I was wondering the same thing, I'm pretty sure they don't, but we better check...

The ones with the reflective collars are best, just in case they get out of the house when your not looking.

I think I might adopt one for a friend, he's been thinking about getting a pet. But I think I need to search for breed related illness because I checked on pet insurance and they don't insure cones. So I don't want it to rack up too many vet bills.

I also heard they are hard to train, and they keep you up at night with the howling... I bet if you get them trained well enough, they make great pets.

If you know what you are doing, they shouldn't be hard to train at all. Conan learned very fast. I guess it all depends on the breeds.

I'm looking to get one, I don't think my mom wants another pet though.

Cones need an abundant amount of asphalt. It is also a good idea to add some tar & gravel into the diet, it helps their digestive track. Once and a while give them some grass salad, that makes a nice treat. We feed Conan about 1 pound of asphalt mix everyday. He LOVES it!

Do cones do well in the desert? Because I don't have much asphalt, but I have a huge yard of dirt.

Hmm...I had to ask my mom about that one. She said there is a breed called the Saguaro Sandy Cone, that thrives in the desert. Give it some sand and occasional water and it will thrive.

Maybe ILoveMyAbbyGirl knows of another breed?

There is also a Egyptain Sand Dweller that does well in sandy climates.

Yeah, its kinda a rare breed. There is also the Yellow Sand cone, which has an unusual yellow tint to it.
