tomorrow afternoon, evening there will be a lunar eclipse!

check your local newspaper for the time of the moonrise...

you DO NOT NEED any special viewing equipment...
binoculars, a telescope are helpful......

the next lunar eclipse will be November 8, 2003!!!

Thanks for posting this - for some reason I thought it was tonight! I am planning on setting up my tripod and my digital camera, I would have been out there tonight, wondering why nothing was going on! Here's the animated .gif I made during hte lunar eclipse on January 20, 2000. It was like 0° that night, and I didn't have a tripod. Sorry it's so big (89k)

NEATo Time-Lapse, Boscibo!!! :D

Here's some trivia and a link to an interesting site...

A total lunar eclipse will soon darken the full moon for most of North and South America, Europe, and Africa.

To our ancestors, there were no two more important objects in the sky than the Sun and Moon. They represented the rhythms of life itself. They feared lunar eclipses, thinking it might even be the end of the world.
Embedded in the fear was also fascination and wonder. Today we know why eclipses occur, but understanding did not take away the wonder and beauty of this shadowplay of Earth and Moon. Join us in an exploration of our nearest neighbor in space, and the only other world that man has walked upon.

At 9:05 p.m. EDT Thursday, May 15 (01:05 UT May 16), the eclipse will officially begin. More than an hour later, at 11:13 p.m. EDT, totality begins as the entire moon is cast in Earth's shadow. After 53 minutes, totality ends. The eclipse ends at 2:15 a.m. EDT.

We watched till the moon was completely covered, it was soo weird to see it there one minute and gone the next. I did take a few pictures, of course they are not so great, but I will try to post them soon:)

after a cloudy miserable day, the clouds started to part before the moon was scheduled to rise in the sky. Then, closer to eclipse time, a big rain cloud came in that filled the sky so no eclipse viewing for me.

Hope the rest of you had a great time.:)

Indy had perfect weather for a great view.(First time in years)

It was an awesome sight.:D After standing out in the backyard
for awhile at the start of it, I went back in the house for a minute
and discovered I had a good clear view from the dining room
window, so I got comfy & watched from there. Thanks Boscibo
for the cool pictures.:D
