All the cats we've ever had were strays. We only have two now but a few years ago one came wondering by we took her in and named her Buddy a few weeks later she had 4 kittens we gave them all away and had her spayed. We also have had Basil for about 5 years now. He is a tubby black and white cat. When we took him to the vet to get his shots we thought he was a pregnant girl kitty but it turned out he had just already been neuteured (sp?) We have never bought a cat at a store since a stray one just finds us and joins our family:) :D ;)

first, my RB cats
Lucy(1981-83) was a calico, mostly all white but had tan and black on the top of her head, a little on her back, and on her tail.
Cookie (Dec 2000-Feb '02) was an orange tabby

Muffin, 3years old, is a torti-calico..black orange and white.
Emma and Louise, are 1 1/2 yrs old, littermates, grey tabbies
Callie, 3 years old, is part siamese, white with tan, and darker on face, has a mask like face.
Cassie, 1 1/2 years old, tan and black, speckled
Patches, 1year old black and white, kind of cow patterned

all are short haired.
Charlie, 1 year old. is black with white feet and tummy, with a white nose on a black face! he is my only long haired cat.

George and Henry, littermates, 2 1/2 yrs old are long haired, George is white and orange, with a big fluffy orange tail and Henry is white with some tan/black with a big fluffy tan/black tail.
I am fostering them, that's why I said Charlie is my only long haried, because I am not keeping the other 2. they are so loving, I wish I could keep them.

We just got 2 kitties brother and sister Serengetti's that will be 1 Jan.28th named Clo and JC.They needed a home and we love them.I haven't had cats in yrs due to mine and my roomates allergies. He just moved a few minutes away and these cats don't bother me.I have known them their whole lives almost. They had what was thought to be allergies in their home.I have always been in the dog part. Now I am trying to introduce them to my 4 dogs( and other animals-but we can keep them seperate)-any tips are always appreciated. We have baby gates and chaines on the bathrooms with the litter pans so they have private areas to go in/out that the dogs can't and now they are upstairs with bedrooms and dogs downstairs with living room and cats come down in kitchen while dogs are outside and they watch through window or when dogs are crated in next room and so far they just smelled each other at first and now see each other a little like through the window and sometimes in the crates. They just came a week ago this past sat.Any pointers I'd love,I grew up with cats and had them for years but haven't had them in12 yrs now. Thanks
Laurie

I think I have managed to attach a portrait that I have had done of my darlings, the Bi -Colour - Kaos -in the top center is no longer with us, but he had to be included in the picture as he was one of the most funniest, personality laden cats we have ever known, he sure is missed.

Thanks, we are quite proud her... she's a smart little thing! According to what her mom and dad look like, she is about to become one BIG cat.
It was almost hard to believe it when we saw the parents... they look very powerful and yet, they have a very sweet expression. At the beggining, I was a bit reluctant in picking daddy... imagine, a big tom cat, on your lap, belly up, not a sign of purr, looking at you right in the eyes...
These cats hardly purr or meow, unless they are extremely happy, yet they manage to be quite expressive... it's quite an experience I have to say. :)

I will try to get some more quality pics in the futur!

I think she is Maine Coon. First of all, princessofjade, welcome to Pet talk! My name is david p from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I hope you post alot more!! Kitana looks to me like a tortoiseshell kitty(lots of little spots of brown, tan, and a litle white). I have two cats, Nikki, a tuxedo kitty, 4 years old, and Daisy, a 1 year old tortoiseshell. Which is why I think Kitana is a tortoiseshell kitty.

Thanks David P and RedHedd. :)

I never heard of tortoiseshell breed before. My vet just said she's an American Long Hair and I searched online but there isn't American Long Hair but there is Maine Coon so that's how I thought of her. Oops! I need to find more about Kitana then.

She has lots of fur maybe this picture was taken when she was little. This is how she looks now. However, she has scar from her ringworm and more than one inch of her tail fur is not growing back yet. :(

I have a mixed breed, but why does it mater? Isn't it what's on the inside and in the heart that counts the most? Isn't it the love and companionship of a cat that is the most important of all?

mmmmichael, first of all, WELCOME TO PET TALK!! I'm david p from Pittsburgh. I have two cats, Nikki, a 3year old tuxedo, and Daisy, a 14 month old tortoiseshell. mmmmichael, it doesn't matter at all if your kitty is a purebreed or mixed. What counts is that your kitty is your friend and that that you love your kitty to death. A lot of people on PT have mixed breeds, so I hope you post often and you probably become addicted to this site!! BTW, Where do you live?

mmmmicheal WeLcOmE To PeT TaLk!
But it doesn't matter purebred or mixed. I believe there are more MIXED kitties on PT then Purebred. Purebreds are just as loved as Mixed and Vice versa!!!
We love all kitties!! This poll was just out of curiosity. Did you notice it is over a year old?
:p How about some pics of YOUR kitties?

Hi Princessofjade,

I think your kitty is probably a mixed breed, like many of us at "Pet Talk" have.:) :) I too have a lovely long haired kitty and I like to think he is part Maine Coon but I don't really know what he is, what I do know is he beautiful and I love him.:D :D As for your kitty, he is also very lovely and I hope you love your fluffy little fur ball as much as i love mine.

Thanks for the welcome.

OK. I see. I love all cats, too. Pictures of my cats are attached.

No offense, but I like to keep my address private, instead of broadcasting it on the world-wide-web. Sorry.

I agree with all of you that whatever breed is your cat as long as you love your kitty and your kitty love you, that's what matter most.
I hate the fact that many people in this country, Saudi Arabia, are so marrow-minded. They hate all cats that is not pure white or not mix with Persian.
Anyway, I think my colorful Kitana is the cutest and I love her. Actually, I love all cats. ;)

Kitana looks so pretty. She is what I would call a tortie - short for tortoise shell, and I really adore the colour mix. Its so pretty. I'm not sure if its true but I heard that torties are are only female. Does anyone know if that is right or not? I'm curious to know, and so far I have only every known female torties but of course that may well be a coincidence.

I live in Australia and have a tabby DSH, a silver Abyssinian and a blue point Ragdoll. I adore just my fur-babies so much. My Tabby used to be a nervous fraidy cat but he is getting better as time goes on with lots of TLC. My Abby is just the greatest all round cat - and he is round as he loves his food, and anyone elses  ..and my ragdoll is my baby-girl at 4.5 months. She is soooooo sooffftttt

Hi David. Many thanks for the warm welcome. I could not find a 'new members' area on this forum. so I posted here. In Australia I don't think we have calico cats....or if we do we don't call them by that name. So when I heard about them, I wrongly assumed that they were the same as tortoiseshells. Now at least I know they are not the same. ;)

Hi, again, Sky. Calico cats are usually white with patches of brown, tan, and black all over. Hopefully from my description you will know what a calico cat is. Good luck, Sky.

Currently we have a blue pt. Siamese
2 domestics who are black and white

We have owned other Siamese in the past who were a blue and a seal. I think they are gentler than the domestics

Before I adopted these two, I owned two siamese. Also a sealpoint & a bluepoint. They are both rainbow Bridge kitties. Their names were Freddie(sealpoint) and Thai(bluepoint) Freddie to be 12, and Thai lived to be 22!
