Sara, I thought you may like to see the bluebells I have in my garden. The flowers are similar to the bluebells you have but the leaves are straight...like daffodil leaves. Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of the plant, and a couple of Bob next to it!:D

My isn't Bob handsome there in the midst of the flowers! What a great shot Chris and how nice that he doesn't try to dig them up! LOL! Last fall when I was working in my flowerbed Bella ran off with a clump of my catnip plants in her mouth. :eek: The kitties haven't forgiven her for that and keep requesting that I go buy replacements! :D

Great pictures. Bob is such a cute dog.

What is the name of this plant in English? My dictionary says Violet, but Violet to me is the one that looks like Saintpaulia. Someone told me it's Bluebell. It's looks a little different, but not so different like the Violet.

Viorica, I don`t know all that much about plants & stuff but I also don`t think your plant is a violet, but I could be very wrong because it is a wide group (Viola -Violaceae). Anyway, I have had a look in my book for Bluebells = Hyacinthoides, syn. Endymion (Liliaceae)! It says that there are only three in that group, two of whom are very similar, English Bluebell, Spanish Bluebell (looking at the pictures mine is a Spanish one, not English! :o) anyway, there is no picture of the third but the description goes like this;
H. italica. Spring flowering bulb H15-20cm S5-8cm. Produces a basal cluster of narrowly strap-shaped, semi-erect leaves. Leafless stem produces a conical spike of many flattish, star-shaped, blue flowers, 1cm across.
What do you think?
Anyone else have any idea what Viorica`s plant is?:)

Pam, yes, Bob is very good in not digging anything up. In fact he doesn`t do digging, but he does do eating!..with a vengence! See all that ivy I have? I have to watch him all the time with that and other stuff! He is such a bad dawg! :D

Lastly, to everyone who complimented Bob, he says Thanks very much :o, and sends waggys tails and lots of slurpy kisses!:D

BOB!!! You are crushing the plant!!!! Great pics of the lovely Bob, and your bluebells.

Vio- I 'think' those are called grape hyacinths..baby hyacinths...I think. I have those in my garden, too. I should know..but, sorry.

Cataholic - these are grape hyacinths (on the left) and are, like you say, just like teensy weensy hyacinths. I have them mixed in with periwinkle so most of the leaves you see are from the periwinkle.

I think Bob would look equally handsome laying in a bed of these. :)

My mom has also hyacinths, they are a little bigger and a little different. Maybe it is a kind of hyacinth :confused:

This one is a little old, so its flowers are too open. The steam with the little bells looks more like the one of Lilly-of-the-valley, with the bells on one side, not around the steam. Anyway, this is a wild plant, my mom has it in her garden, because it reminds her of me. I share the name with this small weed :). And my mom, just like me, she loves the bulbs - tulips, daffodils, crocuses and so on. Actually, her favorite are Lillies-of-the-valley. Two thirds of her flower garden are covered with them. She brought me some and I have them on my desk now. I love their smell.

Cataholic and Pam, we call those Mice bulbs - or Mice hyacinths :D
