I'm rather new to the "dog show" thing. After a few months and a lot of questions, I finally figured out that you have to get a premium list at least a month before the show. I also figured out a few other things about dog shows. Well, my first dog show that I participated in was back in August.

I don't do conformation, because, well, my dog is 1. neutered 2. doesn't have papers 3. we're not sure if he's really *show quality*.

So, with his ILP, Carl and I compete in obedience, right now we're still in Novice A.

He easily qualified at the 1st show, and actually took 2nd.

So, now we're going for our 2nd leg of the CD tomorrow! Wish us luck!!!! I'll let you know how it goes.

Rottie and Carl....best of luck! Rottie, remember to breathe, and you'll do just fine!!!! I've been down this road too with Bailey, my chocolate Lab. She has her CD, was working on her CDX, had an injury, so I retired her.

Just thought I'd let everybody know that I represented all of the Pet Talk Bunch by going to see Carl and Rottie at their obedience trial yesterday. Since this show was in my area, how could I resist? I am not going to say how they did, I will let Rottie tell you that http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif.

What I did want to tell you was that Carl is the most mellow fellow I have ever met. Rottweilers have always been a little bit intimidating to me ever since one bit a yellow lab I had during a dog training class. But Carl is just the nicest, sweetest guy you could imagine. And he is a big fella. He was so relaxed, as if to say, "Hey, none of this excitment, all these other dogs or people bother me 'cause I'm with my person and that is all that matters". And Rottie is such a sweetheart, but you already knew that.

Major Congratulations on your new title! It takes a lot of work to qualify, let alone place high and you have obviously done an excellent job. Are you planning on other activities such as agility with Carl? (By the way, that's my dad's name -- not pertinent, just thought I'd mention it). Agility will help Carl's obedience work and make it all fun for him and you and he won't get "ring sour" with the variety it provides. Good luck on your CDX work.

Many congratulations to both Rottie and Carl for this big achievement! A huge sigh of relief, I'm sure. Give Carl a big hug for me OK Rottie? Enjoy open classes, they're a lot of fun (and work) too!
And it must have been so nice for Rachel to meet you both, that's great too!
