I know I mentioned before the satisfaction I get from adopting dogs from shelters. Here are some before and after pics of Penny Lane after 3 weeks. I just wanted to share my joy at her improvement. We go back to the vet tomorrow so wish us luck!!!

Here is Penny Lane the first night home - Hiding under the table, ears tucked back, very nervous

Here she is today:Playing with her new toy. She is a bit of a toy hog - she takes them away from Leo and hids them:D

and here she is romping with Leo in the yard

This is my favorite - it seems to be saying THANKS MOM!!

And yes - that is a waterproof pad under her pillow. Helps save the floor, although my laundry duties have doubled in the last few weeks:eek::) :)

Thanks everyone for the good vibes. It always amazes me that no matter how much a dog goes through - abuse, neglect, fending for themselves, etc - how much capacity they still have to love and trust humans. If people go through the same things, they usually end up being psycopaths:confused:

Penny Lane is about 6 years old and she is a small 35lb Shepard Mix. I have no idea what she is mixed with - seems more Heinz 57:D

clara4457, you are to be commended!

Since shelters/rescues are so strapped for funds why doesn't the blasted government start giving a one time tax credit when you adopt? Perhaps more folks would go for these animals if their was a financial incentive and then possibly the shelters/rescues wouldn't need to practically beg for relief...then maybe euthanization would be a thing of the past?

:D :D :D

That's a good idea! I have never thought of such a thing.

I posted an update about Penny's medical problems on Dog Health. She had some complications, but she is now on the mend.
