I wanted to share this cute (but rather ridiculous!) picture of our unlikely "country dogs", out on patrol at my parents' property. Sugar, the Alpha Yorkie, is enjoying her new shaved 'do, done in preparation for the hot Texas summer ahead. Katie the Corgi is her usual two feet behind.

I uncovered this picture when I went home to see my parents this weekend. Sorry the quality isn't better--the picture was fuzzy to begin with. It still makes me laugh every time I look at it.

(Oh, while there, I checked for Frito Feet--Katie had them, Sugar did not.)

Smilla,

Wonderful...they are so cute http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif LOVE that Corgi! He looks so cute and I can almost see that cute corgi waddle!

With the corgi following the yorkie, it reminds me of that commercial for Kibbles N' Bits...where a little dog is following a big dog and they are both saying "Kibbles 'N Bits, N' Bits, N' Bits, Kibbles N' Bits N' Bits" Do you remember that commercial? Well in this case, it's the big dog following the little dog but it's real cute http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

I'm so glad everyone liked the picture. If you knew Katie and Sugar, you would probably feel that it captured them fairly well: Sugar is the aloof leader, Katie is the eager follower. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Adore, I loved the Kibbles & Bits commercials. Those dogs scurrying about were always so funny. I rarely watch tv--are they still on? They should be--who could get sick of them?

And Karen, yes, there's lots of ball-chasing space, though you do have to watch for snakes! Sugar actually took a bite over her eye once, but was incredibly brave about the whole thing and only yelped some when we were handling her to see what was wrong. She came through like it was nothing (of course we took her to the vet--forgot to add that the first time I posted the message!), but is MUCH more careful nowadays and limits herself to tormenting the squirrels and armadillos.

Logan, the picture was taken at my parents' property about an hour north of Austin. It does get rather dry-looking here in the summers, but I agree--central Texas does have a beauty of its own. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Thanks to everyone for the compliments!

Smilla,
I'm going to come to Texas one day! I have never been there before, but one of my best friends grew up there, and I have several others living in the Dallas area, plus one in Wimberly. I am dying to visit San Antonio. ONE DAY!! I think it is a beautiful state.

Logan,

I love Texas, and the Austin area especially (though it's changing daily, it seems). There's a lot to see, and East Texas looks completely different from West! I'd recommend that anyone come visit--I hope you get to one day. San Antonio is a lot of fun.

I've lived in the state for nearly 20 years, however, and am somewhat ready for a change. My husband and I will be moving in a matter of months to Massachusettes. I've rather forgotten what fall foliage looks like, and snow...what's that? Texas will always be our home, though, and we plan to come back one day.

Around Cambridge. I've noticed a few folks here are living in Massachusetts; do you live there as well?

Er...I see that you do! Is Newton near Cambridge? How do you like living in Massachusetts?

Yes, I found out tonight just how close Newton was--my husband and I were looking at a map when I spotted it and exclaimed, "Oh, one of the Pet-Talkers lives there!" http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif (He views my frequent visiting here with a great deal of good-natured amusement.) And Karen I., I definately won't forget you all--I may be out of 'net-reach for a while, but I'll definately be back! Not sure yet whether we'll be driving or flying, though...what a drive that would be!

Good luck on your move. Such a production to move that far, but you'll doubtless do fine. I just don't know if I could move from warm to less warm again. I recently moved to Tennessee from Indiana and now that it's getting on toward winter, I'm sure some of the Tennesseans think I'm nuts to sit outside at work and smoke and eat lunch. They just don't get the temperatures here that we got there -- like days of 0 or lower.
I've only been to Dallas once and thought it was beautiful, but my sister and her husband live in Wiley (a Dallas suburb) and breed Saint Bernards there. They've been there for a long time and I've never heard any whispers of them wanting to return to the north.
I hope you enjoy MS.

Smilla, come visit me and Star and Cody in the summer on the Cape. You're only an hour or so away. And the girls can play together on the beach. We're supposed to get snow, maybe a lot, on Thurs. You may want to reconsider!! By the way, "Sugar" dogs are FAMOUS for being Frito-free!!! Give them hugs!!!!! Loved their pictures!!!!!
