What darling babies!
Excuse my ignorance, but what are dumbo rats? Is it something to do with their ears? ;)
Sorry, I don't know anything about rats! Very cute babies, though, I am able to spot. I love the beige twins, they're gorgeous.

The above two are who I am keeping from the litter.

Here is the other odd eye boy, but I need to get a better pic of him. As you can tell, he is the runt of the litter.

Yes they all have homes lined up. Before I breed a litter I make sure they are pretty much sold before the pair is put together. I have waiting lists that are pretty long, however this litter was from a rescue mom who couldn't find a home because she was an odd eye and people thought she was blind. Little did I know that she was pregnant and 4 days later out popped 7 babies lol. :p

The mom needs a little work but is going to a lady who lost all her rats when her rattery burnt down. Her pedigrees went back to the 80's and she lost ALL her rats so it was very tramatic on her. I am giving her the mom and some of the babies to help start her own lines again. :) The mom won't be bred however as she has some personality issues, so we will see how the babies progress with age. Since they have been held since birth I don't have too many worries.

I did want to post this last pic though because the one does ears are just HUGE!!

 :D  and I thought it was cute.

That is good to know. How can you be sure how many kittens are in a litter though? Tell me you have a cute rattie-sized ultrasound equipment!!!! ;)

Yep dumbo rats have bigger ears, set lower on the head and instead of pointy they are round and oh so cute! :D

LOL I wish! That would be so cool!

Well I try to have at least 9 reserves beforehand, it used to be 5 but I upped it to 9. But they stay here as long as they need be, even if that means forever. :p If you know the genetics you can pair certain rats together to get certain colors or markings etc. A litter of all agouti or black is hard to place unless they carry mink or something of that sort, so I try to avoid that. I do have a very nice agouti boy who I wish to breed who is from my lines and a very good natured boy with perfect comformation and markings. Did I answer the ? lol. I think I just started rambling hehe. :p

lol, so it is kinda like the elephant then. I'm not a complete, as they say in latin, 'dorkus malorkus', then! :p

Yep it's from the elephant ears! :p I believe the Europeans are trying to change the name though, because dumbo is considered a bad word there ..or something like that lol. :D

You know what's funny. My neighbor found a dog yesterday who looked JUST LIKE your pup! He had tags so we called the shelter and found the owner. :)

Really? That's neat--usually there's not a lot of beagles that are reddish brown like Daisy. Maybe it was a relative of hers, LOL

He was an older doggie, and oh so friendly. His name was Fred. You could tell they took very good care of him because his teeth were about the cleanest teeth I have ever seen, his nails were trimmed and it smelled as if he just had a bath.

His owners seemed a little odd though. When we told them where we found him, their reply was this "Well he must have just gotten lost when we were walking him".  LOL

LOL WolfSoul! Everyone likes that little boy. I actually think I am going to keep that one. :D

I started intros today. Sheesh my hairless oy always gets so excited. I am always afraid he is going to hurt the other ones. There was no biting or anything, but it still gets to me to hear those little squeeks. Bandit on the other hand thought it was so cool that he had two new friends lol. I swear, that rat is so lazy. You could throw a cat in the cage with him, literally, and he wouldn't care to move an inch! :p

Heehee ;)

I'm always worried that intros will be a scary thing when i'm older and have more rats lol  :o All those worries are thanks to Frisco  He once attacked a four week old doe! (back when I was stupid enough to put him with one  ) *sigh*

Oh dear! Due to my mothers rat phobia, I've always been a bit scared of rats too but I've heard what marvellous, affectionate pets they can be and I must say, some of yours look really cute!Scarlet in particular is gorgeous!! Put it this way, I'm open to being a convert to the joys of pet rats - Though unfortunately, I will never be able to own any because I think my cats would probably think it was their birthdays!! :(
