Kayann,
I just had to revive this post and tell you something funny that happened tonight. I went to pick up my daughter, who had been with her dad all weekend, and we ran by the grocery store. She loves to look at the "Teeny Bopper" magazines (that's what I call them anyway  ) But, back to my story. She asked to buy one called J14 and I said ok. And while we were riding home, she is showing me these pictures, and she's said "There's Nelly, remember him?". I said I only know who Nelly is because of my friend, KayAnn from Pet Talk. She said in that tone that only you girls can use "MMMMMOOOOOOOMMM". "What, Helen?". "Mom, we saw him at the Back Street Boys Concert, remember?"!! I couldn't believe it! I did see him perform!!

LOL! Here is one place that we don't have the same opinion, KayAnn. Our musical taste!! But Helen agrees with you! :D

Aww Logan, you're the best mom in the world to take Helen to all those concerts you don't care for. When I was younger, my dad took me to concerts quite a bit. It was so much fun, and even though I don't remember specifics about the concerts, I still remember the great time I had with my dad and it makes me feel so much closer to him. I'm sure Helen will have similar memories of her wonderful mother :)

(Some of the concerts he took me to were Debbie Gibson, Stacy Q, Cyndi Lauper, Color Me Badd, the Nylons, and the Roaches!)

Oh, poor KayAnn. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well :( . Helen is a bit sniffly and stuff today as well, but her "mean ole mom" made her go to school anyway! LOL!

Helen will be 11 in January. And the tickets to see BackStreet Boys in Atlanta were her birthday present this year. I had NO idea who those rappers were jumping around on the stage. Of course, I was in the rafters with my friend, Betty, at the Georgia Dome (quite large) and Helen was on the 12th row with Betty's daughter and her two little boys. I knew you would get a kick out of the fact that I didn't even know I saw Nelly!

I guess Helen is a bit spoiled...we saw Britney Spears last year  and just recently did one that I wanted to do, "Girls Night Out", with Reba, Martina McBride, Sarah Evans, Jamie O'Neal and Carolyn Johnson. That one was my favorite, of course! But Helen had fun too.

Hope you get to go to a concert one day! :D And feel better soon!

Well at least you never saw New Kids On The Block like...um...me I am afraid to say :) I, too, had a hard time actually seeing a quality artist from a crappy artist :) When I was a teen, all my teeny bopper friends and I were pretty much in love with The New Kids On The Block :)

Now that I am older (and wiser) I can see the true musical genius in certain artists and I can really appreciate good music :)

Wow, talk about memory lane!! I too grew up in the God-awful 80's! UGH! That has got to be the worst decade for style ever! Color-Me-Badd, Debbie Dip-sh.. (my nasty nickname for her) The New Kids on the Block, and plenty more were among my favs back then. My first concert was Expose  - Any 80's kids remember them? UGH!

But, I would have KILLED to be at the "Girls Night Out" concert. They were here in June I think. I LOVE THEM!! Country music is one of my favorites but I truly listen to everything. In fact we just got a CD burner this weekend so I have been putting together some great mixed CD's but I won't share who I have put on them .... some of the younger people will either not have a clue who these people are or laugh their buts off at me....

Two words for the older generation - Air Supply :D!

Leslie, don't feel too bad... I had two posters of the New Kids on my bedroom walls! Those came after Ricky Schroeder and before Luke Perry! LOL!

I've seen both Martina McBride and Reba in concert, so I think I would have LOVED Girls Night Out!
:p

Ok I just went through and as I'm reading all of your posts, I am laughing my butt off at all of these 80's band names and remembering (of course) when I was a teenager. My band, however, was Duran Duran and I was soooo in love with John Taylor. I look back at them and they looked like girls. LOL !!! Then it was the heavy metal bands like Ratt, Poison, Warrant, Guns-N-Roses, Quiet Riot, and Slaughter. Anyone laughing at those names???? Me too, but now you can see them on VH-1 when they do the "Whatever happened to ....?" When I was working in Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino we had an employee party and Quiet Riot played for us. How cool was that?? they were great and everytime I tell people that they are pretty impressed that this once famous band played for an employee party. We had fantastic parties thrown for us by the owner, Peter Morton, who also owns the cafes. Well now I don't know if he still does own them or not becuase mostly his ownership is the casino.
Ahhh yes, how we remember what it was like to be young again and wild and crazy. I hope all you young ones out there have some great memories like I do!!!

I've also seen, LeeAnn Womack, Toby Keith, Tracy Lawrence, Rick Trevino, and another 'big-time' country guy, whose name I don't recall at the moment! Ughh...what is his name?! He sang, "Love is the rhythm of two hearts beatin', poundin' out a msg steady and true..." Ok guys, help me out...what's his name?! lol

Tim McGraw sings that.
Me THREE!!! I cry when they play that song!!
I also cry at "Don't Laugh at Me"
I saw "Trick Pony" (Pour Me) at our local fair Sat night. They put on an awesome show they will go FAR!! I have seen BlackHawk and the Kentucky HeadHunters twice. I started to see Confederate Railroad (Trashy Women) a couple weeks ago but they were rained out after 5 songs, but they came into the bar and partied with us!!!
LifeHouse is awesome-- Sick Cycle Carasoul (track 2) is an awesome song.
I grew up the the 80's too they rule. Loved Duran Duran, Loverboy, Guns and Roses, and Bon Jovi (he still rocks ~~~~sigh~~~) :D ;)
Can you believe Michael Jackson has a new song out??? It sounds just like most of his old ones!!!!
:D ;)
Not to change the subject but how about 80's tv?? It was sooooo much better tho I do have my favorite shows now too.
But Dukes of Hazard, Dallas, Falcon Crest,Threes Company, Scooby Doo and the smurfs cartoons, were what I grew up on!!They were my favorites!!!

OMG! I am totally laughing my butt off! Of course I named all the geeky bands but I did grow up listening to U2, Duran Duran (LOVE THEM!), Poison, Guns-n-Roses, Whitesnake and so on.....all the 80's "hair bands"

Country music rocks! I saw Garth Brooks in concert.... anyone jealous of me now? ;) haa haa haa... oh and get this, I saw the concert that he was playing in Minneapolis. My sister who lives in MN called me up one year and said she bought tickets for the concert and wanted to know if I could make it up there for my birthday for the concert. This was when I worked for America West and flew for free. Needless to say I was on the next plane up to MSP and saw the best concert ever! THEN, we always play around at the Mall of America before my flights home (the airport is right next to the mall) and it just so happens that Trisha Yearwood was putting on a small free concert in the Rotunda of the mall. SO I SAW HER AGAIN!! She opened for Garth the night before... THEN, Yes there is more.... Then, guess who makes a surprise appearance at the mall? GARTH BROOKS HIMSELF!!!! WOW! We freaked (but we knew he would show). We were on the top floor looking down on the concert and flew down the elevators just in time for Garth to rush by - I stood 3 feet from him!

Anyway, yes, Clay Walker sings my favorite song "two hearts beatin..." and so on and also my other fav "This Woman, This Man"

Tim McGraw Rocks too... don't take the girl is great. So, does she live or die at the end... the video tells me she lives... hmmmmmmmmmm ;)

ok, since there is sooooooo much to respond to , i'm going to do this in short.

Loved NKOTB. admit to it yet to this day. i don't listen to them anymore.

I didn't go to my first real concert until i was 16. and to most of my friends, who i went to see was like "eeeeeeewwwwwwweeee!!! ...BUSH. but i tell you, i had the best time of my life!

Guns-N-Roses rock!!!! yes, most of the 80's bands did bite, but not as bad as 00's groups do now. spew!!!

*starts singing along to...* "two hearts pounding, sending out a message, ..."

Garth Brooks used to be one of my idols. even though i was heavily into rock and metal, i still loved his music so much. then a year or two ago i heard about him running out on his wife and daughter and that broke my heart.

omg! 80's cartoons!!!!! they were so awesome! you guys have to check out www.yesterdayland.com (http://www.yesterdayland.com) (omg! i just found another site too that had some awesome images of some old fave's but i don't know which link has them. try ....just spent who knows how long looking for it, but here's the other one. http://www.geocities.com/stina_monkey2/Cartoons.html )

have fun!
