Today my mom was at work, PetSmart, when a lady came up to her and they started discussing that she (this lady) had a hamster. She said he had a growth on his mouth and that it would cost $70 for surgery to remove it. This lady said she just wanted to "throw him away," but didn't because, "SOMEONE TOLD HER that it was cruel." How retarded is that? Someone has to actually TELL YOU that throwing away an animal is CRUEL?!?!?! Some people just should have animals. Needless to say, my mom has adopted this furry little creature and he's going to the vet first thing tomorrow. :)

I'm glad to hear that your mom is taking in the hamster, an animal is still an animal it doesn't matter how small it is. I hope the hamster get better soon.

Good for your mom! :) What a loser, you can't just "throw away" your pet?

Thank you everyone. :) And thank you, Tikeyas_mom for providing that link. It is much appreciated. :)

For who asked, no she didn't give the cage or anything, she was returning him to PetSmart, the vet in PetSmart was going to euthanize him, because, "he's not worth the money." What a vet! My mom bought him a nice cage, it's got a "lookout tower" and a running wheel. He likes it. He's so cute! I believe he's a dwarf hamster. Oh... and we named him Riley.

Thanks, everyone!

Your mom did a great thing. If that lady had throwen away the hamster it would have probebly died.

Thank you everyone, for all of your kind responses. :) Riley, the hamster, had the growth removed yesterday for $25. They didn't give him any anestisia (sp?) and he didn't bleed! He is doing great now, eating more often, a little more active and happier! Just a Q... does anyone else's hamster make quiet noises? J/W
Once again, thank you everyone.

It's good to hear the the poor little mite is now in a loving home and that his operation was successful! Some people are totally disgusting! But, at the end of the day, there are wonderful people like yourself and your Mum who look out for the prescious ones!
