Hello Dog-Lovers-

My girl Talua (Golden Retriever 2y.) and I are getting a new member in our household- a Golden Retriever boy. The puppies will be born by the end of this week...we are getting really excited- well me,-Talua has no idea that she gets a brother !!
I donīt have a good cute name for him/her (if only girls will be born,I take a girl).
On my homepage we have some names - but I still canīt make up my mind (www.schecker.de/home/Talua+Co.)
I donīt want a german name or a stupid name like Blacky for a black dog or Goldy for a Golden - ahah...
Thanks for your help !!!
Greetings Malaika & Talua :-)

My pets (most of them anyway) have human names. You didn't say if you were getting it from a breeder, a shelter, or a friend whose dog is having the puppies. I suggest give the puppy a name of one of the people from who you are getting the dog. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Here's a great Golden Retriever site that yo might be interested in. There are many members and you can probably get some good ideas from there. Just browse the message board and the photo album. Hope it helps! And you might want to join it too. It takes about 2-3 days to become a member, I think. But you can access it, whether you are a member or not. Like this site, you have to join to participate in the discussions.

Good luck with your new puppy. I LOVE those Golden Retrievers.

Out of the names on your site, I like Autumn and Riley the best for boys. I also like Biscotti, Hunter, Chance, or Graham for a golden retreiver name.

Oh and I like the name Sunny too. When I get my next yellow lab, I will name her Sunny Day http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Does anyone remember the forum we had on dog names? She should check it out.
I wanted to name Shaianne, Peta b/c it means "golden eagle" in Indian(since she is fawn/golden color) but my sister said it would be like naming her after the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals!!!!

Hi Malaika,

My 3 girls have human names too. Lexi, my first little one, is a shepherd mix. Sasha, we got from a friend and she was already named and she is a lab/wippet mix. Then there is Maddie, our new addition. She is also a shepherd mix. My cousins have golden retrievers and named their dogs Chief (who is no longer with us) Hunter and Aztec. I like to try and make up names sometimes. But, Hannah is a great name - it seems to fit a golden. I picture a cute blonde-haired, little girl when I hear the name Hannah.

You could also consider Myra, Layla, Casey or Nani (which I think is Hawaiian for beautiful). My favorite is Nani out of all of those. Good luck!!

I also like human names. I treat my dogs like they are human so why not have a human name http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

For boys I like :
Thomas
Riley
Gordy
Micheal
Nathan
Hunter (my fave)

For girls I like :
Grace
Autumn
Abby
Tess
Jessee
Zoey (my fave)

But as soon as you meet the dog Im sure a name will just fit.
Give it a few days and sometimes a dog will do things that just kind of names them. Example my parents have a chihuahua (spelling ?? http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif ) and they hadn't picked a name but after having it a few days they kept saying oh she is so cute she hops around like a little Cricket so they named her Cricket.

Hey *Basim*

I like the names you have picked out, I named my cat Simba from the lion king aswell. He has huge feet with seven toes so he looks like a lion and acts like the king of the jungle.

I also really like your taste in music, I LOVE Nelly and Snoop dogg http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/eek.gif very good signers and very nice on the eyes ... if ya know what I mean http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

Pick a name that matches the personality of the dog, or means something to you. Our lab is called Samson..he's really strong, when we first set eyes on him at the pound he won our hearts! He pulled on the leash so hard, he was so excited to go home! He's not always so smart, and took a while to grow into those big paws thus a little clumsy, we almost called him Pluto! Our Pyr mix is Montana...after the Great Pyreneese Mountains, montana being mountain in Spanish and my husband is from MT!
