from High School said he had tomorrow off and would find out what section Dad was in, and pay him a visit, golf ball and cigar. What a guy!!

Moosmom: I lost my Dad 8 years ago (Feb 2, 1995). He passed away in the hospital and I missed him by 15 min. Just keep talking to him. He does hear you and watch over you.

My dad passed on March 25, 2000. I raced from work three hours away to be with him. I talked to him just a week before. I miss him, especially on Father's day, but try to visit his grave a few times a year.

I know he's with me. Every once in a while, I'll smell cigar smoke. And no one in my building smokes!!! So I know it's him watching over me.

Slick,

My Dad was found dead in his apartment on a warm August day. I had dinner with him 3 nights before, but never got to say good-bye to him, or to tell him it was okay to go. I'm sorry you missed your Dad by such a short time. But I'm sure he knew you were there.

Smokey,

That's the one thing I really miss is being able to go to the cemetery. I'll pay him a visit when I go to CT.

Yes, hugs to you, dear Johanna. That was a most touching and beautiful tribute to your Dad; something we can all realte to...those, cherished, precious moments we cling to when someone we love is lost to us. I've lost my Mom, but feel so grateful that I still have my "daddy" to sit and have coffee with. Thank you for sharing your most poignant memories with us. Love, Sandra

I'm so sorry about you losing your father. Even if it was seven years ago, the pain and memories never go away.
