Just wanted to start a NEW thread to see who all is coming, and who is bringing what, and who needs names of Pet Friendly hotels. I know someone asked that but I can't find who it was.:) There is one right across from Wal-Mart about 10 min from the park. I am not sure of the name of it, but I can ask Amy's mom.

I am probably bringing
Oreo dessert and/or
Snow Tunnel Cake (angel food cake)
I am giving head count as 2 for Keegan and I, I am trying to convince my sister to come or let me bring Scooby but I haven't yet. And she usually flies by the seat of her pants so no promises! :eek:

inside the Hancock (County) Parks "Riverbend Recreation Area"...
Just SOUTH of Ohio route 568...

about 5 miles South West from downtown Findlay, Ohio.

If you follow the instructions below (from another Thread) -
You can see and/or Print (must use a color printer) a series of Very Detailed area maps that show all the local Township, County, and State roads. You might want to shift (left & right; up & down) slightly to see all the township road Numbers and Names on the zoomed-in maps - but the zoom-in detail is excellent!

And ALL the important intersections *DO* have signs with either the Road Name or Number!! But read the WHOLE sign! As you get close - ALL the signs start with "MARION" followed by the road NUMBER! (Dad wuz thunkin there wuz a Lotta roads named "Marion".) :rolleyes:

If you ask someone for directions - be sure to say "RiverBEND" Park - there are several other little parks in the Hancock Parks District with names starting with "River..."

** Pay attention to Routes 23 and 15 -- (if you use the southern approach)!! It "looks" like the same road (actually a highway) with both numbers - but Not So! You leave Upper Sandusky (route 30) onto Ohio 23 and OMG! 23 just morphs into Ohio 15 as you get closer to the Findlay Reservoir.

On most maps, the Findlay Reservoir appears as a rather large, square shaped Lake - south-east of the City of Findlay. Good Landmark! The Dog Park is within a quarter mile of the north-east corner of that Reservoir!

Do a http://www.mapquest.com "thingie" - kuz we
know this werkz!! ;)

Click on their *Maps* link - you'll get a fill-in-the-blanks form ~

In "Address/Intersection" - type in "township 207 and township 208" (without the quotes).

In "City" put Findlay; in "State" put OH;
no Zippy Code required.

MapQuest will pop up a super-zoomed-in little map -
shows a square corner of the reservoir and the two roads Twp 207 & Twp 208...
Just about where the "208" block is shown is almost *Zaktly* where the BarkPark iz, just below or south of where Twp 208 hangs a 90 degree turn to the left (west)!!

You can use the "Big Map" clicker to blow things up and cut down on the ads showing... then Zoom Out to get a better idea of "where" you are.

Zoom out slowly - too many jumps and you'll be seeing half of the USA! :eek:

Here's the Deal on the Findlay / Hancock Parks Dog Park Permit...

The Dawgs are supposed to have a [i]*Permit Card* issued by Hancock Parks to be allowed into the BarkPark area. The Permit Fee is only $10.00 per year (December through December - 13 months) for up to three dogs. Well worth the price even if you only plan to visit a few times!

To obtain the Permit - send an E-mail to:
Hancock Parks ([email protected]) ( [email protected] )
and ask them to Mail you the "RiverBend Dog Park Application Form". Cut off the Return Part at the bottom, fill it in and *sign* the release/waiver on the back, and gather the Dog(s) current Vaccination & Rabies Receipts...
I made a copy of their last Vet receipt (shows the Vaccs they got), copy of their Rabies Vacc Certificates, and threw in for good measure a copy of their County Licenses; together with a check for $10.00. We got our lil Permit Card back in less than a week.

A "Note:"
Don't sweat the Permit if you think you might only be "visiting" once or twice! The Very Nice Park Ranger I talked to (before we came) said they do NOT hassle folks - and a couple *visitors* surrounded by multiple permit holders would NOT be a problem. He did stop by, late on Sunday, to say "Hello"... and never even mentioned wanting to *see* anyone's permit. And the permit has no names or numbers of Dogs on it ~ so between the current permit holders, we've got "spaces" for probably almost 30 Dawggies!

I suggested to Amy that we could put a coffee can out by the food for BarkPark Donations ~ folks who don't want to go through the permit process can toss a couple bucks in the can and we'll send that as a donation to the BarkPark Volunteers.

As for the Phred's Fambly "contributions" to the Cause... We'll leave that in the *pot* to kick off the June/July "Gathurin". ;)

Tho, I imagine Kansas would be pretty this time of year. I got my permit, and my sister probably isn't attending, so, two dogs can sit on my pass...I guess two small dogs, as the pass is only about 2.5 inches by 1.5 inches. So, no danes on my pass! Wouldn't be able to see it :eek: :eek:

I can't believe this but being the only Findlayite, I can't be there until later. I just got an invitation to my best friend's daughter's baby shower. Since she had both Amy (Cincy's Mom) and Christy )Dakota's Mommie)'s wedding showers, I can hardly not go to her daughters shower.

As far as food, I am not sure what I will bring. I don't know yet if Carl will join us or not. I will bring Snoopy and Taggert for sure and hopefully at least let Jack come for a short time so everyone can meet him. He doesn't like a lot of dogs coming at him all at once so I am not sure how he will be around a large group. He and Spot seem to have some issues so....

We figured out yesterday at Solfest here in Ft Wayne that Ryu won't be joining us, he got crappy with every dog he met. I would also like to bring Rinney...oh who knows...anyone have any requests so we can narrow it down? As for food...how about beans and cheese dip with chips???

And again, we will have the motorhome, which means we will also have a grill. Ok, it's a small one, but if we all take turns....;) :D We could do it that everyone bring their own meat (and bun or whatever is needed to put on the meat) and you can use our grill to cook it. Of course we'll have to do this on the outside of the doggy part, otherwise I'm sure there will be a few burgers stolen off the grill. ;) :D

The motorhome also has a stove and a microwave/convection oven, so if somebody wants to bring something that will need to be warmed up (like beans ;) :D ) that would work too.

I'm not so sure the issues are exactly Spot and Jack's fault...but Sadie's!!! Seems all the boys (well except Snoopy...he must still be too young!) have a thing for the Sadie girl...and think none of the other boys should play with her!!! Must be those long legs :)


We will be there, early afternoon, but I'm not sure how late we can stay...a friend of ours always has a party the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, and we would like to make it there too...but I'm guessing we can stick around til 5, give or take an hour, and still get to his house in time to see everyone.

I was talking to Terry last night, and we just bought a portable gas grill - which is the one I was thinking about - but he said we could bring the old fashioned charcoal one too, which would give us two grills to use.

We're going to an annual Corvette event this weekend in Bowling Green, KY, and it's tradition that we get rained on on the way down and on the way back. Every year we do our "No Rain Mantra" for at least two weeks before, and every year we get rained on, so I think we'll try Cinder & Smoke's "Sun Danze" instead for May 25th. It would be an eight hour drive each way & I don't trust my 20 yr old truck that much. 16 hrs in 2 days wouldn't be fair to Badger so I'd be driving alone. I got a bunch of FREE Boca Burgers (veggie burgers) this weekend, so I will bring them along in case anyone wants those on the grill. I can also bring along a few extra hamburgers and hotdogs realizing that it might be kinda hard to drive to the park with doggies and meat in the car. ;) :)

And someone else had mentioned pasta salad (sorry, don't remember who off the top of my head) so I can bring some fruit salad or potato salad or both for that matter, although the potato salad would have to be store bought since mine never turns out very good. :rolleyes: And Donna, we will have lots of paper plates on hand since that's about all we use in the motorhome, so you won't have to worry about that part of it.

We will be staying in the parking lot of the Cracker Barrel at exit 159 on I-75 Saturday night, and will head to the park in the morning. We will more than likely be there way before 11:00 if anyone else (YLL & ACGAS?) wants to arrive early too, although it sounds like we won't be able to get into the doggy part of the park until noon or so (which isn't a problem for Terry & I since we don't have a doggy ;) ).

We're looking forward to meeting everyone and having a great time!

Yes, if you don't use it anymore, you might as well bring it along. We're bringing one gas grill and one charcoal one. They're both rather small which is why we're bringing both of them so there will be plenty of room.

Kim, if you want to bring baked beans, we can warm them up on the stove. And like I said before, anything that needs to be heated or refrigerated, we've got the equipment for it so you don't have to worry about it being cold or melting in the sun. ;) :D

And I was going to say veggie pizza, but it seems taco dip is already the majority. ;) :D

Hi Everybody,

I have bad news! :( I can't make it tomorrow. :( I have a 6 week old male kitten I named Spike that I took home from the shelter today.

The woman who runs the nursery asked me if I would consider fostering him till he gained weight. He's VERY thin, tiny, doesn't eat alot (although he does eat on his own) and has diarrhea real bad. Kathy needed a break (she was taking him home at night). He's now in a carrier with a heating pad. I've been pumping him with Pepto Bismal to stop the diarrhea and Pedialite for dehydration. Because the shelter is closed till Tuesday, he's with me for the duration. If the diarrhea keeps up, he'll have to be given subcue fluids.

His sister is also in the nursery and thriving. I have a feeling this little guy is the runt of the litter and might not make it. :(

So, in the name of rescue, I'm going to have to pass tomorrow. I hope there will be another Pet Talk reunion in a couple of months (maybe in July when my daughter is here for a visit??)

Have a great time everybody. Please take lots of pictures, give tons of smooches to all the pooches and think of me. I hope you guys understand.
