Even in the process of going out of business, Pets.com is helping save some Alaskan sled-dogs. Who says corporate America is all bad?

Well, I must say, that is amazing. They are to be congratulated for their efforts despite their difficulties.

What a heartwarming story, especially after the horrible one I posted earlier. I'm so glad there is still some "heart" out there. Wonder if there is a way to contact them and say "thanks" for the good work. I'm going to read the story again and try to do just that. Thanks for sharing it, Karen.

That is wonderful. I know those dogs are tools, not pets, however, I bet it's hard for the mushers to kill them rather then watch them starve to death. It's gotta be heartbreaking to kill them.

Bless the folks at Pets.com. That was a wonderful act of kindness in their part. They will be rewarded by saving the lives of many wonderful dogs, and helping the lives (and preventing much heartache) to those mushers who need those dogs to make a living.

Logan,
What a good idea about finding a way to say thanks to Pets.com. If you find out, let us know, I'm sure many of us would like to thank them also!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Definitely! What a gracious and kind gesture. I have to admit, I didn't know they were going out of business. What happened? I noticed lately there wern't any "Sock Puppet" commercials on anymore! Boo-Hoo. So glad they had the strength of their convictions, professed love of animals that is, even as their business failed!

I was so in hopes that the website would still be up. When you pull up www.pets.com (http://www.pets.com) now, it takes you to www.petsmart.com. (http://www.petsmart.com.) I wonder if there is a way to find some kind of mailing address for the former pets.com people. As soon as I have a little more time, I'll do some more investigation.
