I bathed all 3 of my cats, 2 short hairs and a long hair, I also bathed my ferret, but he's a little harder to get a picture of. Though I assure you it was very cute!

First I take away their dignity by bathing them, and then I humilate them by taking pictures. :D

Here's Isha's pictures after her bath.

And you aren't bleeding all over your keyboard??! :D :D I admire people who bathe their cats. I would love to do mine but am VERY afraid. :p :p The pictures are very cute, and I am sure you will be forgiven quickly. Yes, I agree with Aly, I think catnip would do the trick. ;)

They always look so pitiful when they're wet, poor kitties. ;) :D But they are always so pretty and fluffy after they dry off. :D

Check out the thread I posted about Peanut's first bath every.
I thought she'd hate me forever (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23303&highlight=hate+me+forever)

:D :D

It's true - cats look sooo pathetic when they are wet. The Asim really has a look of disgust on his facie. Poor little guy.

LOL. I bathe them about every 3 or 4 months because my fiance is allergic to cats. They never got used it and they hate it, but sometimes they take it better then other times.
I need both hands to bathe them and prevent them from making giant leaps out of the tub (believe me cats have tried before) I've become a master at catching leaping cats in mid air, lol.
I also trim their claws right before I bathed them... I learned that through experience. ;)

I'd like to take pix of them IN THE bath, but I would need someone to take the pix while I bathe them. I've only ever bathed one cat out of many that has ever actually semi enjoyed it, and I do have at least one picture of that.. somewhere..

Asim looks the most ticked off out of all 3...They are just so adorable though, and Kudos to you for bathing all 3 at a time...well one after the other...how did you do that??? Bravo Bravo!!! I am sure they will be loving on you very soon for making them feel better though...You are such a wonderful kitty momma!
I haven't tried bathing either Rocky or Fluffy yet...not brave enough..I just let them bathe themselves..

Yeah, I bathe them one after another, any other way it would never work!

Asim went last this time (he normally goes first) he saw Tage and Isha go by, still wet, and he hid under my fiances desk hoping i wouldn't find him, but I did, picked him up and started walking down the hall way, and he just let out a big wail, the "No please save me, not the water!" type of wail, you know.. where cats are really scared or in pain, that meow. lol

So I sat him down in the bathroom on the counter and I talked to him, told him we could do it the hard way or the easy way. And he apparnetly decided the easy way this time, as he didn't give me a hard time about it all after that.

They always forgive me quickly after, and they take their revenge on me by sitting their wet bodies either on my lap or my computer monitor (ahem, NOT a good thing.) lol
Or sometimes they sneak onto my bed afterwards and I'll find a nice big wet spot there when i head to bed.

Oh gosh, those pics are so funny! I had to give Pixel an impromptu bath after she got poopie on her foot. Although she is only 4 months old, it required both me and her daddy to hold her down and even then it was difficult.

It sure does bring back memories .... we once had a beautiful male cat who was the spitting image of KAK's Storm. He now lives with his daddy back in Canberra following my Mum's separation his Daddy. Definitely Daddy's boy.

We decided to show him in the Domestic category (he even won a prize which I stll have). It meant, however, that I had to bath him. Well! Being a male, he went straight for the jugular - he bit me on the nipple then jumped on top of the cupboard behind me. Later on, as I tried again, I discovered that cats can climb walls.

We also made the unfortunate mistake of trimming his claws AFTER the fact.

I would love to show my cats, but I don't have the time, money or the full know how yet. :)

You're quite brave to bathe 3 cats in one day. :) I've only ever tried to bathe Storm before and since he was sick at the time he let me. Since then I haven't bothered since they're all indoor cats. After I groom them, I do spray a leave in pet conditioner on their coats and this makes them smell like babies. :)

AngelZoo,

The only cat I bathe on a regular basis is my Sphynx MooShoo, for OBVIOUS reasons!! :D He gets a bath every other week. By the time he gets around to whining about it, I'm done.

As far as showing your cats...I've shown MooShoo, Maya Linn and Carly the Curly Girl in Household Pets. All have done very well. But you're right, it IS expensive and takes time. It's alot of fun though. Seeing as I'm not working right now, I can't afford it. Maybe once I get a job I'll start showing again.

There are some very good bathing cloths on the market. These clean the coat & remove dander and loose hair and leaves kitty with a clean coat.

I only bathed George once, after he had been ill...never again. It took two of us and we only just managed to bath him. No photos for us.

I just thought if your cats hate baths, it might be worth trying the cloths.

Awww. Heh...Asim does look pretty mad...Tage doesn't look mad at all. Just let 'em sulk for a little while, and when they need to be petted, they'll come looking for you. :) Or, yes, bribe them with catnip! lol That's a good idea.

05-25-2003, 08:23 AM
oh oh, they look so angry and .... wet ;)

Don't you dry them with a towel afterwards?

AngelZoo

PayItForward: I have used other various measures to "bathe" them but they don't work as well as a real bath, plus I like to use the shedding conditioning shampoo on them, works really well when they are shedding heavily.
I have the Natures Miracle Pet whipes (which are also anti-dander) that I use for inbetween times.

I bathe these cats every 3-4 months since I have owned them, some days they don't like it, other days they put up with it.

Lut: I do dry them off afterwards, that IS dry lol, none of them are litterally "dripping wet". I use 2 towels on each cat straight from a nice warm dryer, and then I wrap them up and hold them close to me for a while. :)

You are lucky your cats don't mind most of the time. Your wet cat photos are so sweet.

So how long does it take then to forgive you ?

AngelZoo

Hmmm about 5 minutes to an hour :)

They are too peeved off and busy grooming themselves to accept my love, or treats or catnip until then... sept for Tage, he thinks he's a starving orphan and will eat all food at all times.

He doesn't even LIKE catnip, it has no effect on him, but he thinks it's food so he'll eat it, he's just that desperate
