But here, when we first got him, he was really light! You can see his lime green accents really well here!

He doesnt have a name yet.. If anyone knows how to pronounce "Kouun" (the Japanese word for lucky) let me know. lol OR if you have any name suggestions, lay em on me! :D

I used to have a mating pair of Pacific Tree Frogs. :D Where did you get yours? They are VERY hard to come by. Well I had froglets in two days and they were so cute. Their eggs hatch so fast!!!

Your set up is very nice, and appropriate for this species. So great job on that! ;) I can't wait to see more pictures. :)

What are you feeding your Pacies?

Well, its kind of a funny story.. My mom was gardening the other day, and she put on the garden clogs that were outside, they are a few sizes too big.. and she went all around the garden ya know, doing whatever she was doing, and then she took them off and bent down to pick them up to set them on the porch and out popped this frog! He had been in the toe of the shoe the whole time! And lucky for him the shoes were too big! :O So she caught him so my nephew could see, intending to release him that night. I wanted to know what kind of frog he was, so I went to the library. But then once I started researching, and found a site that talked about having them as pets I decided to keep him.

I feel bad saying that I "took him from the wild", but I did research and think a lot about it before deciding to keep him. They arent monogmous, so its not like he has a family waiting for him, they are a solitary species, so he wont be lonely, they arent endangered (they are the most common amphibian in the PNW), he wont have any predators to worry about, and he gets his food given to him! And I mean, Im a responsible pet owner, hes not going to be neglected, ya know? But really I think the main thing to me is that he probably wont know the difference. It wont be much different in a terrarium than in my backyard. And in a few months Ill be able to move him from the 10 gallon tank, into my 30 gallon tank (once I get the goldfish a 50 gallon tank).

Where did you get yours luckies? I joined the yahoo! Pacific Treefrog group, and I was reading through some of the archives, and it seemed that most people got theirs from the wild too. Mostly as tadpoles or eggs. Oh hey, and did you need or have a permit for yours?? I read in a few places youre supposed to get one, but Im not sure if it depends on your area or what. And I would get one no prob, but I have no CLUE where or how (or why) to get one!

Oh and Im feeding him crickets that I bought, and I also bought this cool bug catching thing so I can catch and feed him flies and mosquitos and stuff.

uh hum, lol I too aquired my pair from the wild, but it was an accident. I was out looking for Natterjack toads while living in Murrieta California and they were the only two around, and were in an imbrace together. They were just so cute and tiny that I took them home to study them. They are not an endangered species, but they are threatened. ;) Yes I did need to aquire a permit. Just contact your local Fish and Wildlife committee.

I used to be REALLY into frogs and toads and have owned several during my life. I just love them! :D

I'm glad to hear you are catching flies too. That's great! Just make sure you mist them twice a day, because they dry out really fast. Does he have a water dish?

hehe yeah they are cute for sure!

oh okay cool. thanks! :) what did you have to do to get it? just pay a fee or what?

yeah Ive never owned a frog or any reptiles either, so Im really excited.

Oh okay yeah, I was wondering how often to do it. Ive been spraying the tank several times a day so far. Cause yeah it does dry out quick, esp if I have the light on. I dont have the light on except while Im watching him cause its not flourecent so it gets really warm. Im gonna have to get a new light when I get paid again. lol And yeah he has a little pool. Its about 1 1/2 - 2 inches deep, and then theres a rock in one end so he can sit on the rock and not be completely submerged in water.

And hey, thanks for the suggestions! :D
