Poor Lucky! After all he has been through, and now he's sick again! Only this time I might be the culprit!!

All 3 of my guys eat Science Diet, Light. Well I received a $5.00 off cupon for Science Diet's new line, Nature's Best. So I thought I'd give it a try. I came home & mixed it in with the Light, and began feeding it to them. Much to my surprise they all loved it! :D I was happy, because they can be choosy on what they eat. Well, this was Thursday, and by Saturday night Lucky was puking food. He just doesn't puke normally, either. He does that "power" puke which sends it clear across the room. I first thought, ok he has an upset stomach, no big deal. Well, he puked again, in the middle of the night, then again several times during the weekend. He was still eating though. Then one time when I was giving him his medication, I noticed he had some red bumps over his eye. Ok, food reaction, right?! So I stopped with the Nature's Best and everyone went back to the Light. Well, he puked again this morning, but there wasn't any food in it (sorry about the graphic detail!) I also noticed some more red bumps around his ears.

We are currently getting ready to go to the Vet, this always takes some doing since he doesn't care much for the carrier, car or car ride! Hopefully I didn't harm him too much!!

Update to come..............

Well............my regular vet thinks he is having a reaction to his medication for the Chylothorax! The vet that he sees for the Chylothorax is on vacation until June 9. Dr. B (his regular vet) gave him some new meds to calm down his stomach, and it should not interfer with the current medication.

I have to call the 2nd vets office tomorrow and hopefully talk to the vet that is filling in for Dr. G (his specialist).

Gosh what a mess! But I guess it is good that it is happening now while we are home, then in 3 weeks when we leave for vacation!

Lets hope this all gets straightened out before vacation, or I'm going to be a basket case during it!! :p

BTW we hired our vet tech who also does pet sitting on the side for our vacation......so he will be in good hands, even though his mommy will be a wreck!!

Oh man! If it isn't one thing, it's another! Hopefully they'll have another medication that will work on his problem and not cause another one!

I'm glad you went with the vet tech for petsitting! She'll know what to watch for. Hopefully this will be under control before you have to leave.

Update us when you have news!

I was going to suggest an allergic reaction to something ... possibly the new food! Did you know you can give kitties children's liquid Benadryl? It also helps with nausea .... as in car sickness on the way to the vet!!! ;) Reglan syrup is a RX from the vet that is good for nausea as well. GOOD LUCK and please keep us posted!!!

Oh... as an added note.... the Benadryl can cause them to drool or "foam at the mouth" so don't be alarmed!!! :D

How's Lucky doing today?

Well, today Lucky seems to be doing really well. I guess this whole ordeal was my fault

Apparently the Science Diet, Nature's Blend has a lot of sodium (salt) in it, and when mixed with his diuretic, that will cause a reaction! Now that I found this out the hard way!!

His specialist, Dr. G. called me last night and to be sure it is just the food and not the medication, he is taking Lucky off of the diuretic ( ) for a week. Cross your fingers that his fluid does NOT come back!! After a week, and hopefully after the rash and vomiting have settled down, we will put him back on the medication. If the rash or vomiting come back, then it is the medication.

Both of us feel that it was just the food..........now time will tell.

I am such a bad mommy for feeding him the wrong food!! I feel terrible that I got him sick. BUT.......I also learned something from all of this!

Poor Lucky - paws crossed this side of the 'pond' for a very quick recovery and hopefully your Meowmie will stop blaming herself - things happen! {{{Hugs}}} to you both.

Trust me, I am the "queen" of learning the hard way!
What's important is that you have taken every effort to find out what is causing the problems and you are dedicated to resolving them!!!

Hang in there, Sweet Lucky, and you'll be better soon!;)
