Is your cat leashed trained?

Zam will wear the harness and leash without complaint but she of course does not "walk" like a dog does. I just let her wander and I follow. :)

Jonah and Finn love their "walking jackets"

Here's Jonah:

And Finn, as a kitten, still too little for his walking jacket

It's not walking like walking a dog - more of like supervised exploring :D

No need. Our kitties walk themselves.

Dear Jonah,

I think you need a new sign....

Zasper my RB kitty was pretty good on a leash. I used to take her to Petsmart with me and she would kind of walk. I tried it on Corkscrew a few times and he hated it. I've never tried it on Tibby.

Three of ours wear a harness and leash and take us for walks. Pickles refuses to be humiliated  He has supervised playtime in the garden without that awful harness!

Since my cats are indoor only I've never tried to train them. I don't even own a leash. :)

I tried and tried to harness train Glacier with no luck. Dominique likes to go for walks, but she mainly just rolls in the dirt.

There is a cat at our shelter right now, Tyrone, who is better leashed trained than some dogs. Volunteer dog walkers take him out too. He sit to have his harness put on, much more quietly than my sled dogs too and then trots to the door. He will walk all day if someone will take it. It's adorable!!

Boo doesn't tolerate a collar, but I am wondering if he'll take to a leash. Any words of advice for adult cat leash training?

I wish I could buy one of those, but they are not available here.
A friend from US will come soon to Moldova. He asked what I want from the States. I'll ask him to bring me a cat leash. I would love to take Juni to the park. I've seen people walking their cats, without a leash.

Here's Tubby as just a youngster. I started him out on the leash almost as soon as I got him, and he loves it!

And here's a pic taken just last year.

Peanut does go out on a leash, but I wouldn't say she's "trained" to it like Tubby is. All I have to do is lightly tug on the rope for Tubby to get the idea, and he comes right over. Peanut on the other hand, steps on the rope and wonders why she can't move, and other such silliness. :D
